Whether you mould sandcrete blocks on a yard in Minna, sell cement and iron rods from a depot in Bida, supply roofing sheets and tiles in Kontagora or run a paving-stone plant near Suleja, putting the business under a registered name is the paperwork that every other approval is built on. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent, and we handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for block and building-material businesses across Niger State. It really is this simple: send us your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll handle everything else.

- Tile, sanitary-ware and fittings shops — showrooms and stores selling finishing materials.
- Sand, granite and laterite dealers — businesses that buy and sell aggregates for building sites.

Why Block Makers in Niger State Should Know About NIS 87 and the Minerals Act
Two bodies of rules shape this trade, and neither is a CAC matter. The first is the Standards Organisation of Nigeria’s standard for sandcrete blocks, NIS 87:2007. Engineering sources describe it as setting minimum compressive strengths for hollow blocks of 2.5 N/mm² for 150 mm blocks and 3.45 N/mm² for 225 mm blocks, and recommending a 1:8 cement-to-sand mix. Researchers have repeatedly found that commercially sold blocks across Nigeria fall short of those figures, and an older study of blocks made in parts of Minna reached the same conclusion. For a block maker, quality is therefore both a selling point and a risk.
The second is the law on extracting building materials. Under the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007, sand, gravel and granite are quarriable materials, and extracting them for sale requires a quarry lease. A block maker who simply buys sand from a supplier is on the buying side, but it is worth asking the supplier how the sand is sourced. Niger State is crossed by the River Niger and the Kaduna River, which is dammed at Shiroro and Zungeru before it joins the Niger south of Bida, and the state government has acted on mining more than once. In August 2024 it conditionally lifted a suspension on mining activities and set up a task force to enforce responsible practice. Because the rules can change, confirm the current position with the relevant state and federal offices before you start extracting anything yourself.

📋 CAC Business Name Registration
💰 Cost: ₦35,500 (All-Inclusive) ⏱️ Turnaround Time: 5 – 7 Working Days ✅ What You Get: Official CAC Certificate + Certified Status Report + TIN 🚚 Delivery: Soft Copy Sent via WhatsApp (Print Hard Copy Locally)
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Owner-run block yards, building-material shops and small depots | Larger plants, importers and suppliers with partners or outside investors |
A Business Name usually suits a single yard or shop run by its owner: it gives your receipts, supplier accounts and bank account a proper registered name. A Limited Liability Company becomes worth considering when you buy materials on credit in large volumes, take on contracts with developers, share ownership with partners or bring in an investor, because the business then stands apart from your personal assets. Many block and building-material businesses begin with a Business Name and convert later.
What’s Included in the ₦35,500
Your ₦35,500 is one payment, with CAC’s filing fee and our service fee both inside it. Nothing is added later. If you prefer to start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, all-inclusive.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Completion and submission of the CAC Business Name application
- CAC government filing/processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report confirming your business is active on the public register
What’s Not Usually Included
Block-making and building-material businesses answer to several authorities that have nothing to do with CAC:
- SON standards. NIS 87:2007 covers sandcrete blocks, and other building products such as cement, iron rods and roofing sheets have their own standards. Imported products are generally expected to carry SON certification.
- A quarry lease or mining approval under the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007 if you extract sand, gravel or granite yourself for sale, plus any approvals from Niger State’s mining authorities.
- Environmental approvals for your site, including dust control, water use and the handling of runoff, with larger operations facing more formal assessment requirements.
- Land, site and local government approvals, such as proof of your right to use the plot and any permit or levy for the yard or shop.
- Customs and import documentation if you bring in tiles, roofing sheets or other materials yourself.
- Workplace safety arrangements for machinery, mixers, moulding equipment and loading, including protective gear for workers.
- Vehicle licences and roadworthiness papers for tippers and delivery trucks.
- State and federal tax obligations, including VAT where relevant.
- Printed copies of your certificate, which you can print locally from the soft copy.
- Opening a business bank account, done with your chosen bank once your certificate is ready.
- Annual returns to CAC in later years, a small separate step we can also take care of.

Block and Material Suppliers Across Niger State
The price, requirements and turnaround stay the same wherever your yard or depot is. We register block and building-material businesses across the state, including the areas below.
Minna and the capital area
- Minna and Chanchaga — block yards, cement depots and material shops serving the state capital’s building sites
- Bosso, Paikoro and Munya — suppliers on the capital’s outer roads, where plots are being built on and demand for blocks follows
Suleja and the Abuja corridor
- Suleja — building-material businesses close to the FCT boundary, where construction demand spills over from the capital
- Tafa and Gurara — suppliers along the roads running toward Abuja and Kaduna
- Shiroro and Kuta — yards and depots near the Shiroro dam area
- Rafi and Tegina — block makers and shops serving the eastern towns
Bida and the southern towns
- Bida and Baro — long-established trading places near the meeting of the Niger and Kaduna rivers, and the river port
- Katcha, Badeggi and Gbako — block makers and depots working close to farming and river communities
- Lavun and Edati — suppliers along the roads between Bida and Mokwa
- Agaie and Lapai — yards and shops supplying homes and public works in the central south
Mokwa
- Mokwa — a highway town where hauliers and builders stop, and where tippers, cement and iron-rod dealers do steady business
Kontagora and the north
- Kontagora — a commercial hub in the north-west for roofing, cement and finishing materials
- Mariga, Magama and Mashegu — block yards and small depots serving growing towns
- Rijau — suppliers to the northern communities
- Wushishi and Zungeru — building-material businesses near the Zungeru dam area
Borgu and the western end
- Borgu, Wawa and Agwara — yards and depots serving construction around Kainji and the west of the state
Smaller communities
- Auna, Babana and Bokani — local block makers and shops for village and roadside construction
- Duku, Ibeto and Konkwesso — small yards where a house or a fence is built a few blocks at a time
- Kusheriki, New Shagunnu and Ukata — suppliers serving the smaller settlements
If your yard, shop or depot is anywhere in Niger State, we can register it.
Mixing, Moulding, Curing and Loading Never Stop
Block making starts early. The cement and sand have to be measured and mixed, the blocks moulded, the racks watered and turned while they cure, and the truck loaded before the customer’s site runs out of blocks. Rain can undo a day’s work, and a delayed delivery can stop a building site. Filling in a government portal does not fit around any of that. Handing the registration over takes it off your list entirely, and when it’s done your yard or depot trades under a recognised name on delivery notes, supplier receipts and bank paperwork while you keep production moving.
This Might Be a Great Fit If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather not wrestle with CAC’s portal between mixing batches, watering cured blocks and loading a truck for a site, or while a customer waits at the cement counter — you want the paperwork done while the yard keeps running.
- You’re heading from supplying neighbours’ building sites toward contractors, estate developers or public works, perhaps adding paving stones, culverts or a second depot — and you want a registered name to build that on.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You like knowing the full cost upfront — ₦35,500 covers the filing and our fee together, with nothing added later.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a block industry or building-material business in Niger State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a block yard or building-material shop? For most owner-run yards, shops and small depots, yes. It gives you a legal name for receipts, supplier accounts and your bank account. A Limited Liability Company suits larger operators or businesses with partners.
Does CAC registration mean my blocks meet SON standards? No. CAC registration gives your business a registered name. Block quality is judged against the Standards Organisation of Nigeria’s standard for sandcrete blocks, NIS 87:2007, which is separate.
Do I need approval to extract sand, gravel or granite? Under the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007, extracting these materials for sale requires a quarry lease. That is separate from CAC. If you only buy sand from a supplier, ask how it is sourced.
Can I register if I mould blocks on a roadside plot or yard? Yes. You need a business address in Niger State and its LGA. Approvals for the land and the site are a separate matter.
I don’t own the land my yard sits on. Can I still register? You can register using the address where the business operates. Your right to use the land, and any local approvals, are handled separately.
Do cement depots and iron-rod or roofing dealers register the same way? Yes. Dealers in cement, iron rods, roofing sheets, tiles and fittings register the same way as block makers.
Can interlocking, paving and concrete-product makers register too? Yes. Describe the business as production of concrete products, and it will cover pavers, kerbs, culverts and similar items.
I’m a contractor who also runs a block yard. Can one registration cover both? Yes. Describe the business broadly, for example as building construction and the production and sale of blocks. If the two sides grow apart, you can register them separately later.
Can tipper and haulage operators who supply sand and granite register? Yes. A haulage and supply business registers the same way. Vehicle licences and roadworthiness papers are separate.
Can I register more than one yard or depot under one business name? One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe it broadly. Local permits generally relate to each site, so confirm what applies to every location.
Do you register businesses outside Minna and Suleja? Yes. We register building-material businesses across all of Niger State, from Bida and Kontagora to Mokwa and Borgu, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Will contractors or developers ask for proof of registration? Some organisations ask suppliers for registration papers before they place regular or large orders, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any contract.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Yes, registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step and we can help when it is due.
What if my business name isn’t available? Send a backup and we’ll check it right away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many block and building-material businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow or bring in partners. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you plan to supply developers or public works, import materials in volume, share ownership or take on an investor, the company route is worth considering from day one.
How long does it take, and how do I receive the certificate? Registration usually takes 5–7 working days. We send your certificate, TIN and Status Report as soft copies on WhatsApp, and you can print them locally when you need them.
