Electrical supply shops, appliance dealers, repair workshops and electronics retailers in Kogi State can have a CAC Business Name registered without spending trading hours on the portal. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent, and we handle the search, reservation, filing and certificate on your behalf, wherever in the state your shop or workshop is. A Business Name registration costs β¦35,500, all-inclusive, with the CAC filing fee and our service fee included in that one amount. Your business name, sent over WhatsApp, is the only starting point we need β we run everything after it.

Kogi Now Has Its Own Electricity Regulator
Kogi has taken a more hands-on role in its power sector. Under the Kogi State Electricity Law of 2024, the state set up the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC), which took over oversight of the state’s electricity market from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission on 12 March 2025. KERC has said it has licensed no fewer than 15 mini-grid operators to widen access in underserved communities. In mid-2026 it opened talks with Geregu Power Plc, the generation company at Ajaokuta, on boosting supply through a local electricity market and direct off-take arrangements. It has also opened a public consultation on a proposed tariff for 2026 to 2031.
None of this changes what it takes to register a shop. For sellers of meters, cables, breakers, appliances and wiring services, though, a more active state market means more projects, more installers and more buyers asking who they’re dealing with. A registered name puts you in a stronger position to supply those buyers and to hold your own against unregistered competitors.

Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | β¦35,500 | β¦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Electrical and electronics shops, repair workshops and small installers getting registered for the first time | Wholesalers, contractors taking on larger jobs, and businesses with partners or investors |
A Business Name gives you a registered trading identity to sell to households, builders, offices and electricians. If you later take on larger supply or installation contracts, open several branches or bring in outside capital, the LLC structure separates your personal assets from the business. You can start with a Business Name and convert when the time comes.
What Your β¦35,500 Covers
Your β¦35,500 all-inclusive covers the government filing fee and our service fee together. It fits most electrical and electronics retailers, repairers and small contractors who want proper registration without extra structure they don’t yet need. A Limited Liability Company is also available at β¦65,500 all-inclusive.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Completion and submission of the CAC Business Name application
- CAC government filing/processing fee
- Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- CAC Status Report confirming your business is active on the public register
Thinking about the Limited Liability Company? For β¦65,500 all-inclusive you get everything above plus your Memorandum and Articles of Association (Memart) and personal liability protection. It tends to make sense for wholesale distributors, firms taking on bigger installation contracts, and businesses with partners.
What Falls Outside This Registration
- Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) requirements for electrical products and appliances, including rules on product quality and counterfeits where they apply
- Electrical safety and installation requirements, including those of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) where they apply to wiring and installation work
- NCC type approval for devices that connect to telecom networks, where your stock includes them
- Import documentation and customs clearance for electrical and electronic goods you bring in from abroad
- KERC licensing if you generate, distribute or sell electricity yourself, for example through a mini-grid, as opposed to selling equipment
- Kogi State and local government permits for your shop, workshop or warehouse, and any levies that apply to your trade
- Printed copies of your certificate (delivered as soft copy; print locally whenever you like)
- Business bank account opening, done with your chosen bank once your certificate is ready
- Annual returns in future years, a small separate step we can also help with later
Documents to Have Ready
- Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
- A valid means of ID: National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Kogi State, indicating the LGA
- Phone number and email address
- Nature of business, described simply, e.g. “electrical materials supply” or “electronics sales and repair”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders
Nothing here needs preparing in advance. Send what you have and we’ll match it to CAC’s requirements.
The Registration Timeline
- Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal. We handle this.
- Reserve the name once it’s confirmed available.
- Complete the application with your business, proprietor and Kogi address details.
- Upload your ID and passport photograph. A phone photo works.
- Pay the β¦35,500 all-inclusive fee in a single payment.
- Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5β7 working days.
Only a message, a single payment and a certificate stand between you and a registered business.

Genuine Stock, Honest Warranties, Fair Prices: You Know the Trade. We Handle the Filing.
You can tell a real breaker from a cheap copy, you know which brands customers come back for, and you know how a warranty claim goes when the supplier drags their feet. That’s the knowledge your customers are paying for, and nobody can hand it to you. Registration is the part that can be done for you. Once your certificate is in hand, a contractor, a distributor or a bank has a registered business to deal with.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does registration cost, what’s included, and how long does it take? β¦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same across all 21 Kogi LGAs. That covers your name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration, your TIN and a CAC Status Report. It usually takes 5β7 working days. A Limited Liability Company is β¦65,500 all-inclusive.
Is a Business Name enough to run an electrical or electronics business, even a small shop or workshop? For most retailers, repairers and small contractors, yes. It gives you a registered trading name, and you only need a business address in Kogi State, which can be your shop, workshop or storage space. Product and installation approvals are separate.
Business Name or Limited Liability Company, and when should I upgrade? A Business Name suits most people starting out. Consider the LLC when you’re taking on larger contracts, distributing wholesale, opening branches or working with partners. You can convert later, and we can help with that.
Can I register sales, repairs and installation under one name? Yes. One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe your nature of business broadly enough to include all three.
What approvals sit outside CAC registration? SON requirements for products, NEMSA rules for installation work, NCC type approval for network-connected devices, import and customs paperwork, and Kogi State or local permits. Registering with CAC is the base document, and these apply separately depending on what you sell and do.
Will the certificate help with supplier accounts, contractors and banking? Many distributors, contractors and procurement offices ask for proof of registration before setting up an account, and banks ask for a CAC certificate when opening a business account. We register businesses in all 21 Kogi LGAs at the same price and turnaround, and a spare name ready in advance keeps things moving if your first choice is taken.
