Niger State is the biggest state in Nigeria by land area, and a great deal of its working life happens outdoors: rice and grain fields, vegetable plots, fish ponds, tree nurseries, riverside landing points and produce trucks heading for Minna, Suleja and beyond. If you grow, fish, plant or trade farm produce here, putting the business under a registered name is a sensible early step. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We run the name search, submit the filing and collect the certificate for you, wherever in Niger State your farm or fishing business is based. There’s no extra step hiding behind this: message us your business name, and we take it from there.

- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Preparation and filing of your CAC Business Name application
- The CAC government filing/processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)

What Falls Outside This Registration
CAC registration gives the business a legal name. The items below are handled separately, and several are particular to farming, fishing and forestry:
- Printed copies of your certificate (we send a soft copy; print it locally whenever it suits you)
- Land documents for your farm, pond or nursery, such as a lease, allocation or Certificate of Occupancy from the relevant land authority
- Seed certification or registration with the National Agricultural Seeds Council, if you produce or sell seed
- NAFDAC registration for agrochemicals you sell, and for packaged or processed food products
- Any permit needed to fish on the state’s lakes and rivers, or to fell and transport timber, from the relevant state or federal authority. Confirm what applies to your activity
- Farm insurance, storage and transport arrangements for your produce
- State and federal tax obligations that apply to your kind of trade, including VAT where relevant
- A business bank account, opened with your chosen bank once your certificate is in hand
- Annual returns in later years, a small separate step we can handle when it falls due
Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Individual farmers, fish ponds, nurseries and small produce traders | Large commercial farms, agro-processors, and ventures with co-owners or lenders |
A Business Name suits a farm or fishing business you own and run yourself, where you need a legal name for invoices, input suppliers and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering once you farm at scale, share ownership, or deal with lenders and buyers who want a company structure, because the business then stands apart from your personal assets. Many farmers begin with a Business Name and upgrade as the operation grows.
Rice Fields, Research Stations and Three Big Lakes
Farming in Niger State has serious institutions behind it. The National Cereals Research Institute sits at Badeggi, in Bida Local Government Area. Established in 1975, it works on rice, soybean, benniseed and sugarcane. In August 2026, Japan handed over a grant of roughly ¥587 million, about $3.5 million, at Badeggi to strengthen rice seed production, with the equipment list covering tractors, rice transplanters, combine harvesters and excavators for the institute and its outstations. Earlier in 2026 the institute took zinc-enriched rice varieties, FARO 71 and FARO 72, to a field demonstration in Lavun, using an out-grower arrangement of 30 farmers on 30 hectares.
On the water side, a published study of fish farming in the state describes its major rivers, the Niger, Kaduna and Gurara, together with three large reservoirs at Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro. A separate aquaculture study adds that Kainji is home to the Institute for Freshwater Fisheries Research and a source of fish seed used by farms as far away as Kebbi State.
None of this guarantees you a buyer, a grant or a harvest, and we promise none of it. It does describe the setting: growers, seed producers, fish farmers and input sellers working side by side, many of them dealing with suppliers and buyers who like to see a registered name on the paperwork.
Between Planting Windows and Market Trucks
Farm work keeps its own calendar. Rain decides when the seed goes in, the harvest won’t wait for office hours, ponds need feeding on schedule, and a produce truck that arrives late can cost a day’s sales. Nobody finishing a long day in the field looks forward to a government portal. Passing the registration to us means your farm, pond, nursery or produce business ends up with a registered name for invoices, supplier accounts and bank paperwork, while you stay close to the land and the water.

Is This Right for Your Business?
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather not lose a planting window, a harvest day or a morning at the pond to CAC’s portal — you want the filing done while the farm keeps moving.
- You’re planning to move beyond the farm gate — supplying millers, aggregators, hatcheries or institutional buyers, joining an out-grower scheme, or taking on more land — and want a registered name behind that.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a farming or fishing business in Niger State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a farm? For most owner-run farms, ponds, nurseries and produce businesses, yes. It gives you the registered name to trade, invoice and bank under. Land and activity permits are separate.
When would a Limited Liability Company suit a farming business better? When you farm at larger scale, run an agro-processing operation, share ownership with partners, or a lender or buyer asks for a company structure.
Can farming, fish farming and produce trading go under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example crop farming, fish farming and produce sales. One registered name can cover all of them.
Does CAC registration give me land rights or farm permits? No. It gives your business a legal name. Land documents and any permits for your activity come from other authorities.
Do I need NAFDAC or seed registration if I sell agrochemicals, seed or packaged food? Those are separate from CAC. Agrochemicals and packaged food products usually need NAFDAC attention, and seed producers deal with the National Agricultural Seeds Council. Check what applies to your products.
Does registration cover fishing or forestry permits? No. Permits to fish on lakes and rivers or to fell and transport timber are handled by other bodies. Confirm the current requirements for your activity.
Will buyers, millers and agro-dealers ask for a CAC certificate? Larger buyers and suppliers often like to see proof of registration before dealing on credit or in volume, so the certificate is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any sale.
Can I use the certificate to open a bank account or approach a lender? A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, along with your ID and other details. Whether any lender approves finance is for them to decide.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500.
Do you register businesses outside Minna? Yes. We cover Niger State from Suleja and Bida to Kontagora and Borgu, at the same price and turnaround.
My farm is far from town. What address do I use? The application needs a business address in Niger State with its LGA. Send the address you plan to use, such as your home or the place you operate from, and we’ll confirm it works.
What if the name I want is already taken? Send a backup and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Is there anything to file with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step and we can help when the time comes.
Can I move from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many farmers start with a Business Name and convert as the operation grows or partners and lenders come on board. We can help with the conversion.
