Opening a pharmacy, patent medicine shop or medical laboratory in Niger State means working in a trade where customers look for proof that you are the real thing, and where regulators look for it too. Registering the business under its own name is the first piece of paperwork, and it is one that Onelove Business Ventures, an accredited CAC agent, can take off your hands completely. We run the name search, file the application and deliver the certificate, whether your outlet is in Minna, Bida, Kontagora, Suleja or any other part of the state. Send your business name on WhatsApp and consider it handled — that’s genuinely the extent of what’s asked of you.

Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Patent medicine shops, small labs and sole-owner outlets | Wholesale, distribution and partner-owned pharmacy or diagnostic ventures |
For a small outlet run by one owner, a Business Name is often all you need to get a legal identity for invoices, supplier accounts and banking. A Limited Liability Company makes more sense when several people share ownership, when you plan to supply other businesses in volume, or when investors want the business separated from your personal assets. One caution specific to this sector: the Pharmacy Council has its own rules on who may own and run different categories of pharmaceutical premises, so confirm with PCN which structure it accepts for your category before you choose. If you tell us what you plan to open, we’ll give you a straight recommendation.

- Your business address in Niger State, with the LGA stated
- A phone number and email address

- You receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, normally within 5–7 working days.
Six steps, and only two of them involve you — everything else runs on our end.
What Niger State’s Pharmacy Inspections Tell Owners
In August 2025, the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) reported the results of an inspection exercise in Niger State, briefing journalists at its North-Central Zonal Office in Minna. Of 672 premises inspected, 136 were pharmacies and 536 were patent medicine shops, spread across Agaie, Bida, Tafa, Chanchaga, Lapai, Paikoro, Bosso, Suleja and Gurara. The council sealed 486 premises: 69 pharmacies, 127 patent medicine shops and 290 outlets it described as unlicensed. Its advice to the public was to buy only from premises that display a current licence.
For a new owner, the lesson is practical rather than alarming. PCN registers pharmaceutical premises through its zonal and state offices, and its Niger State office is in Minna. Laboratories answer to a different federal body, the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), which regulates medical laboratory services through registration and licensing and has been moving facility registration onto an online platform. Your CAC certificate stands in for neither of these, and neither of them stands in for it. The registered name is simply the identity you carry into those applications, so get the name registered first and take it to the relevant council afterwards.
Registering Pharmacy and Laboratory Businesses Across Niger State
Price, requirements and turnaround stay the same wherever in the state you operate. We register pharmacies, patent medicine shops and laboratories in the towns and areas below, and anywhere else in Niger State.
Minna and the state capital area
- Minna and Chanchaga — the capital, home to the state offices of PCN and a dense mix of pharmacies, wholesalers and diagnostic labs
- Bosso, Paikoro and Shiroro — outlets serving the communities that surround the capital
- Gurara, Tafa and Munya — shops and clinics along the roads linking the capital with neighbouring areas
Suleja and the Abuja-border corridor
- Suleja — a fast-growing town on the edge of the FCT, with steady demand for pharmacies and laboratories
Bida and the southern towns
- Bida, Agaie, Baro and Badeggi — pharmacies and labs in and around the historic Nupe heartland
- Lapai, Gbako, Lavun and Katcha — outlets serving farming towns and river communities
- Edati, Mokwa and Bokani — supply and retail businesses along the southern routes
Kontagora and the north-west
- Kontagora, Kusheriki and Mariga — a major northern trading centre and its neighbouring communities
- Mashegu, Rijau and Magama — patent medicine shops and small pharmacies across wide rural areas
- Auna and Ibeto — outlets in the smaller towns of the north
The western border and Borgu area
- Borgu, Agwara, Babana, Konkwesso, New Shagunnu and Wawa — shops and clinics serving scattered communities far from the capital
Eastern and north-eastern towns
- Rafi, Tegina, Wushishi, Zungeru, Kuta, Ukata and Duku — retail and supply businesses across the state’s smaller towns
If your outlet is anywhere in Niger State, you’re covered.
The Counter and the Bench Come First
A pharmacy day runs on expiry-date checks, a queue of prescriptions, supplier deliveries to be counted and a pharmacist who cannot step away mid-dispense. A laboratory day runs on samples arriving, machines being calibrated and results waiting to be checked and signed. Neither leaves much room to learn a government portal or sit through name-search rejections. Registration is the one item on that list that we can remove from your plate entirely. Once it is done, your outlet has a registered name to place on invoices, supplier accounts and bank paperwork.
Is This Right for Your Business?
Before you decide, here’s an honest look at who gets the most from our service:
- You’d rather not leave a dispensing counter or a sample-collection bench unattended to work out CAC’s portal — whether a prescription queue is building or a batch of samples is waiting to be run.
- You’re growing from a single patent medicine shop or small lab into a full community pharmacy, a diagnostic centre, or supply to clinics and health facilities in your area.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a pharmacy or laboratory in Niger State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your soft-copy Certificate of Registration, a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Does a CAC certificate allow me to open a pharmacy or laboratory? No. It gives your business a registered name. Operating a pharmacy requires premises registration with PCN, and a medical laboratory requires registration with MLSCN. Both are separate from CAC.
Who regulates pharmacies and patent medicine shops in Niger State? The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria. It registers premises through its zonal and state offices, and it also issues the licence for patent and proprietary medicine vendors. Its Niger State office is in Minna.
Do I have to be a pharmacist to register the business name? CAC does not ask for a professional qualification to register a name. PCN, however, has its own requirements about who may own and run pharmaceutical premises, so check those before you commit to a structure.
Can I register a patent medicine shop under a Business Name? Yes, a patent medicine shop can be registered as a Business Name. The vendor’s licence from PCN is a separate application.
Should my pharmacy be a Business Name or a Limited Liability Company? It depends on the category of premises and who owns it. For a small single-owner outlet, a Business Name is often enough. For wholesale, distribution or a venture with partners, a company may suit better. Ask PCN what it accepts for your category, and tell us your plans so we can advise you honestly.
Does my medical laboratory need MLSCN registration as well? Yes. MLSCN is the federal regulator of medical laboratory services and registers and licenses laboratories and their practitioners. That step is separate from CAC.
Can one name cover a pharmacy and a laboratory? You can describe the business broadly, so a single name can cover both. The pharmacy and the laboratory each still need the approval of their own regulator.
Does NAFDAC come into this? NAFDAC regulates drugs and related products. It matters most if you manufacture, import or distribute, and it is handled separately from CAC. Check what applies to your type of business.
Can I register more than one outlet under one name? One registration covers the business as a whole. Premises licences, however, are tied to each location, so confirm the approvals for every outlet you open.
Does registration cover the sale of controlled medicines? No. The handling of controlled or restricted medicines follows separate rules, which apply on top of your business registration.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. Banks usually ask for the CAC certificate along with your ID and other details when opening a business account.
Is the TIN included? Yes, a Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send us a backup name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Is there annual filing to do after registration? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small separate task, and we can help when the time comes.
Can I move from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many owners start with a Business Name and convert when partners join or the business begins supplying others in volume. We can assist with the conversion.
Is the process the same if I’m outside Minna? Yes. Whether you’re in Suleja, Bida, Kontagora or a smaller town, the price, requirements and turnaround are identical.
