Niger State

CAC Business Name Registration for POS Business in Niger State

In a state as big as Niger, a POS terminal, an airtime counter or a data-reselling stand often does the work of a bank branch for people who live a long way from one. That makes the operator a trusted face in the community, and trust is easier to keep when the business is properly on record. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for POS, airtime and telecom-service businesses anywhere in Niger State. One WhatsApp message with your business name is all it takes — we manage the rest.

Why the Address on a POS Registration Matters in a State This Big

Niger is the largest state in Nigeria by land area, with 25 local government areas, and many of its communities are far from the nearest bank. That is where POS agents are most useful. Nationally, a World Bank blog notes that more than 60 percent of the rural communities surveyed had no bank branch, agent or ATM, which is why agent networks matter so much outside the big towns.

The rules around POS operators have tightened, though. In a notice dated 6 December 2025, the Corporate Affairs Commission directed POS operators to register their businesses before 1 January 2026, warning that terminals of unregistered agents could be seized and that fintech companies enabling them could be reported to the Central Bank. Reports also say the CBN earlier restricted POS terminals to a 10-metre radius of their registered address. ThisDay reported that many operators were still unregistered at the deadline and that enforcement might be selective, with grace for small operators in remote areas. Some operators’ associations have disputed the mandatory registration. Enforcement and rules can change, so check the current position with your provider.

CAC registration gives your business a legal name and a registered address. It does not onboard you as an agent or authorise you to handle customers’ money, as explained below.

What Your ₦35,500 Covers

You pay ₦35,500 once for a POS or telecom-service business in Niger State. CAC’s filing fee and our service fee are both included, and nothing is added later. If you’d like to start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company

Best forIndividual POS agents, airtime resellers and small outlets with a few terminalsMulti-outlet operators, telecom contractors, and businesses with partners or investors

A Business Name is a good fit for most one-person or family POS outlets. It gives you a registered name for your bank account, your provider onboarding and your receipts. A Limited Liability Company becomes more attractive when you run several outlets, manage sub-agents, take on telecom installation contracts or bring in partners, since the company is then separate from your personal assets. Many operators start with a Business Name and upgrade later.

Documents to Have Ready

  1. Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
  2. A valid means of ID: National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
  3. A passport photograph
  4. Your business address in Niger State, with the LGA, being the place you actually operate from
  5. A phone number and an email address
  6. Nature of business, in plain terms, such as “POS and agency banking services” or “airtime and data sales, bill payments and POS services”
  7. If you choose a Limited Liability Company: names, ID and details of the directors and shareholders

The Registration Timeline

  1. Name check: we search CAC’s public portal for your first-choice name.
  2. Reservation: we hold the name as soon as it’s confirmed.
  3. Application: we complete the CAC form with your business, owner and Niger State address details.
  4. ID and photo: you send your ID and passport photograph, and a phone picture is fine.
  5. Payment: you make one ₦35,500 payment covering everything above.
  6. Delivery: your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive within 5–7 working days.

Beyond that first message and a single payment, there’s nothing left for you to chase up.

What Falls Outside This Registration

A CAC certificate gives your business a legal name. In payments and telecoms, the following belong to other parties and aren’t part of our service:

The Queue at Your Terminal Doesn’t Wait

The line is already forming. The network drops and comes back. The float runs low by midday on a market day, and a customer needs a transfer before the bank closes. Time spent away from the terminal is money not earned, so a government portal is the last place you want to spend an afternoon. Hand the registration to us instead. When the certificate arrives, your outlet has a registered name and address to show a provider, a bank or a customer who wants to know who is behind the counter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for a POS or telecom-service business in Niger State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

What does the ₦35,500 cover? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), your TIN and a CAC Status Report.

Do POS operators have to register with CAC? In December 2025, the CAC issued a notice directing POS operators to register before 1 January 2026, and some operators’ associations have disputed parts of it. Check the current position, since rules and enforcement can change. Registration gives your business a legal footing either way.

Is a Business Name enough for a POS business? For most individual agents and small outlets, yes. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering if you run several outlets, manage sub-agents or have partners.

Do I need to register agency banking as a separate activity? Reports say the CAC has asked that agency banking be registered as a distinct business activity. We describe your nature of business accordingly, for example “POS and agency banking services”. Confirm any further requirements with your provider.

Does CAC registration make me an agent of a bank or fintech? No. You are onboarded as an agent by the bank, fintech or super-agent whose platform you use. CAC registration gives you the business name to apply under.

Which address should I register, given the 10-metre rule? Use the place where you actually operate. Reports say the CBN restricts terminals to a short radius around the registered address, so a correct address matters. Check the current rule with your provider.

I work from a kiosk or a stand in front of a shop. Can I register? Yes. A kiosk, a shop front and a roadside stand are registered the same way. You need a business address in Niger State with its LGA.

Can airtime and data resellers register? Yes. The price, documents and process are identical. Describe the business as airtime and data sales or whatever fits.

Can I combine POS with airtime, bill payments and printing under one registration? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as “POS, airtime, bill payments and document services”, so the registration covers all of it.

Can a cyber café or document-service centre register? Yes. Printing, scanning, photocopying and online application support are registered the same way as other service outlets.

I install fibre and telecom equipment. Can I register? Yes. Installers and contractors register as businesses like any other trade. Licences for operating a telecom network are a separate matter.

Does CAC registration give me an NCC licence? No. NCC licences are issued separately, to operators providing licensed telecom services.

Can I run an NIN enrolment or SIM registration point after registering? CAC registration gives you the business name. Those services work through NIMC, the networks and their authorised partners, who set their own requirements.

Will my fintech or bank partner ask for the certificate? Many providers ask for proof of registration when onboarding or reviewing agents. Each sets its own conditions, so registration helps but doesn’t guarantee approval.

Does registration protect me from having my terminal seized? We can’t promise that. Registration is one requirement among others, and your provider’s and the regulators’ rules still apply.

Do you register businesses outside Minna and Suleja? Yes. We cover all of Niger State, from Borgu and Kontagora to Bida and Mokwa, at the same price and turnaround.

Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.

Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.

Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It’s a small, separate step, and we can help when it’s due.

What if my first-choice business name is taken? Send a second or third name and we’ll check them straight away. Having backups ready keeps things moving.

Can I switch from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many operators start with a Business Name and convert as outlets and staff grow. We can help with the conversion.

When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you’re building a multi-outlet network, sharing ownership, or an investor wants a company structure, the company route is worth considering from day one.

I operate on the move and don’t have a fixed shop. Which address do I use? You need a business address in Niger State, including the LGA. Send the place you operate from most, or the address you plan to use, and we’ll advise.

Running a POS stand, airtime counter or telecom service in Niger State? Send your business name on WhatsApp → and we’ll start the filing.
