CAC Business Name Registration for Welding in Osun State

Gates, burglar-proof frames, roofing trusses, window guards, steel doors and the scrap that feeds all of it: metalwork keeps a lot of Osun’s homes, shops and building sites standing, and the people behind it often work from a roadside bench with a generator and a reputation. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for welders, fabricators, metal dealers and scrap buyers anywhere in Osun State, so your time stays on the work and not on a registry portal. All it takes to begin is your business name in a WhatsApp message — the paperwork that follows is ours.

What’s Included in the ₦35,500

Your ₦35,500 is a single all-inclusive payment. CAC’s filing fee and our service fee are both built in, and nothing is added later. If you would rather begin as a company, a Limited Liability Company is available at ₦65,500, all-inclusive.

Best forIndividual welders, small workshops and local metal dealersLarger fabrication shops, bulk scrap traders, and firms with partners or outside investors

A Business Name is a good fit for an owner-run workshop or dealership taking jobs from homes, shops and small contractors. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering once you bid for larger fabrication jobs, buy and sell scrap or steel in volume, bring in partners or investors, or find that bigger clients prefer a company, because the business then stands apart from your personal assets. Many metalworkers start with a Business Name and upgrade as the workload grows.

Before You Reach Out

  1. Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
  2. A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
  3. A passport photograph
  4. Your business address in Osun State — indicating the LGA
  5. Phone number and email address
  6. Nature of business — described simply, e.g. “welding and metal fabrication” or “iron rod sales and scrap metal trading”
  7. If you choose Limited Liability Company instead: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders

From Message to Certificate

  1. Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal — handled on our end.
  2. Reserve the name once it is confirmed available.
  3. Complete the application with your business, owner and Osun address details.
  4. Upload your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone photo works.
  5. Pay the ₦35,500 filing fee, one payment covering everything above.
  6. Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.

Your part ends once the details are sent and the payment is made; the filing runs from there without you.

Osogbo’s Idle Steel Mill and the Fabricators Who Work Without It

Osun has a place in Nigeria’s steel story that few welders benefit from. Osogbo is one of the cities that received a federal steel rolling mill, one of several set up alongside the Ajaokuta project. The Osogbo mill was later sold off under a privatisation exercise, and reports over the years have described it as idle. In 2019, then-Governor Gboyega Oyetola called it moribund and said he wanted a meeting with its new owner about reviving it. We could not find confirmation that it is producing today, so treat its current state as unconfirmed. Britannica also lists brass work among the state’s cottage industries, which fits the picture of a state where metal is worked by hand in small shops rather than in large plants.

The practical consequence is that most of the steel Osun’s welders and dealers handle is bought in from elsewhere and cut, bent and joined locally, and the scrap that reaches yards in Osogbo, Ilesa and Ile-Ife is a business of its own. None of that depends on a mill, and none of it depends on CAC registration, which is not a steel supply arrangement, a scrap-dealing licence or a promise about any plant. What it does give a welder or metal dealer is a registered name to put on invoices, quotations and supplier accounts, something that matters when a contractor or a supplier asks who exactly they are dealing with.

Metalwork Is Hot, Loud and Booked Solid

A welder’s day is measured in electrodes, grinding discs and customers who need a gate hung by Friday. There are sparks and glare, a generator to keep fuelled, a customer waiting for burglar-proof frames, and a pile of scrap that needs sorting before the buyer’s truck arrives. Registration is the one job on that list that does not need your hands. Pass it to us, and when a contractor asks for a registered supplier, a bank asks for proof of business, or a customer wants a proper receipt, there is a certificate to show.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for a welding or metal works business in Osun State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Osun your workshop is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.

What do I get for the ₦35,500, and is the TIN included? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a Tax Identification Number and a CAC Status Report. The TIN is part of the same payment.

Is a Business Name enough for a welder or fabricator? For most owner-run workshops, yes. It gives you a registered name to trade, invoice and bank under. If you grow into large fabrication jobs or bring in partners, you can move to a Limited Liability Company.

Can I register welding, fabrication and iron sales under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example “welding, metal fabrication and iron sales”, and one registration covers all of it.

Do I need a separate registration for buying and selling scrap metal? CAC registration gives your scrap business a registered name, but any rules on buying, storing, moving or exporting scrap are separate and can change. Confirm the current requirements before you operate.

Can I register as a mobile welder without a workshop? Yes. You need a business address in Osun State and its LGA, which can be your home or the place you operate from most often.

Will a CAC certificate help me supply contractors or builders? Contractors and suppliers often ask for proof that a vendor is registered before placing an order or paying an invoice, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any contract.

Do my products need SON approval? Some steel products and building materials may be subject to SON standards, depending on what you make or sell. That sits outside CAC registration, so check the position for your products.

Does CAC registration relate to the Osogbo steel rolling mill or any steel scheme? No. Registration gives you a business name and nothing more. It is not a supply arrangement with any mill or a place in any government scheme.

Do you register businesses outside Osogbo and Ile-Ife? Yes. We register metal works businesses across Osun State, from Ikirun and Ila Orangun to Iwo, Ilesa and Ejigbo, at the same price and turnaround.

What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it right away. Two or three options ready keeps things moving.

Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, along with your ID and other details.

Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step and we can help with it when the time comes.

Can I upgrade to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many metalworkers start with a Business Name and convert as the business grows. We can assist with the conversion.

When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are building a larger fabrication shop, trading scrap or steel in volume, sharing ownership with partners, or an investor or large client requires a company structure, the company route is worth considering from day one.
