Business Name or Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Individual mechanics, small workshops, mobile and roadside repairers | Multi-bay garages, towing fleets, dealerships, and operators with partners or fleet clients |
A Business Name is a sensible fit when you run the workshop or the truck yourself and need a registered name for job cards, invoices, parts suppliers and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company becomes the stronger option once several people share ownership, you run a fleet of tow trucks or a multi-bay garage, or fleet and corporate clients expect a company, because the business then stands apart from your personal assets. Starting with a Business Name and upgrading later is a common path.

Dogon Daji: A Mechanics’ Town With Its Own Training Plans
Sokoto has a place with a long mechanical reputation: Dogon Daji, in Tambuwal LGA. At a town hall meeting there, the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) recalled that the district was known for its truck mechanics, who picked up their skills from the 1970s when a road construction company was based in the area. He said NADDC had made arrangements for an automobile workshop and training school in Dogon Daji, with land acquired and compensation paid to the owners. That announcement dates from an earlier period, and we could not confirm that the school has been built, so check its current status with NADDC directly.
NADDC’s wider training work is closer to Sokoto than it used to be. On 11 June 2026 it commissioned an Automotive Training Centre in Gusau, Zamfara State, and graduated 100 youths in mechatronics, saying the centre would serve youths across the North-West. Elsewhere it has run mechatronics and CNG retrofitting training for technicians.
For a mechanic or tow operator, the lesson is simple: skills and equipment are moving toward diagnostics and gas conversion, and the programmes behind that change deal with named people and businesses. A CAC registration gives your workshop a registered name, a TIN and a status report. It does not give you a training place, a certificate of skill or any approval to carry out gas conversions.
Registering Automobile Businesses Across Sokoto State
The price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever your workshop or tow service is located. We register across the areas below.
The capital
- Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Wamako and Kware — garages, tyre shops, auto-electricians and tow services around the state capital
The south-west
- Tambuwal, including Dogon Daji — truck and heavy-duty repairers in a district known for it
- Kebbe, Tureta, Shagari and Yabo — workshops serving local traffic and farm vehicles
North and north-west
- Illela, Gwadabawa, Gudu, Tangaza, Binji and Silame — repairers and roadside mechanics across the northern and north-western areas
East and central
- Bodinga, Dange Shuni and Gada — roadside garages and tyre businesses
- Goronyo, Wurno, Rabah and Gandi — workshops serving farmers, traders and local transport
- Isa and Sabon Birni — repairers across the north-eastern stretch
If your workshop or tow service is anywhere in Sokoto State, you’re covered.
You Know a Truck’s Trouble From the Sound of the Engine; Leave the Forms to Us
Workshop days rarely follow a plan: a part that hasn’t arrived, a customer waiting on a Friday afternoon, a tow call that comes after dark. You can hear what’s wrong with an engine before the bonnet is up, and you know which jobs can wait. Registration is the one item on your list that needs no tools and no waiting. After it’s done, your garage or tow business has a registered name that can sit on job cards, invoices and the supplier or fleet forms that ask for one.
Is This Right for Your Business?
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- Your hands are under a bonnet or on a jack from morning to close — and a customer’s call can come mid-repair, which leaves no room for CAC’s portal.
- You’re aiming past walk-in repairs — toward fleet maintenance, a towing service or a bigger garage with more bays, where companies and transport operators may ask for a registered name before they hire.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You want things kept simple — your details, one payment, your certificate.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a garage or tow business in Sokoto State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in the state your workshop is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What is covered by the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Can I register if I work from a roadside spot or a small shed? The application needs a business address in Sokoto State and its LGA. Send the address you work from or plan to use. Whether a particular spot is allowed for a workshop is a local matter, separate from CAC.
Is a Business Name enough to run a garage or a tow truck? For most owner-run workshops and single-truck operators, a Business Name gives you the registered name you need to start. Road-use and premises requirements are separate.
Does a CAC certificate license me as a mechanic? No. It registers your business name. It is not a skills certificate, a trade-association membership or an approval to work on any particular kind of vehicle.
Can one name cover repairs, tyres and towing? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as automobile repair, tyre services and towing. Approvals for towing and specialised work are handled separately.
Do tow trucks need anything beyond CAC registration? Yes. Tow and recovery vehicles have road-use, licensing and roadworthiness requirements, handled separately. Check the current rules with the relevant road authorities before you start.
Will a CAC certificate help me win fleet or company work? Companies and transport operators often ask for proof of registration before they send vehicles for servicing, so a certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any contract.
When should I start as a Limited Liability Company? If you run several bays or tow trucks, share ownership with partners, or a fleet client or lender asks for a company structure, the company route is worth considering. Otherwise many owners start with a Business Name and upgrade later, and we can assist with the conversion.
What if my chosen name isn’t available, and do I file anything in later years? Send a backup name and we’ll check it right away. Registered businesses have annual returns to file; it’s a small, separate step, and we can help with it when the time comes.
