The Full Breakdown of Your ₦35,500
Your ₦35,500 is one all-inclusive payment for a bar, lounge or entertainment business in Lagos, with CAC’s own filing fee and our service fee already combined. A Business Name is the simpler route for most venue owners. A Limited Liability Company is also available at ₦65,500, all-inclusive, if you prefer a company structure from the start.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Completion and submission of the CAC Business Name application
- CAC government filing/processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report confirming your business is active on the public register
Separate From This Registration
- Physical/printed copies of your certificate (delivered as soft copy; print locally whenever convenient)
- Registration and licensing of tourism and hospitality establishments with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, which the state has said covers bars, lounges and nightclubs
- Environmental approvals and noise-control compliance with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA)
- Liquor and alcohol-sales approvals, where they apply to your type of venue
- Music, entertainment and public-performance licences for playing or hosting music, where applicable
- Fire-safety, crowd-capacity and building requirements for the premises
- Signage and outdoor advertising approvals from the relevant Lagos State agency
- Food-handling and health requirements if you serve meals
- Rent, lease or shop documents, and any local levies on the premises
- Business bank account opening, done with your chosen bank once your certificate is in hand
- Annual returns filing in future years — a small, separate step we can also help with when the time comes
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Independent bars, small lounges and sole-owner venues | Larger clubs, multi-outlet operators, and ventures with partners or investors |
A Business Name gives most sole-owner bars and small lounges a legal name to trade, invoice and bank under. A Limited Liability Company starts to make sense once you run a larger club, open several outlets, or bring in partners or investors, because it keeps your personal assets separate from the venue’s debts and liabilities. Starting with a Business Name and converting later is a common route.
Why Compliance Is Part of Running a Lagos Bar
Lagos nightlife operates under active regulation. In September 2026, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) sealed 12 establishments across areas including Ogba, Idimu-Ikota, Ejigbo, Igando and Agodo-Egbe. The list included lounges, a nightclub and hotels. The agency cited noise pollution and non-compliance with its directives, and said the premises had received warnings and abatement notices before the sealing. Earlier, the state’s environment ministry had warned bars, lounges and nightclubs, especially in the Lekki axis, over noise.
Separately, the state has launched a registration and licensing scheme for hotels, bars, nightclubs, lounges and beach resorts through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, with sanctions threatened for operators who don’t register. Your CAC registration does not replace either of these. It is the first step: a registered name and a certificate give the business an identity to apply and be recorded under. Each agency has its own rules, so confirm what applies to your venue before you open.
Hosting Is the Craft; the Paperwork Shouldn’t Take Your Nights
A good bar is built on things guests feel but rarely notice: the right music at the right volume, drinks served quickly, a door that is handled calmly, and a clean place at closing time. You manage stock, staff rotas, suppliers and the unpredictable rhythm of weekends, match days and events. Registering your business name is one task on that list you can hand off. When it’s done, your bar has a registered name for supplier accounts, invoices and the bank.

This Might Be a Great Fit If…
Every bar owner runs things differently, and so do registration agents — here’s who we tend to suit best:
- You’d rather not spend a morning on CAC’s portal when you could be sorting stock, rotas and deliveries before the evening rush.
- You’re planning to grow beyond the first venue — from a neighbourhood bar to a lounge with a kitchen, a second outlet, or event nights with bigger bookings.
- You want a recommendation matched to your stage — if a Business Name carries you through opening night and beyond, we’ll say so.
- You want the cost known before you start — ₦35,500 covers the filing and our fee, with no extras added after payment.
If that’s how you like to work, send your business name and let us get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a bar or lounge in Lagos State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Lagos you are. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
How do I receive my documents? As soft copies sent through WhatsApp. You print them locally whenever you need hard copies.
Is a Business Name enough to run a bar or lounge? For most sole-owner bars and small lounges, a Business Name gives you the legal name you need to start trading properly. Licences and approvals for the venue itself are handled separately.
Can I register a bar and a restaurant under one name? Yes. Describe your nature of business broadly, for example “bar, lounge and restaurant”, and one registration covers the whole business. Food-handling and other approvals are handled separately.
Does CAC registration give me a liquor licence? No. It gives your business a legal name. Any liquor or alcohol-sales approvals are separate, so confirm what applies to your venue.
Do I still need to register with the Lagos State tourism ministry? Yes, the state has said hotels, bars, nightclubs, lounges and beach resorts are covered by its hospitality registration and licensing scheme. This is handled separately from CAC, and the CAC certificate is useful to have for it.
What about LASEPA and noise rules? Environmental and noise compliance is handled by the state environmental agency and is separate from CAC. Noise has been a recurring enforcement issue for lounges, clubs and hotels, so plan for it before you open.
Do I need a licence to play music at my venue? Public-performance and music licensing rules are separate from CAC. Check what applies before you play or host music commercially.
I run a small beer parlour from a shop. Can I still register? Yes. You need a business address in Lagos State and your LGA. A shop, stall, compound or rented space can all work.
My venue is in a rented space. Can I use that address? Yes, use the address where the business operates and your LGA. Lease and landlord arrangements are separate.
Can I register a games or sports-viewing lounge? Yes. Describe the business in your nature of business and send your details as usual. Any special approvals for gaming or betting are separate and strictly regulated.
Will a CAC certificate help me open supplier accounts with drinks distributors? Many distributors ask for proof of business registration before setting up a trade account, so it’s often a useful first document. It does not guarantee credit terms.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, along with your ID and other details.
Do you register venues outside the Island and Ikeja? Yes. We register bars, lounges and entertainment businesses across all of Lagos State at the same price and turnaround.
When should I switch from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company? Usually once you operate a larger club, open several outlets, or bring in partners or investors.
Can I upgrade later without starting over? Yes. Many venues begin with a Business Name and convert as they grow. We can help with the conversion.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step and we can help with it when the time comes.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it right away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I register a party or event hosting venue the same way? Yes. Describe the services in your nature of business and send your details as usual.
Can I register a karaoke or live-music venue? Yes. Describe the venue in your nature of business, for example “live music and entertainment venue”, and send your details as usual. Music and performance licences are handled separately.
