CAC Business Name Registration for Bar & Lounge in Ogun State

A busy Friday night in Ogun State might be in a neighbourhood bar in Abeokuta, a lounge near Ota, a club in Sagamu or a viewing centre in Ijebu Ode, and every one of them depends on the same things: a crowd, a sound system, cold drinks and a name people trust. Putting that name on paper with CAC is a sensible first step before suppliers, promoters and banks start asking for it. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We run the name search, file the application and deliver your certificate for bars, lounges, clubs and entertainment businesses anywhere in Ogun State. A Business Name is ₦35,500 all-inclusive, and a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.

It really is this simple: send us your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll handle everything else.

NAFDAC and the Police Are Checking Ogun’s Bars: What It Means for You

In August 2026, NAFDAC’s Ogun Office 1 and the Ogun State Police Command announced closer cooperation on enforcing alcohol rules. The State Coordinator of NAFDAC’s Ogun Office 1 met the Commissioner of Police at the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, and said enforcement had begun in Abeokuta and was being extended to other parts of the state. A major focus is withdrawing alcoholic drinks sold in sachets and in PET bottles under 200ml (20cl) from circulation. NAFDAC said its teams were visiting markets, motor parks, bars, retail outlets, warehouses and factories. The agency also said it can act against counterfeit, unregistered, adulterated, substandard, expired or wrongly labelled products, and against facilities operating without the necessary approvals. The Commissioner added that the police were enforcing the Liquor Act and related laws on the sale and distribution of alcohol in Ogun.

For a bar or lounge owner, the practical points are about stock and paperwork: buy from distributors you can identify, keep invoices, stay clear of banned pack sizes and sell only approved products. A registered business name does not itself give you a liquor licence or protect you from enforcement. What it does is give the business a legal identity to buy, sell and keep records under, and to show to suppliers, landlords and officers when asked.

Best forSingle bars, lounges, DJs and small event businessesLarge clubs and venues, multi-outlet operators, and owners with partners or investors

A Business Name is usually enough while you run one venue yourself and need a legal name for suppliers, bookings and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering when the venue is large, when ownership is shared with partners, or when an investor or landlord wants to deal with a company. It also helps to keep the business separate from your personal assets, which is a real concern in a trade with crowds and late nights. Many owners register a Business Name first and upgrade as the venue grows.

Your Hours Are the Wrong Ones for Paperwork

Running a bar means working when everyone else is off. The shift starts as the day ends: crates delivered, ice sorted, the sound system checked, staff briefed, then hours of serving, settling disputes at the door and counting the till when the last guest has gone. By then, the CAC portal and the offices that deal with it are the last thing on your mind. It is also a job that can be done without you. You keep running the night, and we handle the registration, so that when a distributor, promoter or landlord asks for your business details, you have a registered name to give them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for a bar or lounge in Ogun State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Ogun State your venue is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.

What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.

Does CAC registration give me a liquor licence? No. A liquor licence is separate and issued by the appropriate authorities under the applicable liquor law. Confirm what you need before you start selling alcohol.

What are NAFDAC and the police checking in Ogun’s bars? In August 2026, they announced joint enforcement against sachet alcohol and PET-bottled alcohol under 200ml, and said NAFDAC would also act on unregistered, counterfeit, expired or mislabelled products and on facilities without approvals. Check the current rules for the drinks you stock.

Is a Business Name enough for a single bar? For most owner-run bars and lounges, yes. It gives you a registered name for suppliers, bookings and a bank account. Large venues or shared ownership may prefer a company.

Can DJs, promoters and sound-hire businesses register too? Yes. Entertainment and event-services businesses are registered the same way as bars. Describe your activity in the nature of business.

Can I register a bar and a restaurant or event hall under one name? Yes. Describe the business broadly. Food service, events and late-night opening may carry their own approvals.

Do I need the Ogun State premises permit as well? The state’s permit portal describes it as an annual permit for businesses operating from premises, with lock-up shops and kiosks excepted. Check how it applies to your venue. CAC registration does not replace it.

Do I need music licensing to play music in my venue? Public performance of music is usually subject to separate licensing through the relevant copyright bodies. Confirm what applies to your venue.

I’m still fitting out the venue. Can I register now? You need a business address in Ogun State and its LGA for the application. If the venue is not ready, send the address you plan to use.

What if my first name choice is taken? Send a second name and we will check it straight away. Two or three options ready keeps things moving.

Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. Banks ask for the certificate with your ID and other details when opening a business account.

Will a CAC certificate help with corporate or event bookings? Companies and organisations often ask for proof of registration before booking venues or services. The certificate is a useful document to have, but it does not guarantee any booking.

Do I file anything with CAC after registration? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small separate step, and we can help when it falls due.

When does a Limited Liability Company make sense for a bar or club? If you are building a large venue or running several outlets, sharing ownership with partners, or an investor requires a company, consider it from the start. You can also begin with a Business Name and upgrade later.

Your nights already keep you busy; the registration needn’t. Send your business name on WhatsApp →
