A bar, lounge or club lives on its regulars and its reputation, and the owners who last are usually the ones whose paperwork was in order long before the busy weekends arrived. In Oyo State, putting the business under a registered name is a sensible first piece of that paperwork. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for bars, lounges and entertainment venues anywhere in Oyo State, so your attention stays on the floor, the stock and the crowd. Your side of this is one WhatsApp message with your business name; the rest of the work stays with us.

Oyo State’s Push to Register and Document Its Hospitality Businesses
Oyo State has been tightening its grip on the hospitality sector, and bars and lounges are firmly inside its scope. The Oyo State Tourism and Hospitality Law 2020 makes registration of hospitality businesses with the state’s tourism authorities mandatory. In an earlier campaign, the Oyo State Tourism Board and the Hoteliers Association of Oyo State warned that unregistered hotels, guest houses, clubs, bars, lounges, restaurants and event centres could be shut down.
The drive has been renewed. At a tourism and hospitality conference in Ibadan in September 2026, the state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Development said most hospitality operators in the state are not registered, and that those who are registered do not pay their dues regularly. He described a three-stage process: identification, cooperation and enforcement. Identification involves profiling facilities across the state’s local government areas, and enforcement was due to begin the following month, targeting businesses that fail to register or remit dues after the cooperation window. He also asked hospitality businesses to submit monthly figures of their customers. Representatives of lounges and nightclubs were among those at the session.
⏱️ Turnaround Time: 5 – 7 Working Days
✅ What You Get: Official CAC Certificate + Certified Status Report
🚚 Delivery: Soft Copy Sent via WhatsApp (Print Hard Copy Locally)
CAC registration is a separate step from registering with the tourism authorities, and it does not replace it. A registered business name is, though, the usual starting point for that paperwork, and it is also what banks, suppliers and partners expect. Confirm the current registration, dues and reporting requirements directly with the Oyo State Tourism Board and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, since the position may have moved on.
📋 CAC Business Name Registration
💰 Cost: ₦35,500 (All-Inclusive) ⏱️ Turnaround Time: 5 – 7 Working Days ✅ What You Get: Official CAC Certificate + Certified Status Report + TIN 🚚 Delivery: Soft Copy Sent via WhatsApp (Print Hard Copy Locally)
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Neighbourhood bars, lounges and small venues run by one owner or a family | Nightclubs, larger venues, partner-owned lounges and operators seeking investors or lenders |
A Business Name suits a bar or lounge that you run yourself or with family and that serves a regular local crowd. A Limited Liability Company becomes worth considering when the venue is large, when partners share ownership, when you are raising money from an investor or lender, or when the business carries enough risk that you want it separate from your personal assets. Many owners start with a Business Name and convert later.
What’s Included in the ₦35,500
You make one payment, and it covers CAC’s filing fee and our service fee together. If you would rather start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- A check that your preferred business name is available on CAC’s register
- Reservation of the name once it clears
- Preparation and submission of your CAC Business Name application
- The CAC government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
What’s Not Usually Included

- Registration with the Oyo State Tourism Board. Registration under the state’s hospitality law, and any dues that go with it, are arranged with the state’s tourism authorities.
- Customer or returns reporting. Any monthly customer figures or similar returns the Ministry of Culture and Tourism asks hospitality businesses to submit are your own responsibility.
- Alcohol-sale approvals. Any liquor-related licence or permit that state or local authorities require for your premises is arranged separately. Check the current requirements for your type of venue.
- Music and performance licences. Playing recorded music or hosting live acts in a venue may require licences from the relevant copyright collecting society.
- Fire safety, building and occupancy approvals for the premises, including crowd-capacity and exit arrangements.
- Noise and environmental requirements, dealt with through the local government, the state environmental authorities and, where it applies, NESREA.
- Food-handler and health requirements if you serve food, handled with the relevant health authorities.
- Stock that meets NAFDAC requirements. Drinks and packaged items you buy for resale should comply with NAFDAC rules, which is a matter between you and your suppliers.
- Security and crowd-control arrangements for your door and car park.
- State and federal tax obligations for your business, beyond the TIN issued with your certificate.
- Opening a business bank account, done with your chosen bank once the certificate is in hand.
- Annual returns in later years. A small, separate step that we can help with.

Your Busiest Hours Are Other People’s Quiet Ones
Running a bar means working while everyone else is relaxing: the fridge to restock before opening, diesel for the generator when the power drops, staff rosters for the weekend rush, a DJ to set up, a door to manage and noise complaints to head off before they start. Match nights and long weekends pile on more. None of that leaves a spare afternoon for learning an online filing system. Registration is one job that someone else can take from start to finish. Once it is done, your venue operates under a registered name that appears on supplier invoices, bank forms and the paperwork a bigger partner will eventually ask for.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
Not every registration service is the right match for every business owner, and that’s fine — here’s who tends to get the most out of working with us:
- You do your real work after dark, and you’d rather not spend the afternoon you’d use for stocktaking and staff rosters learning CAC’s portal — you want the filing finished while the venue keeps running.
- You’re planning to turn a single bar into a lounge with a kitchen, a second outlet, or a venue that hosts shows and private events — and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You want one message to actually mean one message — no chasing documents back and forth, no surprise extra fees once you’ve paid.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a bar or lounge in Oyo State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Oyo State your venue is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a bar or lounge? For most owner-run venues, yes. It gives you the legal name and registration to trade under. Licences and approvals for the premises are separate matters.
Does CAC registration replace registration with the Oyo State Tourism Board? No. Registration with the state’s tourism authorities is a separate requirement, and your CAC registration does not replace it. Confirm the current rules with the board.
Do I need CAC registration before I register with the tourism board? A registered business name is the usual starting point for that process, but requirements can change, so check with the board or the Ministry of Culture and Tourism directly.
Does this include a liquor licence? No. Any approval for selling alcohol on your premises is arranged separately with the relevant authorities.
What should I put as the nature of business for a bar and lounge? Plain words are fine, for example “bar and lounge services”. Add anything else you do, such as entertainment or a food counter.
Can I register a bar and a kitchen or grill under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly when you apply. The food side may need its own health approvals.
Are nightclubs, lounges and beer parlours registered the same way? Yes. The process, price and turnaround are the same for every type of bar or entertainment venue.
Can I register a games lounge, snooker or karaoke venue? Yes. Describe the nature of business in plain words, such as “games and entertainment lounge”.
I host live music and show nights. Is that covered? You can include entertainment in the nature of business. Music and performance licences are separate.
I run a bar inside a hotel. Can I register it separately? If you operate the bar as your own business, yes. A hotel’s own registration does not cover a bar run by someone else.
Can I register before my venue opens? Yes, as long as you have an address and LGA for the application. If you are still arranging premises, send the address you plan to use.
Will a CAC certificate help me deal with suppliers and sponsors? Drink distributors, suppliers and event partners often ask for proof of registration. The certificate helps with that request, but it does not guarantee any deal.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step that we can help with when it falls due.
What if my first choice of name is taken? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many venues start with a Business Name and convert when they grow or bring in partners. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start as a Limited Liability Company? If you are building a large venue, sharing ownership with partners, or an investor or lender requires a company, the company route is worth considering from day one.
Do you register venues outside Ibadan, such as in Ogbomosho, Saki or Iseyin? Yes. We register bars, lounges and entertainment businesses across all of Oyo State, at the same price and turnaround.
