Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For

Your ₦35,500 is a single payment. The CAC filing fee and our own fee are both inside it, and nothing is billed afterwards. Prefer to start as a company? A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

Outside the Scope of This Registration

Registering the name is one step. A bar or entertainment venue usually has several others, and these are handled separately from our service:

Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company

Business NameLimited Liability Company
All-inclusive cost₦35,500₦65,500
Personal liability protectionNoYes

Best forOwner-run bars, lounges and beer gardens with one proprietorLarger nightlife venues, multi-outlet operators and ventures with co-owners or investors

If you are the owner and day-to-day manager of one venue, a Business Name usually covers what you need: a legal trading name, invoices that carry it and a business bank account to match. The company route starts to make sense when several people share ownership, when you are putting real money behind a bigger venue or a second outlet, or when a partner wants limited liability. Plenty of venue owners begin with a Business Name and convert later.

Before You Reach Out

  1. Two proposed business names, in order of preference
  2. A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
  3. A passport photograph
  4. Your business address in Plateau State, including the LGA
  5. A phone number and email address
  6. A short description of your business — for example “bar and lounge” or “bar, lounge and live entertainment”
  7. If you go the Limited Liability Company route: names, ID and details of the directors and shareholders

From Message to Certificate

  1. Name check — we search the CAC register to confirm your first-choice name is free.
  2. Name reservation — once it clears, we hold the name for you.
  3. Application — we complete the CAC form with your business, owner and Plateau State address details.
  4. ID and photo upload — you send your ID and passport photograph; a phone picture works.
  5. One payment — you pay the ₦35,500, which covers every item listed above.
  6. Delivery — your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report reach you, usually within 5–7 working days.

Six steps, and only two of them involve you — everything else runs on our end.

Running a Bar in Plateau: Hospitality Plans and Night-Hours Rules

Plateau State markets itself as the “Home of Peace and Tourism,” and it has a dedicated Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Hospitality alongside a state Tourism Corporation. Recent years have seen the state push to revive its hospitality assets in Jos. The government has inspected remodelling work at the Plateau Hotel and Hill Station Hotel, and developers have described a poolside bar among the facilities planned at Hill Station. The governor has also listed the Solomon Lar Amusement Park among the projects being revived through public-private partnerships. Each year the Unity Carols and Praise Festival ushers in December and draws visitors into the state, which means a seasonal swell of people looking for somewhere to sit, eat and relax.

Night-time operating rules are a separate matter, and one that Plateau bar owners know well. The Plateau State Police Command has, on past occasions, restricted drinking joints at night. Ahead of the 2024 Christmas and New Year period, it announced restrictions on night operation of drinking joints between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. in Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Mangu, Riyom and Bokkos, running from December 23 to January 3. Earlier that year, a curfew was imposed on the Jos/Bukuru metropolis and relaxed in stages. These directives were time-limited and have no connection to CAC registration, but they show why a venue owner benefits from having the admin side settled well before the busy season. Check current directives with the police command and your local authorities, then register the name so the business itself stands on solid ground.

Your Trade Is the Night Shift; the Paperwork Can Be Ours

You know what makes a venue work: cold drinks when the first customers walk in, a generator that holds through the match, a sound system that doesn’t crackle, a doorman who keeps the peace and a closing-time cash-up that actually balances. You are also managing a staff roster, supplier deliveries and the slow weekday evenings that pay for the busy weekends. Getting a business name registered is one item on that list we can lift off you entirely. Once it is done, your venue can trade under a recognised name on invoices, supplier accounts and bank forms.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for a bar or lounge in Plateau State? A Business Name is ₦35,500, all-inclusive, for any venue in the state. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

What does the ₦35,500 actually cover? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, CAC’s government fee, your soft-copy Certificate of Registration, your TIN and a CAC Status Report.

Is a Business Name enough for a bar, lounge or nightclub? For a single owner-run venue, yes, it usually gives you the registered name you need to begin trading. Larger or co-owned ventures often move to a company structure.

Does CAC registration let me sell alcohol? No. It gives your business a legal name. Any liquor or beverage-sale permission is a separate approval from the relevant state or local authorities, so confirm it for your premises.

Does the price change if my venue is outside Jos? No. A bar in Shendam, Wase or Langtang pays the same as a lounge in Jos, and the timeline is identical.

Why register a small beer parlour or joint at all? A registered name lets you open a business bank account, issue invoices in the business’s name and deal with suppliers more formally. For what the rules require for your specific premises, confirm with the relevant authorities.

Can I register a bar and a kitchen or restaurant under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of the business broadly. Serving meals may bring its own food-handling and health requirements.

Do live music, DJ nights or screenings need anything else? They may. Public performance of music or screening of films can involve licensing separate from CAC, so check the current requirements before you start.

Do operating hours depend on my CAC registration? No. Operating hours for drinking venues are set by the security agencies and local authorities, and they can change, especially around festive periods.

How long does it take, and how do I receive the certificate? Usually 5–7 working days. We send your certificate, TIN and Status Report as soft copies on WhatsApp, and you print them locally.

I haven’t secured my premises yet. Can I still register? The application needs a business address in Plateau State and its LGA. If you are still finalising the venue, send the address you intend to use.

Can one registration cover two outlets? One registration covers your business as a whole. Premises-level approvals generally apply to each location, so confirm what each outlet needs.

What if my first-choice name is taken? Send a backup. We check the alternatives straight away, and having two or three ready keeps things moving.

Will a certificate help with suppliers or distributors? Suppliers and distributors often ask for proof of registration before arranging credit or regular deliveries. The certificate is a useful document to have, though it does not guarantee any trade terms.

Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. The certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.

Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.

Are there CAC filings in the years after registration? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when it falls due.

Can I upgrade to a Limited Liability Company later, and when should I start with one? You can convert later, and we can assist. Starting as a company from day one is worth considering if you have co-owners or investors, or if you are building a larger venue.
