Every house, shop and fence in Osun State starts with someone who supplied the blocks, the cement, the sand or the roofing sheets. If you mould blocks, run a building materials store, or haul sand and granite to sites, registering the business under a proper name is a practical first step. Onelove Business Ventures is a CAC-accredited agent. We search the name, file the application and collect your certificate, whichever part of Osun State your yard or shop is in. A Business Name registration is ₦35,500, all-inclusive. Tell us your business name on WhatsApp and we carry it from there — nothing else is needed from you at this stage.

Osun’s Mining Rules and the Standard Behind a Sandcrete Block
Two things shape this trade in Osun, and neither is handled by CAC. The first is where your raw materials come from. In December 2022, Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered firms working under the state’s mining licences to suspend operations, and told them to bring their memoranda of understanding with the state to an assets verification committee. Reports at the time said the state had 100 mineral titles, six of them held by the government, and described the move as part of a reform of the solid minerals sector. The suspension was meant to last until the review was finished, and we have not confirmed how it has since developed, so check the current position before you rely on any supplier. In practice, it is worth buying sand, granite and laterite from operators who can show their licences. Registering your business name does not give anyone the right to dig or quarry.
The second is the product itself. Sandcrete blocks in Nigeria are measured against the Nigerian Industrial Standard for sandcrete blocks, NIS 87. A published technical guide to it describes load-bearing and non-load-bearing types, set block sizes and minimum compressive strengths of 2.5 N/mm² for non-load-bearing and 3.45 N/mm² for load-bearing walls, with a recommended cement-to-sand mix of 1:8. Buyers who have seen weak blocks crumble tend to ask where yours were made and how they were tested. A registered business name gives you something to put on invoices and delivery notes, though it says nothing about block strength on its own.
Block and Building Materials Businesses We Register in Osun
- Sandcrete block moulding yards — hollow and solid blocks made on-site or at a dedicated yard.
- Interlocking paving and concrete product makers — pavers, kerbs, culverts, slabs and decorative blocks.
- Cement depots and distributors — stockists supplying bags by the truckload or by the bag.
- Building materials shops — iron rods, nails, roofing sheets, pipes, paint and general hardware.
- Sand, gravel and granite suppliers — resellers who load, haul and deliver to building sites.
- Tile, ceiling and POP dealers — floor and wall finishes, ceiling boards and plaster fittings.
- Plumbing and electrical fittings sellers — pipes, taps, cables, sockets and the rest of the second fix.
- Roofing and aluminium sheet dealers — long-span sheets, accessories and installation supply.
What Falls Outside This Registration
- Mining and quarry licences — extracting sand, granite or laterite requires the proper mineral and environmental approvals, which are separate from CAC.
- Environmental approvals for sand and gravel sites — dredging, excavation and haulage can attract their own conditions from the relevant authorities.
- Block quality testing — compressive strength and mix checks against NIS 87 are done with a laboratory or the standards body, not through this registration.
- SON requirements — where Standards Organisation of Nigeria rules apply to a particular product you make or sell, they are handled separately.
- Building and planning approvals — permits for putting up a yard, shed or shop on your land.
- State and local government permits — signage, market or yard levies and similar local requirements.
- Import requirements — customs, duties and quality rules if you bring in tiles, roofing sheets or fittings from abroad.
- Tax obligations — ongoing filings and obligations beyond the TIN you receive.
- Trademark registration — optional, and worth considering for a brand name you stamp on blocks or bags.
- Business bank account — opened with your chosen bank once your certificate is ready.
- Printed copies of your certificate — we send a soft copy, and you print it locally when you need one.
- Annual returns — a small separate step in later years that we can also help with.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Block yards, cement depots, hardware shops and small suppliers | Larger plants, businesses with partners, and those supplying bigger projects |
A Business Name usually suits a sole-owner or family-run block yard, depot or shop, where the priority is a legal name for invoices, deliveries and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company becomes worth considering once the business is bigger, ownership is shared, or you are chasing larger buyers, since the business then stands separate from your personal assets and some larger buyers prefer to deal with a company. Ask the customers you are aiming for what they expect before deciding. Many owners begin with a Business Name and upgrade as the business grows.

Cement Trucks, Curing Racks and Paperwork That Has to Wait
Nobody running a block yard has spare mornings. A cement truck arrives and needs unloading, sand has to be turned and measured, fresh blocks sit on the racks and need watering as they cure, and a customer’s pickup is waiting at the gate for a load. The rainy season slows moulding and drying, and the dry months bring a rush of site orders. A materials shop has its own version: stock counts, price changes from suppliers and walk-in buyers who want an answer now. The business name is one job on that list that someone else can do for you. Once it is done, your deliveries, receipts and bank account all carry the same registered name.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’re running between the mould, the sand pile and the loading bay, and sitting down with CAC’s portal is the last thing you’ll do before the next truck arrives.
- You’re moving from selling blocks off the yard to supplying contractors and estate developers in Osogbo, Ile-Ife and Ilesa — or adding paving, ceiling boards or a second outlet — and want a registered name that can grow with that.
- You want honest advice, not an upsell — if a Business Name covers your stage, that’s what we’ll recommend.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a block industry or building materials business in Osun State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Osun you are. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a block-making yard? For most owner-run yards, depots and shops, a Business Name gives you the legal name and registration you need to start trading properly. Environmental, planning and local permits are separate matters.
Does CAC registration let me mine sand or run a quarry? No. Extracting sand, granite or laterite needs its own mineral and environmental approvals. CAC registration only gives you a registered business name.
Does registration certify the quality of my blocks? No. Block quality is judged against the Nigerian Industrial Standard for sandcrete blocks and checked through testing. A CAC certificate only shows that your business is registered.
I only resell cement and building materials. Do I still need registration? A registered name helps with invoices, supplier accounts and banking, and it lets you trade under a name you can protect. Resellers of building materials can register the same way as block makers.
Can I register block moulding and a building materials shop under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly. Each activity may need its own approvals.
Will contractors or estate developers ask for a CAC certificate? Larger buyers often want proof that a supplier is registered before dealing with them, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any order.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Does my business address have to be a block yard? No. The application needs a business address in Osun State with the LGA. Anything about your yard’s land, structures or permits is separate.
I’m still arranging my yard. Can I register now? You need an address in Osun State and its LGA for the application. If you are still sorting out premises, send the address you plan to use.
Do you register businesses outside Osogbo? Yes. We handle block and building materials businesses across Osun State, from Iwo and Ede to Ilesa and Ife, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when the time comes.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many block and materials businesses start with a Business Name and convert as the operation grows or partners join. We can help with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are building a larger plant, sharing ownership with partners, or targeting buyers who prefer dealing with a company, the Limited Liability Company route is worth considering from day one.
How will I receive my certificate? As a soft copy on WhatsApp. You print the hard copy locally whenever you need one.
What if I run more than one yard or outlet? One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe it broadly. Local permits generally attach to each site, so check the approvals for every location you run.
