Block moulders, cement dealers and sand and granite suppliers supply the material that every building in Oyo State is made from, and that makes the business name behind them matter. Customers want to know who made the blocks and who sold the cement, and a registered name answers that question. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for block industries and building materials businesses anywhere in Oyo State, so your attention stays on the yard, the stock and the deliveries. Begin by texting us your business name on WhatsApp; the filing, the follow-up and the certificate are ours to see through.

Separate From This Registration
- Printed copies of your certificate. You receive a soft copy on WhatsApp and print it locally when you need it.
- Standards compliance. Blocks and other building materials may need to meet Standards Organisation of Nigeria requirements, which you should confirm for your product line.
- Compliance with Oyo State’s materials law. The state government has told block makers to follow its law on building and civil engineering materials. Check the current requirements with the relevant ministry.
- Quarry, sand and mining permits. If you extract sand, granite or gravel yourself, the permits for that work are arranged separately with the relevant mining and environmental authorities.
- Environmental requirements for dust, water use, runoff and the restoration of sand pits, handled with the state environmental authorities and, where it applies, NESREA.
- Land and site papers for your yard or depot, including title documents and any local government permits.
- Registration of your delivery trucks. The state requires trucks and other vehicles to carry valid registration and displayed plates, which is handled through vehicle licensing and not through CAC.
- Worker safety arrangements for your yard, including protective equipment and safe handling of machinery.
- Trade association membership. Joining a body such as the National Association of Block Moulders of Nigeria is optional and arranged with that association.
- State and federal tax obligations for your business, beyond the TIN issued with your certificate.
- Opening a business bank account, done with your chosen bank once the certificate is in hand.
- Annual returns in later years. A small, separate step that we can help with.
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Small block yards, sandcrete moulders and materials shops owned by one person or a family | Larger block factories, quarry and aggregate suppliers, contractor suppliers, and businesses with partners |
A Business Name suits a block yard or materials store that you own and run yourself, selling to individual builders and small contractors. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering when the operation is large, when equipment and stock represent real money at risk, when partners share ownership, or when developers and contractors who buy in volume prefer to deal with a company. Many owners begin with a Business Name and convert later.

Your job ends once the details are in and the payment is made; the filing and delivery run without you.
Why Oyo State Cares About the Blocks Going Into Its Buildings
The Oyo State government has said plainly that blocks are not a minor product. Speaking at the inauguration of new state officers of the National Association of Block Moulders of Nigeria in Ibadan, a state commissioner said Oyo has zero tolerance for building collapse. He warned that blocks not properly made to standard could cause great harm, and urged block moulders to follow the guidelines of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria and the state’s law on building and civil engineering materials.
Building safety has stayed in the news since. After a building collapse in the Jegeda Olunloyo area of Ona Ara in Ibadan killed eleven people in 2024, state officials said they would carry out integrity tests on buildings across the state. In a later collapse of a building under construction at Dugbe in Ibadan, the state commissioner for lands, housing and urban development said some of the materials appeared sub-standard. The site was sealed and the government ordered integrity tests, to be carried out by professionals from the Ministry of Works.
For a block maker or materials dealer, this means more attention to what goes into every delivery. A registered business name makes you a traceable, accountable supplier, which is what builders, contractors and regulators look for. To be clear, none of the reports we reviewed say CAC registration is a condition for making or selling blocks, so confirm the current rules with the state ministry and SON. What registration gives you is a legal name to put on invoices, delivery notes and supply agreements.
Block and Materials Dealers Across Oyo State
The price, documents and turnaround are the same wherever your yard or store is located. We register block industries and building materials businesses across the state, including in the areas below.
Ibadan, the state capital
- Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-East and Ibadan South-West — block yards, cement depots and materials stores across the capital
Around Ibadan
- Akinyele, Egbeda, Lagelu, Ido, Oluyole and Lalupon — yards and depots serving construction on the roads in and out of the city
Oyo town, Ogbomosho and the central towns
- Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba, Afijio and Fiditi — block makers and materials stores in and around the historic town
- Ogbomosho North, Ogbomosho South, Surulere, Ogo Oluwa and Ori Ire — yards and suppliers serving a major trading town and its surroundings
Ibarapa
- Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, Igbo-Ora and Orita-Eruwa — materials businesses in the farm-belt towns west of Ibadan
Oke-Ogun and the northern border area
- Saki East, Saki West, Iseyin, Okeho, Igboho, Igbeti and Kisi — block makers and depots serving market towns and travellers
- Atisbo, Irepo, Iwajowa, Itesiwaju, Kajola, Olorunsogo, Orelope and Ago-Are — local yards and suppliers across the northern towns
If your business is elsewhere in Oyo State, including Alapa, you are covered as well.
Block-Making Doesn’t Pause for Paperwork
A block yard runs on a rhythm of its own: sand and cement arrive and have to be counted, a batch is moulded and set to cure, trucks wait to be loaded, labourers are paid and a builder is on the phone wanting delivery today. Rain can change the day’s plan, and so can a swing in the price of cement. There is no easy hour for learning an online filing system in the middle of that. Registration is one task someone else can carry from start to finish. When it is finished, your yard or store trades under a registered name that appears on invoices, delivery notes and the paperwork a larger buyer will eventually ask you for.
Is This Right for Your Business?
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’re loading trucks, checking cured blocks and settling with labourers at the end of the day, and you’d rather not spend that time on CAC’s portal — you want the filing finished while the yard keeps working.
- You’re planning to move from selling to individual builders to supplying contractors, estate developers or institutional projects — or to adding pavers, quarry products or a second yard — and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You want honest advice, not an upsell — if a Business Name covers your stage, that’s what we’ll recommend.
- You want things kept simple — your details, one payment, your certificate.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a block industry or building materials business in Oyo State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Oyo State your business is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a block yard or materials store? For most owner-run yards and shops, yes. It gives you a legal name and registration to trade under. Standards, site and permit matters are separate.
Can I register block making and a building materials store under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example “production and sale of sandcrete blocks and building materials”.
My block yard is on open land. What address do I give? Give the yard’s address with the LGA, or the nearest recognisable landmark and area. That is enough for the application.
Does CAC registration replace SON compliance? No. CAC registration gives your business a registered name. Standards requirements for blocks and other materials are separate, so confirm them for your product line.
Does it replace the approvals under Oyo State’s building materials law? No. The state has told block makers to follow its law on building and civil engineering materials, and any requirements under it are handled with the relevant ministry.
Do sand and granite suppliers need other permits? If you extract the material yourself, quarry or mining permits are arranged separately. A supplier who only buys and resells may have different requirements, so check the position for your operation.
Can I register a paving stone or tile business? Yes. Interlocking pavers, kerbs, tiles and similar products are registered the same way as blocks.
Can I register as a cement dealer or depot? Yes. Describe the nature of business as “sale of cement and building materials” or similar.
Do sellers of roofing sheets, iron rods and nails qualify? Yes. Any building materials trade can be registered in the same way.
Can I register a business making culverts, septic rings or concrete pipes? Yes. Concrete product makers are registered the same way as block moulders.
What about my delivery trucks? The trucks have their own registration and plate requirements, handled through vehicle licensing. CAC registration covers the business, not the vehicles.
Will a CAC certificate help me supply contractors or developers? Contractors and developers who buy materials in volume often ask a supplier for proof of registration. The certificate helps with that request, but it does not guarantee any contract.
Do I need to join the National Association of Block Moulders of Nigeria? Membership is arranged with the association itself and is separate from CAC. Check with the association whether it applies to you.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step that we can help with when it falls due.
What if my first choice of name is taken? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many yards and stores start with a Business Name and convert as they grow or bring in partners. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start as a Limited Liability Company? If you are building a large block factory, sharing ownership with partners, taking on large contractor accounts, or a buyer insists on dealing with a company, the company route is worth considering from the start.
Do you register businesses outside Ibadan, such as in Ogbomosho, Saki or Iseyin? Yes. We register block industries and building materials businesses across all of Oyo State, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I register before my yard or store is set up? You can, as long as you have an address and LGA for the application. If you are still arranging the site, send the address you plan to use.
