Cameras, alarms, access control and fire-safety equipment all sell on one thing before price: trust. A client in Lagos is letting you into their shop, office, estate or warehouse to decide where the eyes of the building go, and one of the first questions they ask is who exactly they are dealing with. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We take care of the name search, the filing and the certificate, wherever your installs take you in Lagos State, so your time stays on site and not in a government portal. Send your business name on WhatsApp and consider it handled — that’s genuinely the extent of what’s asked of you.

Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
One payment of ₦35,500 covers the whole registration for a Lagos CCTV or safety business, with CAC’s own fee and ours already inside it. You won’t be asked for anything extra afterwards.
- A check that your chosen name is free on CAC’s register
- Reservation of that name in your favour
- The Business Name application, completed and submitted for you
- CAC’s government processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration, as a soft copy
- A Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Outside the Scope of This Registration
Registration gives your business a legal name. Several things around a surveillance and safety trade sit with other bodies, and they are not part of the ₦35,500:
- Any standards, permits or listings the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority sets for camera systems on buildings; confirm the current position with the authority
- Registration or approvals from the Lagos State Safety Commission, which regulates safety standards and registers safety practitioners in the state
- Fire-safety installation approvals from the state’s safety and fire authorities, if you supply or fit fire-protection equipment
- A licence from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) if you plan to offer manned guard services; installing cameras and supplying guards are different businesses
- Your duties under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 if you store, host or remotely access customers’ footage
- SON standards and import clearance for imported cameras, recorders and cables, plus NCC type approval for wireless or radio-based devices
- Premises, signage and workshop approvals for your shop or store
- A business bank account, which you open yourself once your certificate is in hand
- Printed copies of your certificate (you receive a soft copy and can print it anywhere)
- Annual returns in later years — a small, separate step we can also help with
Which Structure Fits a CCTV Business?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Solo installers, small crews and equipment resellers | Firms taking larger site contracts, with partners, or carrying heavy stock |
If you install and maintain systems yourself, or lead a small crew, a Business Name usually covers what you need: a legal name for quotations, invoices and a bank account. A company starts to make sense when you are carrying expensive stock, signing bigger maintenance or supply agreements, or sharing ownership, since the business is then separate from your personal assets. Plenty of installers start with a Business Name and move up later.
Before You Reach Out
Having these ready lets us move quickly:
- Two business names you’d like, in order of preference
- One valid ID — NIN slip or card, international passport, or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your Lagos business address, with the LGA — a shop, office or the address you operate from
- A phone number and an email address
- A plain description of what you do — for example “CCTV supply, installation and maintenance” or “alarm, access control and fire-safety equipment”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, ID and details of the directors and shareholders
From Message to Certificate
- We check your name against CAC’s public search portal.
- We reserve it as soon as it’s confirmed free.
- We complete the application with your business details and Lagos address.
- You send your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone picture works.
- You make one payment of ₦35,500, which covers everything listed above.
- Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, usually in 5–7 working days.
From your side, that’s the entire process: one message, one payment, one certificate.
Lagos Is Writing CCTV Into Its Building Rules
Surveillance is no longer only a private choice in Lagos. In January 2025, the state government announced that CCTV cameras would become a requirement, tied to the planning permit, for buildings of six floors and above: existing ones along major roads, and all proposed or under-construction ones anywhere in the state. Commercial buildings were expressly included. The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority was named as the body to set standards for the camera systems, their maintenance and inspection, and owners were to make footage available to security agencies when asked.
The public side is moving too. The state’s Safe City programme, which puts intelligent video surveillance at critical locations, was highlighted for expansion at the 2026 ministerial briefing of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. Earlier in 2026, the Lagos State Police Command also activated a 24-hour CCTV surveillance centre watching the Third Mainland Bridge, nearby waterways and Lagos Island.
For an installer, the practical effect is that building owners who must comply will want a contractor they can name on a quotation, an invoice and a handover document. A registered business name provides exactly that. It does not make you an approved installer under any state standard, and it does not replace anything the permit authority or the Safety Commission asks of you, so check their current requirements for the kind of work you do. Registering first simply gives you the legal name to build on.
Registration for Safety and CCTV Businesses Across Lagos
The price, requirements and turnaround stay the same wherever you work. Here is how our Lagos clients tend to cluster, with a few of the places each group covers.
Offices, banks and corporate premises
- Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lagos Island — tall office blocks, banks, embassies and waterfront estates where camera and access-control systems are specified early
- Ikeja, Alausa and Ogba — government offices, corporate headquarters and the commercial belt around the state capital
- Yaba and Ebute-Metta — tech offices, schools and mainland commercial property
Residential estates and apartment blocks
- Lekki, Ikota, Chevron and Ajah — gated estates and new apartment developments that call for perimeter, intercom and gate systems
- Magodo, Gbagada, Ojodu and Maryland — established residential districts with steady demand for home and compound systems
- Surulere, Festac Town and Isolo — older neighbourhoods, many upgrading from basic setups
Markets, malls and busy retail
- Computer Village, Ladipo and Trade Fair — shops and plazas where dealers also stock cameras and recorders
- Balogun, Idumota and Oshodi — dense trading areas with heavy footfall
- Alaba International Market and Ojo — large wholesale and electronics clusters in the west
Warehouses, ports and industrial estates
- Apapa, Ijora and Ilupeju — port-side yards, warehouses and factory compounds
- Amuwo-Odofin, Agbara road corridor and Ikeja industrial areas — manufacturing and distribution sites
- Ikorodu and Ogijo — industrial and logistics sites on the north-eastern edge
Growing outer areas
- Alimosho, Ipaja, Egbeda and Ikotun — fast-growing residential areas with a rising number of small shops and compounds
- Epe, Ibeju-Lekki and Badagry — new estates, resorts and commercial sites on the coast and the state’s edges
Wherever your next job takes you in Lagos State, the process doesn’t change.
Cables, Cameras and Clients: Registration Shouldn’t Slow Any of Them
Your work is hands-on and unforgiving: a cable run that has to be traced above a ceiling, a camera angle that has to cover a gate and a door at once, a recorder that must be configured before the client arrives. Then comes the question every serious customer eventually asks: “Is your business registered?” An estate manager comparing quotes, a shop owner who wants a receipt with a real name on it, an office that needs a vendor it can list — they all want something on paper. We would rather you spend your week on the install than on CAC’s portal. Once the name is registered, it sits on your quotes, invoices, warranty slips and bank paperwork.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather not work out CAC’s portal in the gaps between a ceiling-cable run, a site visit and a late-night call about a recorder that has gone offline — you want the registration finished while installs and maintenance keep going.
- You’re aiming past one-off home jobs — towards estates, offices, warehouses and maintenance arrangements, perhaps with a second crew or a small showroom, and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Business Name enough for a CCTV and security installation business? For most solo installers, small crews and resellers, yes. It gives you a registered name for quotes, invoices and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering if you are taking larger contracts, holding a lot of stock or bringing in partners.
How much does CAC registration cost for a CCTV business in Lagos State? ₦35,500, all-inclusive, for a Business Name, whether you operate from Ikeja, Lekki, Apapa or Ikorodu. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What comes with the ₦35,500? The name check and reservation, the completed CAC application, CAC’s government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Can I register if I only install and don’t sell equipment? Yes. Describe your business as installation, maintenance or consultancy. You don’t have to sell hardware to register.
Does CAC registration cover security guard services? No. Manned guarding is a separate business that needs its own licence from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps. Camera and alarm installation doesn’t fall under that licence, but you shouldn’t offer guards under your CAC registration alone.
Does the Lagos CCTV rule for tall buildings mean I need a special licence to install? As announced, the requirement falls on building owners as part of their planning permit, with the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority setting standards for camera systems. Whether installers need anything specific is a question for that authority, so confirm before quoting for a project that depends on the permit.
Do I have to worry about data protection if I store customers’ footage? It can apply. If you host, store or remotely access recordings for clients, the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 may place duties on you. That is separate from CAC registration, so check the current requirements for the services you offer.
Do imported cameras and recorders need any approvals? Imported equipment can be subject to SON standards and customs clearance, and wireless or radio-based devices may need NCC type approval. We don’t handle those, so confirm them with your supplier or clearing agent.
Can one registration cover CCTV, alarms, access control and fire-safety equipment? Yes. Describe the nature of your business broadly and one registration can cover all of it. Some equipment, such as fire-protection products, may carry separate approvals.
Will a CAC certificate help with estate, office and corporate jobs? Many clients ask for proof of registration before they hire a contractor or add a vendor, so the certificate is useful to have on hand. It doesn’t guarantee that you’ll win any job.
How long does it take, and how do I receive my documents? Usually 5–7 working days. Your certificate, TIN and Status Report come as soft copies over WhatsApp, and you can print them locally.
Do I need a shop or office to register? You need a business address in Lagos State and its LGA. If you work from home or from a store, give the address you actually use. If you’re still arranging premises, send the one you plan to use.
I work outside the island or the mainland core. Do you still cover me? Yes. We register businesses across Lagos State, including Alimosho, Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki and Badagry, at the same price and turnaround.
What if my preferred business name is taken? Send a backup and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. The CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It’s a small, separate step and we can help when it falls due.
Can I upgrade to a Limited Liability Company later, and when should I start with one? You can upgrade, and we can assist with the conversion. Starting as a company from day one makes sense if you have partners, an investor who requires it, or plan to take on larger contracts straight away. Otherwise, a Business Name is often enough to begin.
