From a bride in the make-up chair at dawn to a customer choosing a necklace for a naming ceremony, beauty and jewellery in Ogun State is a business of appearances, and appearances include having a proper registered name. Whether you sell creams and perfumes, run a salon or make-up studio, craft jewellery, or deal in gold and beads, Onelove Business Ventures can register your business name with CAC. We are an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for beauty and jewellery businesses across the state. All we need to begin is your business name on WhatsApp; the rest is handled on our side.
Why Ogun’s Beauty Sellers Should Care About Genuine Products
Cosmetics are the most counterfeited products in Nigeria. At a news conference marking Anti-Counterfeit Month in June 2026, NAFDAC said cosmetics, followed by food and beverages, accounted for more than half of the counterfeit goods it seizes. Ogun State has seen the clean-up first-hand. In July 2024 NAFDAC destroyed fake and expired products worth over ₦16 billion in Sagamu, a haul that included unsafe cosmetics along with falsified medicines and unwholesome food additives. In February 2026 the agency also seized banned and unregistered cosmetics worth over ₦3 billion in a warehouse at the Lagos trade fair complex, which is not far from the state’s western towns.
For an honest seller, a registered business name is the first step in showing customers and suppliers that you are not part of that trade. It is not the last. CAC registers your business, not your products. NAFDAC registration for products is a separate process, and neither one can stand in for the other. What a registered name does is give you something to put on invoices, supplier accounts and brand pages, and a legal identity to carry through the other approvals.

Your ₦35,500, Itemised

- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Preparation and submission of the CAC Business Name application
- CAC government filing/processing fee
- Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- CAC Status Report confirming your business is active on the public register
Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Works well for | Salons, make-up artists, jewellery makers and small beauty shops | Own-brand cosmetics makers, distributors, multi-outlet businesses, and businesses with investors |
If you work on your own or with a few staff, selling products, styling clients or making jewellery, a Business Name is usually enough, and it is the cheaper way to begin. A Limited Liability Company starts to make sense if you manufacture and distribute your own cosmetics line, hold large stock for other sellers, bring in partners or plan to raise money. Many beauty and jewellery businesses begin with a Business Name and move up later.
Details We Collect From You
- Two proposed business names, in order of preference (your brand, salon or shop name)
- A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Ogun State, with the LGA (a home studio or market stall address is fine)
- A phone number and an email address
- A short description of what you do, for example “cosmetics, skincare and beauty services” or “jewellery making and sales”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders
Start to Finish: Your Registration in Six Steps
- We check your name on CAC’s public search portal.
- We reserve it as soon as it’s confirmed available.
- We complete the application with your business details and Ogun address.
- You send your ID and passport photograph — a phone photo works.
- You pay the ₦35,500 filing fee, one payment covering everything itemised above.
- Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, usually within 5–7 working days.
That leaves you with two small jobs, sending your details and paying once; the filing itself is ours.
Approvals That Sit Outside CAC
- Printed copies of your certificate (it arrives as a soft copy, and you print it locally)
- NAFDAC registration for cosmetics you manufacture, import or sell under your own label, which is the agency’s own process
- Checking that the products you resell are genuine and registered with NAFDAC, and staying clear of products the agency has banned, such as certain skin-lightening soaps
- Licences from the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, if you buy, sell or process raw gold, gemstones or other minerals
- Trademark registration for your brand or label name, which is handled by the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry
- Customs clearance and duties if you import products, jewellery, beads or equipment yourself
- Local government shop, salon and signage levies
- Business bank account opening, done with your chosen bank after you have the certificate

Behind the Chair, Behind the Counter
The work in this trade is personal and often fixed to a clock. A bride needs her face done before the car arrives. A client is waiting under the dryer. A customer wants to see three necklaces in the right light before she decides. Between them you are restocking creams, answering bookings on your phone and checking that a product hasn’t passed its expiry date. Your customers trust your eye and your hands, and they never see the paperwork. We would like the registration of your business name to be one thing you don’t have to find an hour for.
A Good Match If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’re at the counter or behind the chair all day — a bride in the make-up seat at 6 a.m., a customer trying on a necklace, creams and perfumes to restock between sales — and a portal has no slot in that schedule.
- You’re moving from selling other brands’ products toward your own label, from one salon or shop to a studio plus an online store, or from retail to supplying other beauty sellers.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to register a cosmetics shop, salon or jewellery business with CAC? If you trade under a name other than your own, registering that name is the standard route. Suppliers, banks and bigger customers commonly ask for the certificate.
How much does CAC registration cost for a beauty or jewellery business in Ogun State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a salon, a make-up studio or a jewellery shop? For most owner-run businesses, yes. If you plan to manufacture and distribute your own products, or you have partners, a Limited Liability Company may suit you better, and we’ll say honestly which one fits.
Does CAC registration cover NAFDAC? No. NAFDAC registers products, and CAC registers your business. They are separate processes and neither replaces the other.
I want to make my own creams, soaps or hair oils. What do I need? CAC registration gives your business a legal name. Products you make and sell under your own label need NAFDAC’s separate registration and approvals before you sell them.
I only resell other brands. Is there anything I should check? Look for NAFDAC registration on the products you stock, and buy from suppliers you can trace. A registered business name doesn’t make a product genuine.
Is it safe to stock whatever sells well? No. NAFDAC has banned certain skin-lightening and medicated soaps and has seized large quantities of them. Check the agency’s current list before you stock anything doubtful.
I’m a freelance make-up artist. Do I need a business name? If you want to invoice, advertise and book clients under a brand name, yes. Registering it also gives you a certificate and a TIN to show clients, event planners and studios.
Can a salon, a shop and a make-up studio go under one registration? Yes. One registration covers the business as a whole, so you can describe all the services in the nature of business.
Do I need a licence to buy or sell gold and gemstones? Dealing in raw gold, gemstones and other minerals can require licences from the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. This is separate from CAC, so check what applies to the way you trade.
Can I register fashion jewellery and gold jewellery together? Yes. List both in the description of your business, along with any beads, watches and accessories you sell.
I sell on Instagram and WhatsApp. Can I register an online store? Yes. Describe the business as online retail of cosmetics, jewellery or both, and give the address you operate from.
I import products or beads. Does this registration cover that? No. Customs clearance, duties and NAFDAC requirements for imported cosmetics are handled separately. The certificate gives you the business name to import under.
What address do I use if I work from home or a market stall? Use the address where you operate and state the LGA. If you haven’t settled on a location, send the address you plan to use.
Is the TIN included? Yes. The Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500.
Will the certificate help me open a bank account or become a distributor? Banks usually ask for it when opening a business account, and brands or wholesalers often want proof of registration before appointing a distributor. It supports the request, but it doesn’t guarantee approval.
Does CAC registration protect my brand name? It stops another business from registering the same name with CAC, but trademark protection is a separate process handled by a different registry.
Can I run more than one shop or salon under one name? The registration covers the business as a whole. Local permits and levies are dealt with for each location separately.
What if my chosen name is already taken? Send us a backup name or two and we’ll check them promptly. Having alternatives ready saves time.
Can I switch to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many beauty and jewellery businesses start with a Business Name and convert once they manufacture, distribute or bring in partners. We can help with the conversion.
Is there anything to file with CAC after the first year? Yes, registered businesses must file annual returns. We can take care of that when the time comes.
Do you register businesses outside Sagamu, Ota and Abeokuta? Yes. We cover all of Ogun State, from Idiroko and Imeko Afon to Ijebu Ode and Ogun Waterside, at the same price and timeline.
