A jewellery counter in Jos, a bridal makeup chair in Bukuru, a shelf of body creams in a Pankshin shop: every one of them trades better under a registered name. Onelove Business Ventures, an accredited CAC agent, takes care of the name search, the filing and the certificate for jewellery, cosmetics and makeup businesses anywhere in Plateau State, so your attention stays on your customers and your stock. It really is this simple: send us your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll handle everything else.

Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
The ₦35,500 is one payment. CAC’s filing fee and our service fee are both inside it, and no second invoice follows. Should you want a company instead, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- Checking that your chosen business name is available
- Reserving the name once it clears
- Preparing and submitting your CAC Business Name application
- CAC’s government filing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration, as a soft copy
- A Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Outside the Scope of This Registration
Cosmetics and gemstones both sit under regulators of their own, so it helps to know what this registration does not replace:
- A printed certificate. You receive a soft copy on WhatsApp and can print it locally whenever you like.
- NAFDAC registration for cosmetics you make or import. NAFDAC’s guidelines say no cosmetic product may be manufactured, imported, advertised or sold in Nigeria without being registered, and a product registration does not automatically come with an advertising permit.
- Trademark registration for your brand. A registered business name and a registered trademark are different things, and cosmetics brands often need the second one when they apply for NAFDAC product registration.
- Import permits and customs clearance if you bring in cosmetics, beads, jewellery or packaging from abroad.
- Mineral licences from the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development if your trade involves buying, holding or exporting raw gemstones (more on this further down).
- Shop, signage and market-stall approvals or levies from Plateau State and local government authorities, plus any hygiene or premises rules that apply to a beauty or makeup studio.
- Tax filings and levies that apply to retailers, manufacturers and service providers at state and federal level.
- A business bank account, which you open with your chosen bank after the certificate arrives.
- Annual returns in later years, a small separate task we’re happy to help with when it falls due.
Which Structure Fits: Business Name or Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (all-inclusive) | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Kept separate from your own assets? | No | Yes |
| What you receive | Certificate, Status Report and TIN | Certificate, Status Report, Memart and TIN |
| Usually suits | Solo jewellers, makeup artists and owner-run beauty shops | Growing brands, shops with partners or investors, and gemstone dealers seeking mineral licences |
A Business Name works well while you run the business yourself and need a legal name for receipts, a bank account and your online storefront. A company starts to make sense once partners, investors, wholesale contracts or mineral licences come into the picture, because it stands apart from your personal assets. Plenty of owners start with a Business Name and convert later.

Six steps, and only two of them involve you — everything else runs on our end.
Gemstones, Cosmetics and the Rules Around Them in Plateau
Plateau is one of the best-known gemstone states in Nigeria. The Jos Plateau was a tin-mining district for much of the twentieth century, and collectors know the old tin fields around Bukuru and Rop for clear topaz, while tourmaline, aquamarine and sapphire also come out of the state’s mining belts. That history means many Plateau jewellers work close to the rough-stone trade, and the legal position changes depending on which side of it you stand.
Selling finished jewellery, beads or beauty products is retail. Buying, keeping, processing or exporting raw minerals is a different matter, governed by the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007. Licences such as the Possess and Purchase licence and the Mineral Buying Centre licence come through the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, mineral titles are administered by its Mining Cadastre Office, and shipping minerals abroad needs a separate export permit. Legal guides to these licences describe the applicant as a company incorporated under CAMA, so a plain Business Name is unlikely to be enough for rough-stone dealing. If that is your plan, tell us before we file and we’ll point you to the Limited Liability Company route. Either way, CAC registration is the first step: it gives you the registered identity every later application is made under, and the licences themselves stay with the ministry.
Registering Across Plateau State
Price, requirements and turnaround are the same in every part of the state. Here is where our jewellery, cosmetics and makeup clients are based.
Jos and the surrounding corridor
- Jos North and Jos South — shops, market stalls and studios in the state capital and the commercial belt that runs towards Bukuru
- Bukuru and Vom — beauty shops, jewellery counters and home studios in the Jos South towns
- Jos East — retailers and small-batch makers serving the eastern side of the Jos area
The western belt
- Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Bassa — cosmetics shops, bead sellers and salons supplying town and village customers
- Mangu and Panyam — market-town traders and makeup artists working weddings and local events
- Bokkos — accessory sellers and beauty-supply stores
The central highlands
- Pankshin — jewellery sellers and beauty shops in a busy local trading centre
- Kanke, Kwolla and Amper — home-based makeup artists, hair-and-beauty suppliers and small-brand makers
The south and south-east
- Mikang — retailers and bead artisans
- Shendam and Yelwa — cosmetics traders and bridal makeup studios
- Langtang North and Langtang South — beauty-supply shops and jewellery stalls
The east and north-east
- Kanam and Dengi — cosmetics resellers and accessory vendors
- Wase — market traders and online sellers serving the eastern edge of the state
Whether your counter, studio or stall sits in one of these places or somewhere not named, the same price and process apply.
A Good Counter Display Takes Time; Registration Shouldn’t Compete With It
Anyone who sells jewellery or beauty products knows how much happens before a customer even asks the price: beads sorted by colour, the glass counter wiped clean, foundation shades lined up under good light, a bride’s trial booked for early morning. Then come the restock runs, the social-media orders waiting to be packed and a market day that never quite slows down. Registering the business is the one job on that list that doesn’t need your hands. Once it’s done, your brand has an official name to put on receipts, delivery slips, supplier invoices and your bank account, and you can return to the work your customers actually see.
Is This Right for Your Business?
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’re restocking lipsticks, sorting beads or finishing a bridal trial, and the CAC portal is the last thing you want to open between customers and market-day rushes.
- You’re aiming to move from a market stall or home studio to a proper shop in Jos or Bukuru, or to supply salons and other retailers with your products.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to register a jewellery or cosmetics business in Plateau State? A Business Name is ₦35,500, all-inclusive, and the price is the same whichever LGA you trade in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, CAC’s filing fee, your Certificate of Registration as a soft copy, a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a shop, a stall or a makeup studio? For most owner-run businesses, yes. It gives you the legal name and registration you need to start. A company becomes worth considering when partners, investors or larger supply deals arrive.
Does CAC registration let me sell cosmetics I make or import? No. CAC registration gives your business its name and legal identity. The cosmetics themselves are regulated by NAFDAC, and its guidelines say no cosmetic product may be sold in Nigeria unless it has been registered with the agency. That product registration is separate from CAC and from our service.
I only resell cosmetics made by other brands. Does NAFDAC still matter to me? It does, in a practical way. The rule on selling covers any cosmetic product in Nigeria, so the products on your shelf should carry a NAFDAC registration number. Checking your suppliers’ numbers is a sensible habit, and it has nothing to do with how you register the business.
Is a registered business name the same as a trademark? No. A trademark protects your brand through the Trademarks Registry, as a separate application. Published summaries of NAFDAC’s requirements for made-in-Nigeria cosmetics list trademark registration (Class 3 for cosmetics) among the documents, so brands that make their own products often deal with it early.
Do I need a licence to sell gemstones or gemstone jewellery in Jos? Raw minerals fall under the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007, and buying or keeping them generally calls for a licence from the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, with a separate permit for export. Whether anything applies to your stock depends on what exactly you handle, so confirm with the ministry. Those licences are not part of this registration.
I’m a freelance makeup artist who works at clients’ venues. Can I register? Yes. You’ll need a business address in Plateau State with its LGA, and a home address is fine if you don’t rent a studio. Describe the business as makeup services or beauty services.
Can I register if I only sell through Instagram or WhatsApp? Yes. Online sellers register the same way as shops. The one thing CAC needs is an address in Plateau State, which can be where you pack and store your orders.
Can I put jewellery and cosmetics under one business name? Yes. Describe the nature of the business broadly, such as “jewellery, cosmetics and beauty products”. Cosmetics you manufacture will still need their own NAFDAC approval.
Do you register businesses outside Jos and Bukuru? Yes. We register across Plateau State, from Barkin Ladi and Mangu to Shendam, Wase and the Langtang areas, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. The CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks request when opening a business account, alongside your ID and other details.
Will a CAC certificate help me supply salons, boutiques or bigger retailers? Buyers often ask for proof of registration before ordering in bulk or on a recurring basis, so the certificate is a useful thing to hold. It does not guarantee any order.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It’s a short, separate task, and we can handle it for you when the date arrives.
What happens if my first-choice name is taken? Send a second or third option and we’ll check it straight away. Having backups ready keeps things moving.
Can I move from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many beauty and jewellery businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow, and we can help with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start as a Limited Liability Company? If you’re launching with partners, an investor expects a company structure, or you plan to deal in raw gemstones and will need to apply for mineral licences, the company route is worth considering from day one.
