Where Ogun’s Electronics Industry Actually Is
Ogun State is not only a place that buys electronics; some of it is assembled here. The Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone at Igbesa, in Ado-Odo/Ota, was established in 2008 and covers nearly 10,000 hectares. The zone’s own website names TV and electronics assembly among its manufacturing sectors, next to ceramics, furniture, car batteries and tyres. A 2025 Tribune report on a federal official’s visit put the number of enterprises operating there at 173 and said the zone generates more than 300 megawatts of electricity for its companies.
None of this puts a shop in Abeokuta or Sagamu inside the zone, and registering with CAC does not connect you to it. The practical point is a smaller one. The bigger the buyers and suppliers you deal with, such as distributors, estate developers and procurement desks, the more likely they are to ask for a registered business name before they sign anything. Further along the LagosβAbeokuta Expressway, Ota was designated an industrial town with state encouragement for industries to locate there, and its combined Sango-Ota market area keeps a steady stream of buyers moving through. A registered name is the first document those buyers and sellers tend to ask to see.

What Your β¦35,500 Covers: Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
You pay once, and the CAC filing fee and our service fee are both inside that amount, so no extra charge turns up after you’ve paid. A Limited Liability Company is available at β¦65,500, also all-inclusive, if you’d rather start that way.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Preparation and submission of your CAC Business Name application
- CAC government filing/processing fee
- Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Business Name or Limited Liability Company: Which Fits?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | β¦35,500 | β¦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Suits | Shops, repair benches and owner-run electrical stores | Distributors, contractors with partners, and firms taking on investors or large supply deals |
If you run the business yourself and mainly need a legal name for receipts, supplier accounts and a bank account, a Business Name usually does the job. The Limited Liability Company starts to make sense when you take on partners, bid for larger supply or installation jobs, or want the business kept apart from your personal assets. Many electronics traders start with a Business Name and move up later.

Before You Reach Out
- Two proposed business names, in order of preference
- A valid ID β National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Ogun State, including the LGA (a shop or market stall address is fine)
- A phone number and an email address
- A simple description of the business, for example “electrical and electronics sales and repairs” or “electrical installation and supply of appliances”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, ID and details of the directors and shareholders
From Message to Certificate
- We check name availability on CAC’s public search portal.
- We reserve the name as soon as it’s confirmed available.
- We complete the application using your business details and Ogun address.
- You send your ID and passport photograph β a clear phone picture works.
- You pay the β¦35,500 filing fee β one payment covering everything listed above.
- Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, normally within 5β7 working days.
Beyond that first message and a single payment, there’s nothing left for you to chase up.
The Counter, the Bench and the Generator Hum
Anyone in this trade knows the daily noise: a customer asking you to plug in a set to prove it works, a decoder that came back for the second time, a generator running behind the shop, and stock that has to be fetched from Lagos before the weekend. Work on the bench rarely stops for forms. A registered name does quiet work for you. It sits on your receipts and warranty slips, on supplier and distributor accounts, and in your bank paperwork. We would rather you spend your time on the sets and circuits you understand while we deal with the filing that nobody enjoys.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so β here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You spend your day at the counter, testing a television for a buyer, cutting cable to length, or bent over a repair bench with a soldering iron β there is no gap in the day for working through CAC’s portal.
- You’re aiming past walk-in sales β supplying contractors and estate developers with fittings, becoming a distributor for a brand, or opening a second outlet in Sagamu or Ota β and want a registered name to grow under.
- You prefer being told what you actually need β if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want a process without back-and-forth β send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to register my electronics shop or repair business with CAC? If you trade under a name rather than just your own, registering that name is the standard route, and suppliers, banks and bigger customers commonly expect to see it.
How much does CAC registration cost for an electrical or electronics business in Ogun State? β¦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, whichever Ogun town you trade in. A Limited Liability Company costs β¦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What comes with the β¦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Can an electrical contractor or installer register, or is this only for shops? Both. Describe the work plainly, such as “electrical installation and supply of appliances”, and it’s registered the same way as a retail business.
I sell new and used goods, and I also repair them. Can that all go under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example sales, servicing and supply of electrical and electronic goods, so the registration covers what you do.
Is a Business Name enough for a shop in Abeokuta, Sagamu or Ota? For most owner-run shops and workshops, yes. It gives you the registered name you need to start trading properly.
Does CAC registration replace SON approval for the products I sell? No. The Standards Organisation of Nigeria handles product certification for electrical goods, and that is separate from registering your business name.
Do I need NCC approval to sell phones or routers? Telecom and radio devices can require type approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission. It’s a separate process from CAC, so check the current requirements for the devices you stock.
What about old or faulty equipment I collect from customers? Rules on electrical and electronic waste fall under NESREA, not CAC. If you take in or dispose of old equipment, confirm what applies to you.
I import some of my stock. Does this registration handle that? No. Customs clearance and duties are handled separately. The registration gives you the legal business name to import under.
Can I register a repair workshop and a retail shop as one business? Yes. One registration covers the business as a whole, and you can describe both activities in the nature of business.
Is a TIN part of the package? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the β¦35,500.
Will the certificate help with banks and supplier accounts? Banks usually ask for it when opening a business account, and distributors or bulk buyers often want proof of registration before extending terms. It helps, but it doesn’t guarantee credit or a supply deal.
My shop is a stall inside a market. What address do I use? Use the stall’s address, including the market name and the LGA. If you are still arranging a location, send the address you plan to use.
What if my first-choice name is already taken? Send a second or third option and we’ll check it straight away. Having backups ready keeps the registration moving.
Can I move from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later, and when should I start with a company? Yes, many traders upgrade once they take on partners or larger jobs, and we can help with the conversion. If you already have partners, expect investors or plan to chase large supply contracts, starting with the company route can be worth considering.
Is there anything to file with CAC after the first year? Yes, registered businesses must file annual returns. We can handle that for you when it falls due.
Do you register businesses outside Abeokuta, Sagamu and Ota? Yes. We cover all of Ogun State, from Ilaro, Idiroko and Imeko Afon to Ijebu Ode and Ogun Waterside, at the same price and timeline.
