A phone screen cracks in Ilesa, a fridge stops cooling in Iwo, a shop in Osogbo needs fresh cabling before it can open: someone has to supply the part, do the repair or run the wire, and that someone is usually a small electrical or electronics business. If you sell, repair or install electrical and electronic goods anywhere in Osun State, registering the business under a proper name is a practical first step. Onelove Business Ventures is a CAC-accredited agent. We check the name, file the application and collect your certificate, wherever in Osun State your shop or workshop is. A Business Name registration is ₦35,500, all-inclusive. Pass us your business name over WhatsApp and the filing, the checks and the follow-up are handled on our side.

What Your ₦35,500 Covers
The ₦35,500 is one payment for your Osun State electrical or electronics business, with CAC’s filing fee and our service fee both inside it. Nothing is added afterwards. If you want to start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- A search to confirm your business name is free to use
- Reservation of the name once it clears
- Completion and submission of your CAC Business Name application
- CAC’s government filing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration as a soft copy
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business is active on the public register
What Falls Outside This Registration
- SON certification — locally made electrical products fall under the Standards Organisation of Nigeria’s MANCAP scheme, and imports under SONCAP. Which applies to what you sell is handled separately.
- NESREA and e-waste obligations — the environmental agency is working on take-back and end-of-life rules for electrical and electronic equipment, which affect importers and sellers.
- Import and customs requirements — duties, permits and clearance for goods you bring in from abroad, including fairly used items.
- NCC type approval — telecom devices such as phones may need approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission before sale.
- Electricity licensing — generating or selling power commercially is regulated at the state and federal level and is not covered by a business name.
- Technical certifications for installation work — qualifications and approvals that may apply to wiring and electrical installation.
- Building and fire-safety approvals — requirements for shops and workshops that hold stock and equipment.
- Local government permits — shop, signage and market levies in your area.
- Tax obligations — ongoing filings and obligations beyond the TIN you receive.
- Trademark registration — optional, and worth considering for a shop or brand name.
- Business bank account — opened with your chosen bank once your certificate is ready.
- Printed copies of your certificate — we send a soft copy, and you print it locally when you need one.
- Annual returns — a small separate step in later years that we can also help with.
Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Phone and electronics shops, repair workshops, electrical materials stores | Importers, wholesalers, contractors bidding for projects, and businesses with partners |
A Business Name usually suits a one-owner shop, repair bench or electrical materials store, where the main need is a legal name for invoices, supplier accounts and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering once you are importing in volume, wholesaling, bidding for contracts with schools, offices or developers, sharing ownership or bringing in investors, because the business then stands apart from your personal assets and some larger buyers prefer to deal with a company. Ask the clients you are aiming for what they expect before deciding. Many owners begin with a Business Name and upgrade later.
Documents to Have Ready
- Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
- A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Osun State — including the LGA
- Phone number and email address
- Nature of business — described plainly, e.g. “electronics and phone sales and repairs” or “electrical materials supply and installation”
- If you choose a Limited Liability Company instead: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders
The Registration Timeline
- Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal — we do this for you.
- Reserve the name once it is confirmed available.
- Complete the application with your business details and Osun State address.
- Upload your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone photo works.
- Pay the ₦35,500, a single payment that covers everything listed above.
- Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, normally within 5–7 working days.
Once you’ve sent the details and made one payment, all that’s left is the wait for your certificate.
Osun’s New Electricity Law and the Standards Behind the Goods You Sell
Two things shape this trade in Osun, and neither is handled by CAC. The first is power. In mid-2025, the Osun State House of Assembly passed an electricity bill that provides for a State Electricity Regulatory Agency to oversee the state’s electricity market and deal with service complaints against the distribution company. It also provides for licensing of power generators and opens the door to off-grid and independent generation. Reports said the state was among the first to use a 2023 constitutional change allowing states to regulate electricity. At the time of those reports, the governor had said he would sign the bill soon, and I could not confirm the signing date, so check the current status. For anyone selling generators, inverters, cables or fittings, the practical effect is that power supply and regulation in Osun are changing, though none of it changes your registration.
The second is the quality of the goods themselves. SON and NESREA announced in June 2021 that they would work together on electronic waste, including a take-back system under extended producer responsibility. NESREA also asked for lists of electrical and electronic equipment certified under MANCAP for local products and SONCAP for imports, which it said would give it an inventory of importers. Buyers who have been burned by substandard cables or short-lived appliances increasingly want to know where a seller got his stock. A registered business name gives you something to put on invoices and warranties, though it says nothing about product certification on its own.

Surges, Spare Parts and a Portal That Can Wait
A repair bench never empties. There are phones to open, boards to test, spare parts to chase, and a queue of customers asking when theirs will be ready. On the supply side, stock moves with the exchange rate, cables get measured out by the metre, and a single generator sale can take half an afternoon of explaining. Between the shop floor and the supplier calls, nobody has an hour to spare for an online registration portal. The business name is one job on that list that we can take off you, so that your receipts, warranty cards and bank account all carry the same registered name.
A Good Match If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’re bent over a repair bench or counting cable drums while customers wait, and a CAC portal login feels like one more thing that can’t be done in a spare ten minutes.
- You’re moving from a single counter to supplying contractors, estates, schools and offices, or starting to import or wholesale — perhaps with a second outlet in Osogbo, Ile-Ife or Iwo — and want a registered name that can carry that growth.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for an electrical or electronics business in Osun State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Osun you are. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for an electronics shop or electrical store? For most owner-run shops, workshops and stores, a Business Name gives you the legal name and registration you need to start. Product certification and other approvals are separate matters.
I repair phones and gadgets. Can I register? Yes. Describe the nature of business plainly, such as “phone and gadget repairs and accessories sales”.
Does CAC registration give me SON or import approvals? No. SON certification, customs clearance and any import permits are separate. CAC registration gives you the registered business that handles them.
Do the products I sell need SON certification? SON runs MANCAP for locally made products and SONCAP for imports, and NESREA has asked for lists of certified equipment. Confirm with SON what applies to the products you sell.
Do I need NCC approval to sell phones? Telecom devices may need type approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission. This is separate from CAC, so check the current requirement for the devices you sell.
Can I register electrical installation work and a shop under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as “electrical materials supply and installation”. Installation work may carry its own technical requirements.
Will contractors, estates or offices ask for a CAC certificate? Larger buyers often ask suppliers for proof of registration, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any contract.
Does Osun’s electricity law affect my shop? The law as reported concerns power generation, distribution and regulation in the state. It does not change how a shop or workshop is registered. If you plan to generate or sell power commercially, check the licensing rules.
I sell fairly used electronics. Can I register? Yes. Describe the business as it is. Fairly used imports have their own customs and standards rules that apply separately.
I import goods from abroad. Should I start with a Business Name or a company? A Business Name is enough to register and start trading. If you import in volume, sell to larger buyers or have partners, a Limited Liability Company may suit you better. We’ll tell you plainly which one fits your stage.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Does my business address have to be a shop? No. The application needs a business address in Osun State with the LGA. Anything about premises or approvals is separate.
I’m still looking for a shop. Can I register now? You need an address in Osun State and its LGA for the application. If you are still sorting out premises, send the address you plan to use.
Do you register businesses outside Osogbo? Yes. We handle electrical and electronics businesses across Osun State, from Iwo and Ede to Ilesa and Ife, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when the time comes.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many electrical and electronics businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow or when partners join. We can help with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are importing in volume, sharing ownership with partners, or targeting contracts with buyers who prefer dealing with a company, the Limited Liability Company route is worth considering from day one.
What if I run more than one shop or workshop? One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe it broadly. Permits generally attach to each site, so check the approvals for every location you run.
How will I receive my certificate? As a soft copy on WhatsApp. You print the hard copy locally whenever you need one.
