Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
The ₦35,500 is a single payment for your Oyo State event business. CAC’s filing fee and our service fee both sit inside it, so there is nothing to add once you have paid. If you would rather begin as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- Checking that your chosen business name is available
- Reserving the name once it clears
- Preparing and submitting your CAC Business Name application
- CAC’s government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration, as a soft copy
- A Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Outside the Scope of This Registration
Event businesses answer to several authorities beyond CAC. These are handled separately from this registration:
- Printed copies of your certificate, which we deliver as a soft copy for you to print locally
- State physical-planning, building and land-use approvals if you operate or plan to open an event hall, especially in a residential area
- Crowd-safety, fire-safety and emergency-readiness arrangements for your venue or event, and any permit needed for events involving children
- Police notification and security arrangements for large public gatherings, where required
- Music licences for playing recorded music in public, usually obtained through a collecting society recognised by the Nigerian Copyright Commission
- Liquor licences and food-handling or health approvals if your events include a bar or catering service
- State signage and advertisement permits for banners, billboards and street promotion
- Local government levies and any state or federal tax obligations that apply to your operations
- Event liability or equipment insurance, if you choose to carry it
- Opening a business bank account, done with your bank once your certificate is in hand
- Annual returns in future years, a small separate step we can help with when it is due
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost, all-inclusive | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Separates you from the business | No | Yes, the company is a separate legal entity |
| What you receive | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Typically suits | Solo planners, small crews and owner-run rental or decor outfits | Event centres, firms with partners or investors, and larger corporate organisers |
For a planner or small team handling weddings, parties and mid-sized functions, a Business Name usually covers what you need: a legal name for invoices, vendor agreements, a bank account and your social media pages. A company structure starts to make more sense once you own a hall or heavy equipment, share ownership with partners, bring in investors, or begin taking on larger institutional work. Many event businesses start with a Business Name and upgrade later.

Beyond that first message and a single payment, there’s nothing left for you to chase up.
Event Safety in Oyo State: What Organisers Should Know
Public events in Oyo State have been under a brighter spotlight since 18 December 2024, when a stampede at a children’s funfair in the Basorun area of Ibadan left many people dead, most of them children. The state government said afterwards that it had not been involved in planning the event. The Oyo State House of Assembly then called on the state executive to regulate large public gatherings. It asked for guidelines for event organisers on safety measures, crowd management and emergency preparedness, to be developed with the Ministry of Health, and it stressed that organisers of events involving minors should obtain permits from the relevant authorities before going ahead.
For anyone who plans, hosts or supplies events, the practical point is this: organisers are increasingly expected to show who is responsible. A registered business name gives you that identity, with a certificate and a status report you can hand to venues, clients and officials. It is not a permit to hold an event, and it does not stand in for any safety clearance. Rules on gatherings can change, so confirm the current requirements for your type of event with the relevant Oyo State authorities before you take bookings.

Weekends, Ceremonies and Paperwork
Your best trading days are probably everyone else’s days off. You are up before the guests, checking that the canopy has arrived, that the generator is fuelled and that the caterers and the MC are on schedule, then you are the last one out of the hall once the aso-oke has been folded away and the chairs are stacked. There is rarely room in that week for CAC’s portal. Registering the business is a task we can take on completely, so that when a corporate client, hall owner or bank asks for proof of registration, your certificate is already in your WhatsApp.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You spend Saturdays confirming canopies, generators and the MC’s arrival time and have no hours left to work through CAC’s portal on your own.
- You are moving beyond owambes and engagement ceremonies towards corporate conferences, product launches and hotel-hall functions in Ibadan, or towards opening an event hall of your own, and you want a registered name to build that on.
- You want honest advice, not an upsell — if a Business Name covers your stage, that’s what we’ll recommend.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for an event planning business in Oyo State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, whichever part of Oyo State you are in. A Limited Liability Company costs ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What does the ₦35,500 cover? The name search and reservation, the preparation and filing of your application, CAC’s government fee, a soft-copy Certificate of Registration, a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
How long does it take? Usually 5–7 working days once your details and payment are in.
Is a Business Name enough for an event planner? For most solo planners and small crews, yes. It gives you a registered name to trade under. Larger operations, such as event centres with partners or investors, may prefer a Limited Liability Company.
Does CAC registration give me permission to hold events or open a hall? No. It registers your business name. Approvals for venues, crowd safety, security, music, alcohol and signage are separate and depend on what you do.
I own or plan to open an event centre. Can I still register? Yes. Register the business first, then deal with planning, building and safety approvals for the premises. Operating in a residential area may call for extra approvals, so check before you commit to a site.
Can I register decor, rentals, ushering and catering under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of your business broadly, such as “event planning, rentals and management”. Activities like running a bar or preparing food for sale may need their own approvals.
I don’t have a hall or office yet. What address do I use? You need a business address in Oyo State, with the LGA, to file. Use the address you operate from or plan to use, and send it with your names.
Do you register businesses outside Ibadan? Yes. We register event businesses across Oyo State, from Ogbomoso and Oyo town to Saki, Iseyin and Ibarapa, at the same price and turnaround.
Will a certificate help me win corporate or institutional clients? Companies, churches, schools and associations often ask for proof of registration before they book an organiser. A certificate is a useful document to have, though it does not guarantee any booking.
Can I open a business bank account with it? Yes. The certificate is one of the main documents banks request, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
What if my first-choice name is taken? Send a second name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
How do I receive the certificate? As a soft copy sent to you on WhatsApp. You can print it locally whenever you need a hard copy.
When should I start with a Limited Liability Company instead? If you are setting up a hall with partners, an investor expects a company structure, or you are aiming at large institutional contracts, a company may be worth considering from day one.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many event businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow. We can assist with the conversion.
Do I have to file anything with CAC after registration? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step, and we can handle it for you when it falls due.
What should I do before my first big event? Register the business, then confirm the venue, safety, security and music requirements that apply to that event. CAC registration is the first step, and the rest is arranged separately.
