Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For

Your ₦35,500 is one payment for everything listed below, with CAC’s filing fee and our service fee both inside it. Nothing gets added once you’ve paid. If you would rather register as a company from the start, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

Outside the Scope of This Registration

Registration gives your event business a legal name. Some things sit outside it, and it helps to know them before you take bookings:

Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company

Business NameLimited Liability Company
All-inclusive cost₦35,500₦65,500
Personal liability protectionNoYes
Documents receivedCertificate + Status Report + TINCertificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN
Best forIndependent planners, decorators, rental suppliers and small teamsEvent centres, firms with partners, and operators serving organisations or institutions

A Business Name suits most people starting out in events: you get a legal name for your quotations, invoices, social pages and bank account without taking on more than you need. A Limited Liability Company becomes worth considering when you own a venue, share the business with partners, or want the company to stand apart from your personal assets as the contracts get bigger. Plenty of event businesses begin with a Business Name and upgrade later.

Before You Reach Out

  1. Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
  2. A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
  3. A passport photograph
  4. Your business address in Yobe State — indicating the LGA
  5. Phone number and email address
  6. Nature of business — described simply, e.g. “event planning and management” or “event decoration and equipment rental”
  7. If you choose Limited Liability Company instead: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders

From Message to Certificate

  1. Check that your name is available on CAC’s public search portal — we do this for you.
  2. Reserve the name as soon as it is confirmed available.
  3. Complete the application with your business, owner and Yobe State address details.
  4. Upload your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone photo works.
  5. Make one payment of ₦35,500, which covers everything listed above.
  6. Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.

Beyond that first message and a single payment, there’s nothing left for you to chase up.

Why Yobe’s Festival Calendar Rewards a Registered Name

Yobe has a calendar of cultural gatherings that bring crowds, traditional rulers and visitors into the state. The best known is the Daniski–Gudi Hills Festival in the Fika area, an annual cultural event. Press reports of the January 2026 edition describe a large turnout, traditional dances, a durbar and emirs from many parts of the region attending. At the event, the state government indicated it would look into providing facilities at the festival venue for future editions. Yobe’s published list of tourist attractions also names other festivals, including the Bade Fishing and Cultural Festival, the Kamti Festival and the Barakau Festival. Damaturu has hosted business gatherings too, such as the 38th Annual General Meeting of the Coalition of Northern States Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture in December 2019.

These cultural festivals are run by traditional institutions and government, not by private vendors, so registration does not put you on any organiser’s list. What it does is give your business a legal identity before you approach sponsors, institutions or bigger clients, who commonly ask for proof of registration before they work with a supplier. Whether you are doing decor, sound, tents or ushering around the busy periods, or running workshops for organisations in Damaturu, a registered name is the first document they will expect. It does not guarantee any contract.

When the Work Is All Logistics, the Paperwork Can’t Be

Events are won and lost on small things: whether the canopies arrive before the guests, whether the generator is fuelled, whether the MC has the run sheet and the decorator has the right colours. You already hold all of that in your head, along with deposits, supplier calls and the family who changes the guest list the night before. Registration is the one item on that pile that can be taken off you completely. Once it is done, your quotations, receipts, social pages and bank account can all carry the same recognised business name, and you can start the next booking knowing the paperwork is behind you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for an event planning business in Yobe State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same in every LGA. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.

What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.

How long does it take? Usually 5 to 7 working days from submission.

Is a Business Name enough for an event planner or decorator? For most independent planners, decorators, rental suppliers and small teams, yes. It gives you the registered name you need to start trading properly.

Does CAC registration give me permission to hold public events? No. It gives your business a legal name. Any clearance for large gatherings and any state or local approvals are separate, so check the requirements for the kind of event you run.

Can I offer planning, decoration and equipment rental under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of your business broadly, such as event planning, decoration and equipment hire, and one registration covers the business as a whole.

I only do a few weddings and ceremonies a year. Is it worth registering? Many small event businesses register early because a registered name makes it easier to open a bank account, issue proper receipts and be taken seriously by larger clients. It is your decision, and the Business Name is the low-cost way to start.

I own an event hall. Should I choose a Business Name or a Limited Liability Company? A Business Name is enough for a modest hall run by one owner. If you share ownership, are building a larger venue or want the business separate from your personal assets, the company route is worth looking at.

Will organisations ask for my registration certificate? Companies, NGOs and institutions often want proof of registration before they hire a supplier, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any booking or contract.

Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.

Is the TIN included? Yes, a Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.

Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step, and we can help with it when the time comes.

What if the name I want isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.

Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many event businesses start with a Business Name and convert when they take on partners, buy a venue or begin working for larger clients. We can help with the conversion.

Do you register businesses outside Damaturu and Potiskum? Yes. We register event businesses in all 17 LGAs of Yobe State, from Geidam and Yusufari to Gujba and Nangere, at the same price and turnaround.

Can I register in Yobe State if I run events in other states too? The application needs a business address in Yobe State with the LGA. Where you take bookings is up to you, but each place may have its own event requirements, so check them before you go.

I don’t have an office or premises yet. Can I still register? You need a business address in Yobe State and its LGA for the application. If you are still sorting this out, send the address you plan to use.

How do I receive the certificate? As a soft copy on WhatsApp. You print it locally whenever you need a hard copy.
