Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We take care of the whole filing for farms, fisheries, forestry operations and farm-produce businesses anywhere in Plateau State: the name search, the application and the certificate. One WhatsApp message with your business name is all it takes — we manage the rest.

- Small agro-processors — operators making potato chips, flour and dried produce from their own or bought-in harvests.
Plateau’s Potato Belt, and the Case for a Registered Farm Business
Plateau is widely regarded as Nigeria’s leading Irish potato state, and in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu the crop dominates the farmland. A May 2026 commentary by Dr Domnan Miri, published in TheCable, described how production across the state’s local government areas follows local strengths: potatoes in those three, livestock in Wase, and a strong base in vegetables and poultry around Jos North and Jos South. His argument was that production is not the main problem. The harder part comes after harvest, when crops leave the farm as raw commodities, are sold cheaply, are wasted in transit or perish for lack of structured markets. He proposed linking those strengths into agro-processing zones that turn raw tubers into products such as potato flour, chips and starch.

Whether or not that vision arrives in full, the direction is clear: the money in farming increasingly lies in storing, aggregating, processing and selling in bulk, and buyers at that level tend to want a supplier with a registered name, an invoice and a bank account. A CAC registration is the first of those pieces. It does not give you land rights or any farming or processing approval, and the list further down sets out what falls outside it.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company for a Farm
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Individual farmers, fish farmers, produce traders and input dealers | Larger farms, processors with several owners, and ventures with outside investors |
If you farm on your own account or run a small produce or input business, a Business Name gives you a legal name for invoices, buyer dealings and a bank account at the lowest cost. A Limited Liability Company becomes worth considering once ownership is shared, you are putting up processing equipment, or an investor or large buyer expects a company structure. Starting with a Business Name does not rule out converting later.
Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
Your ₦35,500 is a single all-inclusive payment. CAC’s filing fee and our service fee are both inside that figure, so nothing is added afterwards. A Limited Liability Company is also available at ₦65,500, all-inclusive.
- A search confirming your business name is available
- Reservation of the name once it clears
- Completion and submission of the CAC Business Name application
- The CAC government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration, as a soft copy
- A Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Outside the Scope of This Registration
A CAC certificate gives your farm business a legal name. It is not a land document or an approval to produce or process anything, and these matters are handled separately.
- Printed copies of your certificate. You receive a soft copy on WhatsApp and can print it at any business centre.
- Rights to the land you farm, such as a Certificate of Occupancy or a recognised lease or family-land arrangement. Those come from the land authorities and the landowner, not from CAC.
- Seed-sale registration, if you multiply or sell seed. Check with the National Agricultural Seeds Council.
- NAFDAC registration for processed or packaged food such as potato chips, flour or dried produce, and any Standards Organisation of Nigeria requirements for your product.
- Approvals for selling fertiliser, pesticides and other agro-chemicals, which are regulated separately from general trading.
- Any state permit connected to felling, milling or selling timber, if you run a woodlot or nursery, and any approval your fish ponds or water use may need. Ask the state agriculture and environment authorities what applies.
- Cooperative, farmers’ group or association membership, which you arrange with that body directly.
- State and federal tax obligations that apply to your sales and income.
- Opening a business bank account, which you do with your chosen bank once your certificate is in hand.
- Annual returns with CAC in later years, a small separate step we can also help with when the time comes.

Registering Farm Businesses Across Plateau State
The price, requirements and turnaround do not change with your location. Our coverage runs across the state.
- Potato country — Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu, the heart of the state’s Irish potato farming.
- Jos and Bukuru — Jos North, Jos South, Jos East, Bukuru and Vom, where vegetable growers, poultry keepers, produce traders and input dealers cluster around the city’s markets.
- Livestock and the southern belt — Wase, with its leaning toward livestock, along with Kanam, Dengi, Shendam, Mikang, Yelwa, Langtang North and Langtang South.
- Central Plateau and other towns — Pankshin, Kanke, Kwolla, Panyam, Riyom, Bassa and Amper.
A farm outside the towns is registered the same way as a business in Jos. If your farm, pond, nursery or produce store is anywhere in Plateau State, it is covered.
What the Season Asks of You
Farming does not wait for paperwork. A potato field has to be lifted before the rains turn, a pond needs checking, a truck is due at the farm gate, and the crop does not care whether you had time for a portal that day. Between planting, weeding, harvesting and getting the produce to market, there is very little room left for forms. Registering the business is one task you can hand over completely. When it is done, your farm or produce business has a registered name to use with buyers, suppliers and banks, and your attention stays where the work is.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
Not every registration service is the right match for every business owner, and that’s fine — here’s who tends to get the most out of working with us:
- You’d rather be in the field at harvest, at the market on trading day or checking a pond than sitting at a screen — with a buyer’s truck due and the weather setting your schedule, you want the paperwork done without losing a working day.
- You’re planning to move from selling raw produce at the farm gate to supplying aggregators, processors or institutional buyers — or to add processing such as chips or flour — and you want a registered name to take those deals under.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You want one message to actually mean one message — no chasing documents back and forth, no surprise extra fees once you’ve paid.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a farming business in Plateau State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Plateau State your farm is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a farm? For most owner-run farms, fish businesses and produce or input shops, yes. It gives you a legal name for invoices, buyer dealings and a bank account. Any approvals tied to your specific activities are a separate matter.
Do I have to register before I farm my own land? CAC registration does not give you the right to farm land, since land rights come from title or from the landowner. What it gives you is a legal business name that buyers, suppliers and banks recognise.
Does the registration cover my land or a Certificate of Occupancy? No. Land documents are handled separately by the relevant land authorities.
I grow potatoes and also keep livestock. Can both go under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example “crop farming, livestock and sale of farm produce”, and one registration covers it.
Can I include fish farming or a tree nursery? Yes. List them in your nature of business along with your other farm activities.
Will a CAC certificate help me sell to processors, aggregators or institutions? Larger buyers often ask for proof of registration before placing regular orders, so the certificate is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any sale.
Does it cover seed, agro-chemical or processed-food approvals? No. Those sit with bodies such as the National Agricultural Seeds Council and NAFDAC, and you handle them separately.
Is the price different in Bokkos or Wase than in Jos? No. The cost and turnaround are the same across every LGA in Plateau State.
My farm is rural and has no street address. Can I register? Yes. Send the best address you have, with the nearest town or landmark and the LGA, and we will use it for the application.
Can I register more than one farm or plot under one business name? One registration covers your business as a whole. Matters tied to a specific piece of land, such as title and any local permits, are handled for each site.
I only farm for part of the year. Can I still register? Yes. A seasonal business can be registered like any other, and the registration stays in place between seasons.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help with it when it falls due.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many farm businesses start with a Business Name and convert once they add partners, equipment or investors. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are setting up a larger processing venture, sharing ownership with partners, or an investor requires a company structure, that route is worth considering from day one.
How will I receive my certificate? As a soft copy sent to you on WhatsApp. You can print it locally whenever you need a hard copy.
Do I need to visit an office to register? No. You send your details and a photo of your ID on WhatsApp, make one payment, and receive your documents the same way.
