Wedding aso-ebi, church outfits, school uniforms, corporate wear, ready-to-wear labels and the occasional runway collection all start with a measuring tape and a pair of scissors in Lagos. If you design, sew or sell fashion, putting the business under a registered name makes it easier to take deposits, order fabric on account and deal with customers who want to know exactly who they are paying. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate, wherever your studio or shop is in Lagos State. Registration costs ₦35,500, all-inclusive, with CAC’s fee and ours already counted in, and the certificate typically arrives in 5–7 working days.
All we need to begin is your business name on WhatsApp; the paperwork behind it is our responsibility.
Where Lagos Fashion Shows Its Work
Lagos is where Nigerian fashion goes to be seen. Lagos Fashion Week, founded in 2011 by Omoyemi Akerele, is scheduled for 28 October to 1 November 2026, five days of runway shows, presentations and business events that bring together designers, buyers, retailers, manufacturers and media. Behind every label on that schedule stands a workshop of cutters, tailors and finishers. Across the city’s neighbourhoods, thousands of tailors and seamstresses do the same craft for private clients on a smaller scale. Confirm the programme and venue with the organisers.
⏱️ Turnaround Time: 5 – 7 Working Days
✅ What You Get: Official CAC Certificate + Certified Status Report
🚚 Delivery: Soft Copy Sent via WhatsApp (Print Hard Copy Locally)
Whether you are a bespoke tailor or a label stocking boutiques, the commercial side looks much the same: invoices to customers, deposits for fabric, supplier accounts and buyers who want to know who they are dealing with. A CAC certificate will not win you a place at any event, because organisers choose their own participants. What it does give your brand is a registered name to put on contracts, stockist agreements and bank paperwork.

Business Name or Company? A Practical Comparison
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Individual tailors, designers, boutiques and online fashion brands | Growing labels, uniform contractors, and businesses with co-founders, partners or investors |
A Business Name suits a tailor, designer or boutique owner who needs a legal name for invoices, supplier accounts and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company becomes more attractive when your label moves into wholesale or small-scale manufacturing, you take on large uniform or corporate orders, or you bring in co-founders or investors, because the business then stands apart from your personal assets. Many fashion businesses begin with a Business Name and upgrade later.

Registering Fashion and Tailoring Businesses Across Lagos

If your fashion business is anywhere in Lagos State, we can register it.
Fittings, Deadlines and Owambe Weekends
A tailor’s calendar is set by other people’s parties. Orders pile up before the wedding season, a bride wants a fitting at the last minute, a client calls to say the ankara has changed and the fabric supplier wants a deposit before releasing the next roll. Deadlines are fixed; the paperwork never feels urgent enough to do. So it waits. Pass it to us. Once the certificate arrives, your studio has a registered name for invoices, receipts and supplier orders, a small sign of seriousness that matters when a corporate client asks for a quotation or a boutique asks for a stockist agreement.
A Good Match If…
A registration agent should suit the way you work. Here’s who tends to be happiest with us:
- Your days run on cutting, fittings and deadlines for the next big weekend — and you have no spare hour to spend on CAC’s portal.
- You’re growing from custom orders toward a ready-to-wear line, school and corporate uniform contracts, stockists or a second studio — and you want a registered name to build under.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want a quote you can plan around — ₦35,500 in total, and nothing arriving later to add to it.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a fashion design or tailoring business in Lagos State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, wherever in Lagos you work. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the CAC application and filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a tailor or fashion designer? For most individual tailors, designers and boutiques, yes. It gives you the legal name you need for invoices, supplier accounts and a bank account.
Does registering with CAC protect my label’s name as a trademark? No. A name that is free on CAC’s register is not automatically a protected trademark. Trademark registration is a separate process that is worth considering once your label appears on tags and packaging.
Does registration protect my original designs from being copied? No. CAC registration gives your business a name and an identity. Protection for designs and patterns goes through intellectual-property channels and is handled separately.
I run a sewing school with apprentices. Can I register? Yes. Describe the business as fashion training and tailoring services. Your arrangements with apprentices are between you and them and are not part of the registration.
Can I register an online fashion brand that sells on Instagram? Yes. You need a Lagos address and LGA for the application, such as your home, studio or office.
I make school and corporate uniforms. Does a Business Name work? Yes, to start. Large uniform contracts and growing production are the point where many businesses consider a Limited Liability Company.
Can I register a business that makes aso-ebi and event outfits? Yes. Describe the business as fashion design and event outfits, and register it the same way as any other tailoring business.
I sell fabrics and also sew. How should I describe the business? Keep it broad, for example “fashion design, tailoring and sale of fabrics.”
I sew from home. Can I register? Yes. Use your home address and LGA for the application.
My stall is in a fabric market. Which address should I use? Use your stall or shop address, including the shop number and the LGA. If you work from several places, send the main address you want on the certificate.
Does it matter which part of Lagos I work in? No. The price, requirements and turnaround are the same from Badagry to Epe and from Ikorodu to Apapa.
I haven’t rented a studio yet. Can I still register? You need a Lagos address and LGA. If you are still arranging premises, send the address you plan to use.
Can I run more than one workshop or shop under one business name? One registration covers the business as a whole. Premises-related permits usually attach to each location, so check what applies at every site.
Will boutiques and corporate clients ask for my CAC certificate? Many ask for proof of registration before placing regular or bulk orders or signing a stockist agreement, so it is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any order.
Do I need a CAC certificate to show at an event like Lagos Fashion Week? Organisers set their own selection rules, and registration does not guarantee a place. A certificate gives you a registered business name to present when you deal with organisers, buyers and sponsors.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
What if my first-choice brand name is taken? Send a backup and we will check it right away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I register my own name as my fashion brand? Yes, if it is available on CAC’s register. We check availability before reserving it, so send us your preferred names.
Can I move from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many designers start with a Business Name and convert when they scale into wholesale, take uniform contracts or bring in co-founders. We can assist with the conversion.
Do I have to file anything with CAC after registration? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step, and we can handle it for you when it falls due.
I import fabrics and accessories. Does registration cover that? The registration gives you a business name and TIN. Customs clearance, duties and any import restrictions are separate and handled by the relevant agencies.
