The Nasarawa State Government’s own profile of the state lists several timber-bearing trees, among them mahogany, shea, African balsam, locust bean and iron tree, and names Wamba, Awe, Keana, Doma, Nasarawa Egon and Toto as places where they grow. The same profile presents them as raw material for timber processing, furniture factories and related wood industries. On the demand side, the profile describes detailed district plans for seven new districts across 18,000 hectares in Karu, and land acquired in Lafia for six new urban districts. Karu itself is the fast-growing urban area on the Abuja border, with Mararaba alone home to three major markets.
