An inverter and battery bank for a shop in Lafia, a solar street light for an estate in Mararaba, a generator that needs servicing before a Keffi wedding, a solar-powered pump for a farm: power and solar businesses in Nasarawa State keep homes, shops, farms and offices running, and customers who pay for expensive equipment like to see a registered business behind the quote. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We take care of the name search, the filing and the certificate for solar installers, inverter and generator dealers and energy contractors in all 13 of the state’s local government areas. One WhatsApp message with your business name is all it takes — we manage the rest.

Nasarawa’s Power Market Now Has Its Own Regulator
The state’s electricity market is regulated from Lafia. Under the Electricity Act 2023, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission transferred oversight of the intrastate electricity market to the Nasarawa State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NASERC), effective 4 August 2025. NERC also directed the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company to set up a subsidiary to take over intrastate supply and distribution in the state. Under this arrangement, a licence for a generation or distribution project that serves a single state now comes from that state’s regulator, under that state’s rules, rather than from Abuja.
At the same time, solar is becoming part of how the state builds. The state government has said solar-powered residential estates are being developed at the Peninsula Housing Project in Masaka and the Technology Village in Mararaba, and the Doma Agrocity sesame project has announced plans for solar-powered irrigation and a one-megawatt solar mini-grid. Whether a particular installation needs a permit depends on its size and type, and NASERC is the office to ask. For any business that installs, sells or services power equipment, being a registered business with a legal name is the starting point for dealing with a regulator, a developer or a bank.

- Inverter and battery dealers — sellers and fitters of inverters, lithium and tubular batteries, and charge controllers.

- Generator sellers and service engineers — sales, servicing, repairs and spare parts for petrol and diesel generators.
- Hybrid-system and small mini-grid developers — larger installations that combine solar, batteries and generators.

- Solar equipment retailers and wholesalers — shops supplying panels, cables, mounting kits and accessories.
What Falls Outside This Registration
CAC registration gives your business its legal name. These items are separate, and which of them apply depends on what you install, sell or operate.
- Printed copies of your certificate: it arrives as a soft copy on WhatsApp, and you print it locally when you need it
- Permits or licences from NASERC, or from NERC where the matter is still federal, for generation, distribution or mini-grid projects that supply customers, depending on size and type
- Electrical installation inspection and certification requirements, for example through the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency, for the work you carry out
- Professional registration for engineers and engineering firms, such as with COREN, where the work requires it
- Import documentation, duties and standards checks for panels, batteries, inverters and other equipment you bring in
- Environmental rules on handling and disposing of used batteries and electrical waste, including those enforced by NESREA where they apply
- Brand, distributor or manufacturer authorisations and warranty arrangements for the products you sell
- Permission from estate managers, landlords or the authorities for work on public property, poles or roadsides
- VAT, income tax and other tax obligations that apply to your business
- Your business bank account, opened with your chosen bank once your certificate is in hand
- Annual returns in later years, a small separate step we can also help with
What Your ₦35,500 Covers
The ₦35,500 combines CAC’s government fee and our service fee in a single payment. If a company suits you better, the Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Preparation and filing of your CAC Business Name application
- The CAC government filing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Individual solar installers, inverter and battery dealers, small generator-servicing shops | Developers of larger systems or mini-grids, importers with substantial stock, firms with partners or institutional clients |
If you install or sell under one owner, a Business Name is usually enough to quote, invoice, buy stock and bank your payments. A Limited Liability Company is worth weighing once you hold large stock or imports, hire a bigger crew, share ownership, or work on installations where an estate, clinic or institution prefers to contract with a company. Many power businesses begin with a Business Name and convert later.
Registering Power and Solar Businesses Across Nasarawa State
The price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever you work. We register businesses in all 13 local government areas, and here is where the work tends to cluster.
- Housing estates and new developments: Karu, including Mararaba and Masaka, where solar-powered estates are being developed, along with Keffi, Lafia, Akwanga and Toto, which are named locations in the Federal Mortgage Bank’s housing projects in the state.
- Farms and agro-processing: Doma, where the sesame agrocity project has announced solar irrigation and a mini-grid, and Keana, Kokona and Lafia, where the state’s export strategy lists crops such as sesame, soybeans, yam, rice and groundnut.
- Shops, schools, clinics and offices: across every LGA, including Awe, Obi, Wamba, Nasarawa Egon and Nasarawa, wherever customers need inverters, solar lights and reliable generators.
If your business is anywhere in Nasarawa State, you’re covered.
Documents to Have Ready
- Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
- A valid means of ID: National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Nasarawa State, with the LGA (a shop, workshop, store or home address is fine)
- A phone number and email address
- Nature of business, described simply, such as “solar and inverter installation” or “power equipment sales and servicing”
- If you choose Limited Liability Company instead: names, ID and details of the directors and shareholders
The Registration Timeline
- Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal, which we handle for you.
- Reserve the name once it is confirmed available.
- Complete the application with your business, owner and Nasarawa State address details.
- Upload your ID and passport photograph. A clear phone photo is enough.
- Make one ₦35,500 payment covering everything listed above.
- Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, normally within 5–7 working days.
Beyond that first message and a single payment, there’s nothing left for you to chase up.

After a Day on the Roof, the Portal Can Wait for You No Longer
Your day starts with panels to carry, batteries to test and a client’s roof that needs a second look before the rain comes. By evening, you’re answering customers whose power has just failed. Nobody hires an installer for their skill with online forms. Registration is the one job in your business that you can complete in a single hand-off and then forget, and afterwards your business has a registered name for quotations, warranty papers, supplier accounts and the bank.
A Good Match If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather not spend an evening on CAC’s portal after a day on a roof, a site survey or a battery swap.
- You see your business growing from home inverters and shop systems toward estates, farms, clinics and maintenance or mini-grid work, and you want a registered name to quote under.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a solar or power business in Nasarawa State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, whichever LGA you work in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a solar installer or generator dealer? For most owner-run installers, dealers and service shops, yes. It gives you a registered name to trade under. A company structure is worth considering once you carry large stock, hire a bigger crew, share ownership or take on larger institutional installations.
Can one registration cover solar, inverters, generators and electrical works? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as solar, inverter and power equipment installation and sales, and one registration can cover them together.
Do I need a NASERC licence to install solar systems? CAC registration is separate from any permit or licence from the electricity regulator. Whether a project needs one depends on its size, type and whether it supplies electricity to customers. Ask NASERC about your project before you start.
Do I need electrical installation certification as well? Inspection and certification of electrical work is handled separately, for example through the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency. It is not part of CAC registration, so confirm what applies to the work you do.
Can I register a solar street-light, solar pump or irrigation business? Yes. These businesses can be registered the same way as an installation business. Permits for work on public property and any technical approvals are separate.
Does registration let me import panels, batteries or inverters? CAC registration gives you the registered business name that import paperwork is filed under. Customs documentation, duties and standards checks are handled separately, so confirm the current requirements before ordering.
Will estates, clinics, schools or offices ask for proof of registration? Organisations and estate managers often ask for proof of registration before awarding or paying for installation work, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any job.
Will suppliers and lenders deal with me more readily if I’m registered? Some suppliers, distributors and financiers ask for proof of registration before granting credit or financing. It varies, so ask them directly what they need.
Can I get registered before my first big installation or bid? The usual turnaround is 5–7 working days, so message us early. A backup name helps if your first choice is taken.
What if I work from home and have no shop? A home address is fine if that is where the business is based. You need a business address in Nasarawa State, with the LGA, so send the address you plan to use.
How long does it take? Usually 5–7 working days from the point you pay.
Do I get a printed certificate? The certificate arrives as a soft copy on WhatsApp, and you print it locally when you need it.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Do you register businesses outside Lafia and Karu? Yes. We register power and solar businesses across all 13 LGAs, from Akwanga and Wamba to Keana and Toto, at the same price and turnaround.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are building larger systems or a mini-grid, importing in volume, bringing in partners or investors, or a client or financier requires a company structure, the Limited Liability Company route is worth considering from day one.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many power businesses start with a Business Name and convert as stock, crews and contracts grow. We can help with the conversion.
What if my proposed name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help with it when the time comes.
What about a business that sells both solar equipment and household electrical goods? Describe the activities broadly when you register. Product-specific approvals, if any apply to what you sell, are handled separately.
