Ogun State sits between Lagos and the Benin Republic, which makes it one of the busiest places in the country to buy, stock and resell goods. If you run a provision store, a stall in an open market, a wholesale depot or a distribution business anywhere in the state, putting the business under a registered name is the paperwork that lets suppliers, banks and bigger buyers take you seriously. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We do the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, so you can stay with your stock. It really is this simple: send us your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll handle everything else.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Fits | Owner-run shops, stalls, depots and online sellers | Wholesalers with partners, larger distributors, or traders seeking investors or big supply deals |
A Business Name is normally enough for a trader who runs the business personally and needs a registered name for invoices, supplier accounts and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering when you have co-owners, when you are carrying large stock on credit, or when you want the business kept apart from your personal assets. Many traders begin with a Business Name and upgrade as turnover grows.
Documents to Have Ready
- Two business names, ranked by preference
- A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Ogun State, with the LGA
- A phone number and an email address
- A plain description of your trade, such as “general merchandise, trading and wholesale” or “supply and distribution of household goods”
- If you pick the Limited Liability Company: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders
The Registration Timeline
- Name check: we search CAC’s public portal for your name.
- Reservation: we hold the name once it’s confirmed free.
- Application: we complete it with your business and Ogun address details.
- Your documents: you upload your ID and passport photograph — a phone photo is enough.
- Payment: you pay the ₦35,500 filing fee, one payment for everything above.
- Delivery: your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, usually in 5–7 working days.
That’s the full extent of it on your part: send the details, make one payment, receive your certificate.
Ogun’s Border Corridor and the Case for a Paper Trail
For a trader in Ogun State, the Benin Republic border is never far away. Idiroko, in Ipokia LGA, has been an official crossing point since at least the 1960s. A September 2026 ThisDay report said the Nigeria Customs Service’s Ogun I Area Command works across Ipokia, Yewa South, Yewa North and Imeko-Afon. BusinessDay reported in May 2026 that in just 41 days the command intercepted contraband worth ₦6.77 billion, including foreign rice, petroleum products, expired foods and counterfeit medicines. Coverage of the same corridor describes it both as a route for legitimate commerce and as a front line against smuggling, and one August 2026 commentary argued that honest trade should not be caught in an enforcement net aimed at criminal networks.
For an honest wholesaler, the practical lesson is to be able to show who you are and where your goods come from: a registered business name, invoices from your suppliers and, for imports, the proper documents. CAC registration does not clear goods through Customs, and it does not make an import lawful. What it does is give your business a legal identity, which suppliers, banks and Customs-facing agents usually ask for first. Inland, long-running markets such as Sabo in Sagamu, a five-day market established in the 1800s, and the combined Sango-Ota market area keep wholesale buying and selling moving through the state.

If your shop, stall or depot is anywhere in Ogun State, we can register it.
Stock Arrives Early and Balances Stay Open Late
A trader’s day has its own rhythm: the supplier’s truck arrives before the shop opens, prices shift with the exchange rate, a retailer asks for goods on credit, and the day’s sales have to be counted against what’s still owed. Customers see full shelves and a counter that’s always open. They don’t see the bookkeeping behind it, and they certainly don’t see the registration that lets you put a business name on an invoice or a supplier account. Handing that one task to someone else is a small way to free up time for the part of trading that earns money.
A Good Match If…
Not every registration service is the right match for every business owner, and that’s fine — here’s who tends to get the most out of working with us:
- Your day starts when the supplier’s truck arrives and ends after you’ve reconciled the day’s sales and unpaid balances — there is no quiet hour left for a government portal.
- You’re moving from retail towards wholesale — supplying smaller shops on credit, becoming an appointed distributor for a brand, or adding a second outlet in Sagamu or Ijebu Ode — and you want a registered name your suppliers and bank recognise.
- You want honest advice, not an upsell — if a Business Name covers your stage, that’s what we’ll recommend.
- You want one message to actually mean one message — no chasing documents back and forth, no surprise extra fees once you’ve paid.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to register a provision store, market stall or wholesale business with CAC? If you trade under a name other than your own, registering it is the standard route. Suppliers, banks and larger buyers commonly ask for the certificate.
How much does it cost to register a trading business in Ogun State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, whichever Ogun town you trade in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What do I receive for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a wholesale or distribution business? For an owner-run wholesaler, often yes. If you have partners or hold large stock on credit, a Limited Liability Company may suit you better, and we’ll tell you honestly which one fits.
I sell lots of different products. How should the business be described? Describe it broadly, for example general merchandise, trading and wholesale, so the registration reflects the full range of what you sell.
My business is a market stall, what address do I give? Give the market name, your stall or shop row and the LGA. If you haven’t settled on a spot yet, send us the address you plan to use.
Does this registration let me import or export goods? No. Customs clearance, duties and any export registration are separate. The certificate gives you the legal business name to operate under.
Do I have to register packaged foods, drinks or cosmetics with NAFDAC? NAFDAC has its own process for regulated products, and CAC registration doesn’t replace it. Check what applies to the products you stock.
What about SON requirements for the goods I sell? The Standards Organisation of Nigeria handles certification for products that need it. That’s separate from registering your business name.
Does the TIN mean I’m registered for VAT? The TIN identifies your business for tax purposes. VAT registration and filing depend on your turnover and are handled separately.
Will the certificate help me get goods on credit or open a bank account? Banks usually ask for it when opening a business account, and suppliers sometimes want proof of registration before offering credit terms. It supports the request without guaranteeing credit.
Can I become a brand’s distributor with a registered business name? Many manufacturers want to see a registered business before appointing a distributor. The certificate helps your application, but it doesn’t guarantee an appointment.
I sell through WhatsApp and Instagram. Can I register an online store? Yes. Describe the nature of business as general trading or online retail, and use the address you operate from.
Can one registration cover more than one shop? The registration covers the business as a whole. Local levies and permits for each shop or stall are handled by your local authorities.
I run the business with a partner. Which structure should we choose, and what if we outgrow the Business Name? A Limited Liability Company is usually the cleaner structure for co-owners. If you start with a Business Name, you can convert later, and we can help with that.
What happens if my chosen name is already taken? Send us a backup name or two and we’ll check them quickly. Having alternatives ready saves time.
I don’t have a shop yet. Can I register first? You need a business address and the LGA for the application. If you’re still looking for premises, send the address you intend to use.
Is anything due to CAC after the first year? Registered businesses must file annual returns. It’s a separate step, and we can look after it when it falls due.
Is the TIN really included in the price? Yes. The Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500.
Do you register businesses outside Sagamu, Ota and Abeokuta? Yes. We register trading businesses across all of Ogun State, from Ipokia and Idiroko to Ijebu Ode and Ogun Waterside, at the same price and timeline.
