Opening a clinic, maternity centre or nursing home in Lagos takes more than a building and a team of qualified staff. The facility also needs a legal identity: a registered name that appears on patient invoices, supplier accounts, staff contracts and bank paperwork. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever your facility is in Lagos State, so your attention stays on patients and your clinical team. It really is this simple: send us your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll handle everything else.

In Lagos, CAC Comes First and HEFAMAA Follows
Health facilities in Lagos are regulated by the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), which was established under the state’s Health Sector Reform Law of 2006 to register, inspect and monitor public and private facilities. The agency states that every health facility in the state must register with it. Its registration guidance lists a CAC registration certificate among the documents an applicant uploads, together with items such as a tax receipt, a waste-management letter from LAWMA and the credentials of the medical staff. HEFAMAA’s own list of facility types includes nursing and convalescent homes, maternity centres, specialist clinics and multi-specialty hospitals, so the process covers everything from small clinics to large hospitals.
One point deserves care. A 2022 news report quotes HEFAMAA’s Executive Secretary saying private facilities must hold CAC certificates of incorporation, which is wording associated with companies. The agency’s own pages simply say “CAC registration certificate.” Requirements can differ by facility type and change over time, so ask HEFAMAA what it will accept for your facility before you choose between a Business Name and a Limited Liability Company. Whichever you choose, the order is the same: register with CAC first, then apply to HEFAMAA for your facility. We handle the CAC step only; the HEFAMAA process and all licences stay with you.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company for a Health Facility
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Small clinics, solo practitioners and owner-run nursing homes | Larger hospitals, multi-doctor practices and facilities with partners or investors |
Where HEFAMAA accepts it for your facility type, a Business Name can be a workable starting point for a small, owner-run clinic or care home. Healthcare, though, is a field where the risks to your personal assets are real: a larger facility, several owners or an investor typically points toward a Limited Liability Company, because the business then stands apart from you personally. Because requirements differ by facility type, we would rather tell you plainly which fits than push either option. If you start with a Business Name, you can convert later.
Where in Lagos Your Facility Can Be
Price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever your clinic, hospital or home is located. These are some of the areas our clients register from.
Ikeja and the northern mainland

- Alimosho, Ikotun/Igando, Egbe-Idimu and Abule-Egba — facilities serving some of the state’s most densely populated areas
- Apapa, Orile and Ajeromi-Ifelodun — clinics near the port and industrial districts
- Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry — facilities in the towns at the edges of the state
If your facility is anywhere in Lagos State, we can register it.
What to Have on Hand
- Two business names you’d like, ranked by preference
- A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- The address of your facility in Lagos State, with the LGA. If you’re still arranging premises, send the address you plan to use.
- A phone number and an email address
- A plain description of the services — for example, “medical and healthcare services” or “nursing home and elderly care services”
- If you choose a Limited Liability Company: names, ID and details of each director and shareholder
How We Get You Registered
- Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal — done on our side.
- Reserve the name as soon as it’s confirmed available.
- Complete the application with your business, owner and Lagos address details.
- Upload your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone photo is enough.
- Pay the ₦35,500 filing fee — one payment covering everything above.
- Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.
From your side, that’s the entire process: one message, one payment, one certificate.

Patients Don’t Wait for Paperwork
Healthcare runs on timing: a clinic queue that builds before the doctor arrives, a ward round that overruns, a nurse waiting for a shift handover, a generator that must start when the power drops, a supplier who delivers consumables at the worst moment. You already hold a hundred details in your head, from drug stock to rosters to a patient’s follow-up date. Writing a CAC application between all that is a task most owners keep postponing, so we take it off your hands. When it’s finished, your facility has a registered name to use on patient receipts, staff contracts, supplier accounts and the documents HEFAMAA asks for.
A Good Match If…
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’d rather be on the ward, in the consulting room or at a shift handover than working through CAC’s portal on your phone between patients.
- You’re planning to grow beyond one clinic — from a single clinic to a multi-specialty hospital, a nursing home with extra wings, or a second branch in another part of Lagos — and you want a registered name to build under.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to register a hospital or clinic with CAC in Lagos State? ₦35,500, all-inclusive, for a Business Name, wherever in Lagos your facility is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a clinic or hospital? It can be a starting point for small, owner-run facilities, but whether HEFAMAA accepts it depends on your facility type and its current requirements. Ask HEFAMAA before deciding, and consider a Limited Liability Company for larger facilities or ones with several owners.
Does CAC registration replace HEFAMAA registration? No. HEFAMAA registers and monitors health facilities in Lagos State, and registration with it is a separate application. CAC registration gives you the registered name and certificate that HEFAMAA’s process asks for.
What does HEFAMAA ask for? Its guidance lists documents such as a CAC registration certificate, a tax receipt, a LAWMA letter, staff credentials and a letter from your LGA’s Medical Officer of Health. The list varies for new and existing facilities, so check HEFAMAA’s portal for the current one.
Can I register a nursing home or maternity centre the same way? Yes. We register nursing homes, convalescent homes and maternity centres the same way as clinics and hospitals. HEFAMAA lists these as their own facility types for its separate registration.
Does the CAC certificate cover my doctors’ and nurses’ licences? No. Professional licences belong to the individual practitioners and come from bodies such as MDCN and NMCN. They’re separate from CAC registration.
What should I write as the nature of business? Describe it simply, for example “medical and healthcare services” or “nursing home and elderly care services.” A broad description helps if you add services later.
Can I register before I’ve found my premises? You need a Lagos State address and its LGA for the application. If you’re still arranging the building, send the address you plan to use.
Can several doctors register one practice together? A group practice can register, but ownership by several people is a point where a Limited Liability Company is often the cleaner structure. Tell us who the owners are and we’ll advise you plainly.
Can I register a clinic and a pharmacy or laboratory under one name? Yes, you can describe the business broadly. A pharmacy, laboratory or imaging service on the premises may need its own approvals from the relevant regulators.
Will the certificate help me work with HMOs or health insurance schemes? Insurers and HMOs commonly ask providers for proof of registration. Their accreditation is a separate process, and the certificate doesn’t guarantee acceptance.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC after the first year? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It’s a small, separate step, and we can help when it falls due.
What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many healthcare businesses start small and convert as they grow, and we can help with the conversion. Tell the licensing bodies you deal with about any change in your business structure.
When does it make sense to start as a Limited Liability Company? If you’re opening a larger hospital, sharing ownership with partners, bringing in investors, or an agency or insurer expects a company, starting as an LLC is worth considering.
Can I register a home-care or mobile health service? Yes. We register home-care and mobile services as long as you have a Lagos State address and LGA. HEFAMAA treats mobile clinics as a facility type of their own, so ask it about the separate approvals.
Do you register facilities outside the big hospital districts? Yes. We register health businesses across all of Lagos State, from Ikorodu and Epe to Badagry and Apapa, at the same price and turnaround.
