Opening a clinic, a maternity home or a nursing home in Plateau State starts long before the first patient walks in, and a registered business name is one of the first pieces of paperwork on the list. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We take care of the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, whether your facility is in Jos or in a smaller town elsewhere in the state, so you can put your attention on staff, premises and equipment. It really is this simple: send us your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll handle everything else.
What Plateau’s Health Ministry Asks Private Facilities For
In Plateau State, private clinics, hospitals, dispensaries and laboratories are licensed through the state Ministry of Health. The ministry’s published process for establishing a private health establishment starts with a letter of intention or an application through its portal, then a registration form submitted with supporting documents. Those documents include your CAC registration, professional certificates with dates, the annual practising licences of your professional staff, and a site plan with approvals from the relevant authorities. The application goes through the local government’s technical facilitator.
After that, a local government team carries out a pre-inspection visit, and the ministry’s inspectorate follows with its own inspection. According to the ministry’s process, a facility that meets 75% of the guidelines can receive provisional approval to operate for six months. A full licence is issued when the proprietor meets all of the guidelines, and an annual operating licence follows on payment of the renewal fee through the state revenue service.
⏱️ Turnaround Time: 5 – 7 Working Days
✅ What You Get: Official CAC Certificate + Certified Status Report
🚚 Delivery: Soft Copy Sent via WhatsApp (Print Hard Copy Locally)
State health financing also matters if you plan to serve insured patients. The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) was set up in 2019 to run the state’s contributory health scheme, and it runs an Equity Health Plan for groups such as under-fives, pregnant women, the elderly and people with disabilities. Facilities that want to take part should ask PLASCHEMA directly what it requires. Your CAC certificate is one document in this chain, not the whole chain. It gives you the registered name that the rest of your applications are made under. Steps and fees change, so confirm the current ministry requirements before you apply.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Sole-owner clinics, consulting rooms, small maternity and care homes | Hospitals with beds, partner doctors, investors or several shareholders |
A Business Name suits a facility where one person owns and runs the business and needs a legal name for receipts, a bank account and licence applications. Healthcare carries its own risks, though, and a Limited Liability Company separates the business from your personal assets. It is also the more common choice once a facility has partner doctors, outside investors or several shareholders. Some HMOs or institutional clients may have their own preferences, so it is worth asking those you plan to work with. Many owners start with a Business Name and convert later.
Documents to Have Ready
- Two business names you would like, listed in order of preference
- One valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- The facility’s address in Plateau State, together with the LGA
- A phone number and email address you use
- A short description of the business, for example “private hospital and clinic services” or “nursing home and elderly care”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, ID and details of every director and shareholder

- Reservation: once the name clears, we hold it for you.
- Application: we complete the form with your business, owner and Plateau address details.
- Your documents: you send your ID and passport photograph — a phone photo is enough.
- Payment: you pay the ₦35,500 once, covering everything listed above.
- Delivery: your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report reach you, usually within 5–7 working days.
From your side, that’s the entire process: one message, one payment, one certificate.
What Falls Outside This Registration
- Printed copies of your certificate — it is delivered as a soft copy, and you can print it locally when needed
- The operating licence from the Plateau State Ministry of Health for a private health establishment, including its inspections, any provisional approval period and the annual renewal
- Registration and annual practising licences for your professionals with their regulators, such as the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, where they apply to your staff
- Approval for any pharmacy, laboratory or imaging services you run inside the facility, which have their own regulators and rules
- Accreditation with PLASCHEMA or any HMO, if you plan to take insured patients
- A development permit and site approvals, such as from the Jos Metropolis Development Board where your premises fall under it
- Waste-management arrangements for clinical and medical waste, and other environmental requirements for the premises
- State and federal tax obligations that apply to your facility, including payments through the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service
- Opening a business bank account, done with your bank once the certificate is in hand
- Annual returns filing in future years — a small, separate step we can also handle when it falls due

A Quiet Ward at Three in the Morning Is Built on Paperwork
Patients judge a facility by things they feel at once: a nurse who greets them calmly, a doctor who has time to explain, a clean ward, and a bill that matches what they were told. Behind those moments sit rosters, drug supplies, shift handovers, staff licences and a long list of approvals. Your registered name is one item on that list that can be settled without you spending a minute in front of CAC’s portal. When it’s done, your facility signs receipts, appears on staff records and opens its bank account under a proper legal name.
A Good Match If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’re juggling ward rounds, patient registration, a night-shift handover and a pharmacy order that hasn’t arrived — the CAC portal is the last thing you have time for.
- You’re thinking of growing from a consulting clinic into a facility with beds, or from one nursing home to a second branch — and you want a registered name that can carry that growth.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Questions Plateau Clinic and Hospital Owners Ask
How much does CAC registration cost for a hospital, clinic or nursing home in Plateau State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, wherever in the state your facility is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name check and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a clinic or small hospital? For a facility with a single owner, a Business Name gives you the registered name you need to start applying for approvals and open a bank account. Larger facilities with partners or investors often choose a Limited Liability Company instead.
Can a nursing home or elderly-care home be registered the same way? Yes. Describe the nature of business as nursing home or elderly care, and the registration process is identical to that of a clinic or hospital.
Does CAC registration replace the Plateau State Ministry of Health licence? No. The ministry licenses private health establishments separately, through its own application, inspection and annual renewal. CAC registration is one of the documents the ministry lists in its application.
What does the Ministry of Health ask for besides CAC registration? According to its published process, it also asks for professional certificates, annual practising licences for professional staff, and a site plan with approvals from the relevant authorities. Confirm the current list with the ministry before you apply.
Do my doctors and nurses need to register with their councils separately? Yes. Professional registration and annual practising licences are handled by the relevant regulators, not by CAC, and are separate from this service.
Does the registered owner have to be a doctor? CAC registration itself does not set that condition, but health regulators have their own rules about who may run and staff a facility. Check those requirements with the Ministry of Health before you commit.
Can I register a hospital with a pharmacy or laboratory inside it under one name? Yes. Describe the business broadly, such as “hospital and clinic services”. A pharmacy or laboratory within the facility may need its own approvals from the relevant regulators.
Can I register more than one facility under one business name? One registration covers your business as a whole. Licences and approvals are generally handled per premises, so confirm what each location needs.
I haven’t secured my premises yet. Can I still register? You need a Plateau State address and its LGA for the application. If you are still arranging a building, send the address you plan to use. The ministry also asks for a site plan and approvals at its own stage.
Do you register facilities outside Jos and Bukuru? Yes. We register health businesses across all of Plateau State, from Langtang and Shendam to Pankshin, Mangu and Wase, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when it is due.
What if the name I want is already taken? Send a backup name and we will check it quickly. Having two or three options ready at the start keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many owners start with a Business Name and convert when partner doctors join or the facility grows. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are setting up with partner doctors, expecting outside investors, or building a larger facility with beds, the company route is worth considering from day one.
Will a CAC certificate help me work with PLASCHEMA or HMOs? Insurers and health agencies set their own accreditation requirements, and proof of registration is commonly part of any business dealing. The certificate is a useful document to have, but it does not guarantee accreditation or patient referrals.
