CAC Business Name Registration for Laundry in Lagos State

Lagos households and offices run on other people’s hands: the laundry that returns shirts pressed before Monday, the housekeeper who keeps an apartment running, the agency that finds a reliable nanny at short notice. If you offer any of that, a registered business name tells clients who they are dealing with and gives your service something solid to invoice and bank under. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever your laundry, office or agency is in Lagos State, so you can keep the work moving. Tell us your business name on WhatsApp — that single message sets the whole process moving.

Lagos Regulates Domestic Staff Agencies, and CAC Registration Comes First

If your business places household workers such as housekeepers, nannies, cooks or drivers, Lagos has a law written for you. The Lagos State Domestic Staff Service Providers (Registration) Law, 2019, was signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in June 2019. Its objectives include registering all domestic staff service providers operating in the state and collecting data on domestic staff, and it establishes a state registry for providers. The law defines a domestic staff service provider as a person who provides domestic staff to residents, “whether incorporated or registered under a business name,” so a registered business name is a recognised starting point for an agency. The text also warns that a provider or an individual who employs a child as domestic staff can be prosecuted under the state’s child rights and domestic violence laws.

That registry is a separate step from CAC, and the current process, forms and fees are set by the state, so confirm them with the relevant Lagos authorities before you start placing staff. For a plain laundry, ironing or cleaning business, this law does not apply in the same way, although other approvals might. The order is simple either way: register the business name with CAC first, then handle any state registration that applies to your kind of service.

A Business Name is usually enough for an owner-run laundry, an ironing service or a small cleaning business. A Limited Liability Company is worth weighing if you place staff in clients’ homes, hold garments or equipment worth a lot, hire a large team or take on partners, because the business then stands apart from your personal assets. A Business Name carries no such protection, so agencies in particular should think about it carefully. You can begin with a Business Name and convert later.

Requirements for CAC Registration in Lagos State

  1. Two business names you’d like, ranked by preference
  2. A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
  3. A passport photograph
  4. The address of your laundry, office or base in Lagos State, including the LGA. For a home-based or pickup-and-delivery service, use the address you operate from.
  5. A phone number and an email address
  6. A plain description of your service — for example, “laundry and dry-cleaning services” or “domestic staff placement and housekeeping services”
  7. If you choose a Limited Liability Company: names, ID and details of each director and shareholder

Step-by-Step: How Little This Actually Takes

  1. Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal — handled on our side.
  2. Reserve the name once it’s confirmed available.
  3. Complete the application using your business, owner and Lagos address details.
  4. Upload your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone photo is enough.
  5. Pay the ₦35,500 filing fee — one payment covering everything above.
  6. Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.

From here on, your part is small: send your details, pay once, and wait for the certificate.

Where in Lagos Your Laundry or Agency Can Be

Price, requirements and turnaround stay the same wherever you operate. These are some of the districts our clients register from.

If your laundry, office or agency is anywhere in Lagos State, we can register it.

Clean Clothes Don’t Wait for Paperwork

A laundry day does not allow gaps: bags arrive in the morning, there is a wash cycle to load, an iron that has to stay hot, and a customer waiting for a suit before an early meeting. Agencies have their own rhythm of calls from families, interviews, guarantor checks and placements that must happen quickly. Neither trade leaves a free afternoon for working through a government portal. We take that single job off your list, and when it’s done your service operates under a registered name that shows up on receipts, invoices, client agreements and bank documents.

A Good Match If…

Not every registration service is the right match for every business owner, and that’s fine — here’s who tends to get the most out of working with us:

If any of that rings true, you’re likely a good match for how we work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to register a laundry or domestic support business in Lagos State? ₦35,500, all-inclusive, for a Business Name, wherever in Lagos you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.

Is a Business Name enough for a laundry, cleaning company or staffing agency? For most owner-run laundries, ironing services and small cleaning businesses, yes. The Lagos domestic staff law also recognises providers registered under a business name. Agencies placing many staff may prefer a Limited Liability Company.

Do domestic staff agencies have to register in Lagos? The Lagos State Domestic Staff Service Providers (Registration) Law, 2019, provides for registering such providers in a state registry. It is separate from CAC, and the current process is set by the state, so confirm it before you begin placing staff.

Does CAC registration replace the state registry? No. CAC gives your business its registered name and certificate. The state registry for domestic staff providers is a separate application.

Can I register a laundry that I run from home? Yes. The application needs a Lagos State address and its LGA. Use the address you actually operate from.

I’m still setting up and have no shop yet. Can I register first? Yes, as long as you can give a Lagos State address and its LGA for the application. If you’re still arranging premises, send the address you plan to use.

Can I register laundry, cleaning and domestic staff services under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly. If you place household staff, the state registry still applies to that part of the business.

How should I describe the nature of business? Keep it plain, for example “laundry and dry-cleaning services” or “domestic staff placement and housekeeping services.” A broad description lets you add services later.

Do I register my workers with CAC too? No. CAC registration covers the business, not your staff. Employment arrangements, vetting and any staff-related obligations are separate.

Does a Business Name protect me personally if something goes wrong? No. A Business Name offers no personal liability protection. If you hold clients’ belongings in volume or place staff in homes, consider a Limited Liability Company, and we’ll say so plainly.

Will estates, hotels or offices ask for my certificate? Organisations often ask service providers for proof of registration before awarding recurring work. The certificate helps, but it doesn’t guarantee any client or contract.

Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, with your ID and other details.

Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500. Registering as an employer for PAYE is a separate step with LIRS.

Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It’s a small, separate step, and we can help when it falls due.

What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.

Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many service businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow, and we can help with the conversion.

When does it make sense to start as a Limited Liability Company? If you’re opening a larger laundry, placing staff in many homes, taking on partners, or serving organisations that prefer contracting with a company, starting as an LLC is worth considering.

Do I need environmental permits for a commercial laundry? Commercial laundries can face environmental and wastewater requirements. These are separate from CAC, so ask the state’s environmental authorities what applies to your premises.

Can I register a pickup-and-delivery or online-only laundry? Yes. Online and pickup-based services register the same way. You’ll still need a Lagos State address and LGA for the application.

I have two outlets. Does one registration cover both? One registration covers your business as a whole. Premises-level requirements, such as LIRS registration, are separate for each location.

Can you register my agency with the Lagos domestic staff registry? No. We handle the CAC registration only. The state registry application is yours to complete, and CAC registration gives you the registered name to apply under.

Do you register businesses outside the busiest residential districts? Yes. We register laundry and domestic support businesses across all of Lagos State, from Ikorodu and Epe to Badagry and Apapa, at the same price and turnaround.
