A pharmacy counter or a diagnostic laboratory asks customers for a particular kind of trust: people hand over prescriptions, blood samples and health worries, and they expect the business behind the counter to be properly established. A registered business name is the first piece of that foundation, and it is the name that appears on supplier invoices, patient receipts and bank paperwork. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever your pharmacy or laboratory is in Lagos State, so your attention stays on patients and stock. Send your business name through WhatsApp and we’ll take the filing off your plate from there.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company for a Pharmacy or Laboratory
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Small pharmacist-owned community pharmacies and medicine stores | Wholesale, distribution and import pharmacies, laboratories, and businesses with partners |
In this sector the structure often decides what a regulator will accept, so it deserves a careful look before you choose. PCN’s premises guidelines accept evidence of business name registration for pharmacist-owned community pharmacies, which is why a Business Name can work for a small retail outlet. Wholesale, distribution and importing premises are different: PCN asks for a company’s certificate of incorporation. Laboratories in Lagos fall under HEFAMAA, and a news report quotes the agency saying private health facilities must hold certificates of incorporation, so check with HEFAMAA before choosing a Business Name for a lab. An LLC also gives liability protection that matters when you handle medicines, samples and larger stock. If you start with a Business Name, you can convert later.
What to Have on Hand
- Two business names you’d like, ranked by preference
- A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license

- The address of your pharmacy or laboratory in Lagos State, including the LGA. If you’re still arranging premises, send the address you plan to use.
- A phone number and an email address
- A plain description of the business — for example, “retail pharmacy and sale of health products” or “medical laboratory and diagnostic services”
- If you choose a Limited Liability Company: names, ID and details of each director and shareholder
How We Get You Registered
- Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal — handled on our side.
- Reserve the name once it’s confirmed available.

- Upload your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone photo is enough.
- Pay the ₦35,500 filing fee — one payment covering everything above.
- Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, typically within 5–7 working days.
After the first message and one payment, the only thing left for you to do is collect your certificate.
Two Regulators, Two Routes, One Starting Point
Pharmacies and laboratories do not answer to the same body. Pharmacy premises in Nigeria are registered with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, and its guidelines require a registered superintendent pharmacist for every premises. A typical PCN application includes an application letter, the superintendent pharmacist’s annual licence and appointment documents, and the company’s certificate of incorporation, with the guidelines noting that business name registration is acceptable for pharmacist-owned community premises. Sources differ on who may own a retail pharmacy, so ask PCN what applies to your situation before you commit to a structure.
Laboratories in Lagos belong to a different track. HEFAMAA’s guidance for health facility registration addresses laboratories and diagnostic centres alongside hospitals and clinics, and its own list of documents includes a CAC registration certificate. The sequence is the same for either business: register with CAC first, then apply to PCN for the pharmacy or to HEFAMAA for the laboratory. We handle only the CAC step. The professional licences and premises approvals stay with you.
Where in Lagos Your Pharmacy or Laboratory Can Be
Price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever your premises are in the state. These are some of the districts our clients register from.
Mainland districts
- Ikeja, Maryland, Ojodu, Ojota and Magodo — pharmacies and laboratories near the state capital’s hospitals and offices
- Yaba, Ebute-Metta, Lagos Mainland and Makoko — outlets serving students, workers and local clinics
- Surulere, Mushin, Shomolu and Oshodi-Isolo — community pharmacies in busy residential and commercial areas
- Agege, Ifako-Ijaye, Kosofe and Agboyi/Ketu — pharmacies and sample points serving large neighbourhoods in the north
Island and Lekki corridor
- Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lagos Island — pharmacies and diagnostic centres serving offices, apartments and private clinics
- Lekki, Ajah, Eti-Osa and Ibeju-Lekki — new and growing neighbourhoods that need pharmacies and laboratories
West and outer Lagos
- Festac Town, Amuwo-Odofin, Ojo and Okota — outlets along the south-western residential belt
- Alimosho, Ikotun/Igando, Egbe-Idimu and Abule-Egba — pharmacies and medicine stores serving some of the state’s most populous communities
- Apapa, Orile and Ajeromi-Ifelodun — outlets near the port and industrial districts
- Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry — pharmacies and laboratories in the towns at the state’s edges
If your pharmacy or laboratory is anywhere in Lagos State, we can register it.
Dispensing Doesn’t Pause for Paperwork
A pharmacy day is full of small interruptions: a prescription that needs checking, a customer asking what to take with a medicine, a distributor’s delivery arriving mid-queue, stock to count before closing. A laboratory has its own schedule of samples to process, results due by a set time and equipment to keep calibrated. You carry a lot of detail in your head and little of it is forgivable to get wrong. A CAC application belongs on someone else’s desk, and that is where we put it. When it’s done, your business has a registered name for supplier accounts, receipts, bank documents and the paperwork your regulators ask for.
Is This Right for Your Business?
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’d rather be at the counter dispensing and counselling, or in the lab while samples are being processed and results are due, than working through CAC’s portal on your phone.
- You’re planning to grow — from one outlet to a second branch, from retail into wholesale supply to clinics, or from a small lab to a fuller diagnostic centre.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want one message to actually mean one message — no chasing documents back and forth, no surprise extra fees once you’ve paid.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.

Do I need to be a pharmacist to own a pharmacy? Every premises needs a registered superintendent pharmacist, and sources differ on ownership rules for retail pharmacies. Ask PCN what applies before choosing a structure. We handle the CAC step only.
Does CAC registration give me a PCN premises licence? No. PCN registers and inspects pharmacy premises. CAC registration gives you the registered name and certificate that PCN’s application asks for.
What does a PCN application usually include? Typical items are an application letter, the superintendent pharmacist’s annual licence and appointment documents, an agreement between the pharmacist and the owner, and the company or business name certificate. Check PCN’s current guidelines for the full list.
Do laboratories register through HEFAMAA in Lagos? HEFAMAA’s guidance for health facility registration covers laboratories and diagnostic centres, and its document list includes a CAC registration certificate. Confirm current requirements with HEFAMAA.

Do laboratory staff need professional registration? Yes, the professionals working in a lab have their own regulators, separate from CAC. Check with the relevant professional council for your staff.
Can I register a pharmacy and a laboratory under one name? You can describe the business broadly, but each part needs its own regulator’s approval, and requirements differ between a pharmacy and a lab.
What should I put as the nature of business? Describe it simply, for example “retail pharmacy and sale of health products” or “medical laboratory and diagnostic services.” A broad description helps if you add services later.
Can a patent medicine store register with CAC? Yes. A patent medicine store can register its business name, while licensing for such stores is handled separately by the relevant regulator.
Can an online pharmacy register? Yes, as long as you have a Lagos State address and LGA. Online pharmacies still face the regulators’ own requirements, which are separate from CAC.

Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It’s a small, separate step, and we can help when it’s due.
What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many health businesses start small and convert as they grow, and we can help with the conversion. Tell the regulators you deal with about any change in structure.
When does it make sense to start as a Limited Liability Company? If you’re opening a wholesale or import pharmacy, a laboratory, bringing in partners or investors, or serving organisations that prefer contracting with a company, starting as an LLC is worth considering.
I plan to open more than one outlet. Does one registration cover all of them? One registration covers your business as a whole. Premises registrations with PCN or HEFAMAA are separate for each location.
Do you register pharmacies and laboratories outside the main districts? Yes. We register health businesses across all of Lagos State, from Ikorodu and Epe to Badagry and Apapa, at the same price and turnaround.
