Opening a pharmacy, patent medicine shop or medical laboratory in Ogun State starts with a business that exists on paper under its own name. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We run the name search, file the application and deliver your certificate, whether your counter is in Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ota or a small town on the Yewa side. Starting is easy on your side: a WhatsApp message with your business name gets the whole thing moving.
What the Pharmacy Council’s July 2026 Sweep of Ogun Shows
In late July 2026, the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) reported the results of a four-day enforcement exercise in Ogun State. Its inspectors visited 738 premises across 11 local government areas, made up of 277 pharmacies, 288 patent medicine stores and 173 unregistered outlets. In the end, 383 premises were sealed: 123 pharmacies, 87 patent medicine stores and all 173 illegal outlets. The offences the council named included operating without a valid PCN licence, poor storage of medicines, and unauthorised access to controlled medicines. PCN also urged the public to buy only from licensed premises and to look for a current council licence on display.
That tells you where the real compliance work sits: with the PCN licence for your premises, and not with CAC. What CAC registration does is give your business its legal name and identity, which you will use on invoices, supplier accounts, your bank account and the paperwork that follows. In practice, the order is simple: register the business name with us, then apply to the relevant regulators for the licences your premises needs.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (everything included) | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Keeps your personal assets apart from the business | No | Yes |
| Documents issued | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Typical owner | A single-outlet pharmacy, a medicine shop or a small owner-run laboratory | A multi-branch pharmacy, a wholesale distributor, or a lab with partners or investors |
For a single outlet run by its owner, a Business Name usually gives you what you need to register the trade, issue receipts and open a bank account. Medicines and diagnostics carry more risk than most trades, so a company structure deserves a serious look once you open several branches, supply other pharmacies or clinics, or bring in partners, because it keeps the business separate from your personal assets. Keep in mind that PCN and other regulators set their own rules on who may own or run licensed premises. We handle the CAC filing only, so check those rules before you choose a structure.

From you, that comes to a message, a payment and a few working days of waiting; the filing and follow-up are ours.
Separate From This Registration
A CAC certificate does not authorise you to sell medicines or run tests. These approvals come from other bodies and are your responsibility:
- Printed copies of your certificate, which you receive as a soft copy and print wherever convenient
- Registration and licensing of your premises with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), including the licence a patent medicine store needs and the supervision requirements PCN attaches to licensed premises
- Registration of a medical laboratory and its practitioners with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
- NAFDAC requirements if you import, manufacture or distribute regulated products, as opposed to simply retailing them
- Records, storage and access rules for controlled medicines, which PCN named as an area of enforcement in Ogun
- Any state health approvals needed for clinical or diagnostic premises, which you should confirm with the Ogun State Ministry of Health
- Safe disposal of expired medicines, sharps and laboratory waste, including checking OGEPA’s published list of hazardous waste collectors
- Lease, fire-safety and building requirements for your premises, and reliable power for refrigerated stock
- State and federal tax obligations for your business
- A business bank account, opened with your bank once the certificate arrives
- Annual returns in later years, a small separate step we can help with when it falls due

Behind the Counter, Behind the Bench
A pharmacy and a laboratory both run on routine that cannot slip: the expiry shelf checked before the week begins, the fridge that must stay cold through a power cut, the prescription that needs a second look, the sample that has to reach the analyser on time and come back as a result someone can trust. You hold your customers’ health in your hands every shift. Putting your business under a registered name is a separate job, and handing it to us lets it sit in the background while your attention stays with the counter and the bench.
Is This Right for Your Business?
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather not work through CAC’s portal between prescriptions, with a stock count half done and a courier waiting for samples — you want the paperwork finished while the counter stays open.
- You’re thinking past a single outlet — a second branch, supplying patent medicine shops as a wholesaler, serving clinics and hospitals, or adding home sample collection to your laboratory — and you want a registered name to build on.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a pharmacy or laboratory in Ogun State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Ogun State you are. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
How long does it take? Typically 5–7 working days once we have your details and payment.
Is a Business Name enough for a pharmacy or laboratory? For a single owner-run outlet it usually gives you the registered name you need to start trading. A larger or shared operation may be better served by a company. Licensing from the regulators is a separate matter either way.
Does a CAC certificate allow me to sell medicines? No. Selling or dispensing medicines needs a licence for your premises from the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria. CAC registration gives you the registered business name you apply under.
Does a medical laboratory need a separate registration? Yes. Laboratories and laboratory practitioners are regulated by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, separately from CAC. Confirm the current requirements with the council.
Can a patent medicine store be registered too? Yes. The shop can be registered with CAC the same way. Its PCN licence is handled separately.
I’m still looking for premises. Can I register now? You need a business address in Ogun State and its LGA for the application. If you’re still arranging a location, send us the address you plan to use.
Can I register a pharmacy and a laboratory under one name? Yes, describe the business broadly. Each premises still needs its own licences, so confirm the approvals for every location you run.

Do you register businesses outside Abeokuta and Sagamu? Yes. We register businesses in all local government areas of Ogun State, at the same price and turnaround, from Ota to Idiroko.
Will a CAC certificate help with orders from clinics, hospitals or other pharmacies? Institutions and trade buyers commonly ask for proof of registration before they set up regular supply, so the certificate is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any order.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
How is my certificate delivered, and can I get a printed copy? Your documents arrive as soft copies on WhatsApp. You print them locally whenever you choose.
Is there anything to file with CAC after the first year? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small separate step, and we can help with it when the time comes.
What if my first-choice name isn’t available? We check the two names you give us in your order of preference. If neither is free, we’ll ask you for another.
Can I move from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many owners start with a Business Name and convert when the business grows into more branches or brings in partners, and we can help with the conversion.
When does a Limited Liability Company make sense from day one? When you are planning a multi-branch pharmacy group or a wholesale operation, will share ownership, or an investor or institutional partner requires a company.
