What Falls Outside This Registration

Best forOwner-run pharmacies, medicine stores and small laboratoriesLarger pharmacies, wholesale distributors, and businesses with partners or investors

A Business Name suits many owner-run pharmacies, medicine stores and small laboratories: it gives you a legal name for supplier accounts, receipts and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company tends to fit better once you add branches, wholesale volume, partners or investors, or want the business kept apart from your personal assets, which counts for more when stock is expensive and regulated. The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria has its own rules about who may own and supervise a pharmacy, so check them before settling on a structure. Many owners begin with a Business Name and upgrade as the business grows.

Documents to Have Ready

  5. A phone number and email address
  6. What the business does, in plain words, such as “pharmacy and medicine retail” or “medical laboratory and diagnostic services”

Why Oyo State Pharmacy Owners Hear From Regulators So Often

In May 2026 the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), the council’s name under the 2022 Act that replaced the old Pharmacists Council law, ran a national enforcement exercise across Oyo State. It covered council areas including Ona-Ara, Oluyole, Ibadan North, Akinyele, Lagelu, Egbeda, Ido, Ogbomosho South, Iseyin, Afijio, Ogbomosho North, Oyo West and Oyo East. According to the council’s own update, its team inspected 590 premises and sealed 397 of them: 60 pharmacies, 81 patent medicine stores and 256 outlets it classed as illegal. Earlier exercises in the state have been reported repeatedly, and officials have said the usual problems are premises that were never registered or whose licences had lapsed, medicines kept in poor storage and outlets selling beyond what they are allowed to.

For a new owner, the point is that the regulator looks at the premises, the licence and the supervision arrangement, none of which CAC registration provides. What the certificate does provide is a registered business name to apply and trade under, and a clear identity for suppliers, banks and partners. The sensible order is to register the business name first, then take your premises through PCN registration, or your laboratory through its own professional council, before you open. A CAC certificate does not stand in for any of those licences.

If your business is anywhere in Oyo State, we can register it.

Expiry Dates, Queues and Test Results Don’t Wait for Paperwork

Your working day is made of careful small checks: expiry dates on the shelf, the cold-storage reading, a prescription that needs a second look, a customer waiting for a result, a sample that must reach the bench before noon. Registration is a task that never fits between any of them. Hand it to us, and your business gets a recognised name for supplier accounts, delivery notes, receipts and bank paperwork, while you stay with the people and the products that need your attention.

A Good Match If…

We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:

If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for a pharmacy or laboratory in Oyo State? A Business Name is ₦35,500, all-inclusive, the same wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

What do I receive for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, CAC’s government fee, your Certificate of Registration as a soft copy, a TIN and a CAC Status Report.

Is a Business Name enough for a pharmacy? It gives you the registered name to trade under. The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria has its own rules on who may own and supervise a pharmacy, so confirm them before choosing between a Business Name and a company.

Does CAC registration license my pharmacy? No. Pharmacy premises are registered and licensed by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria. CAC registration gives you the business name you apply under.

Do I need a pharmacist to register the business with CAC? CAC registration itself is about the business name and the owner’s identity. Pharmacy premises typically need a registered pharmacist in a supervising role under PCN rules, which is a separate matter.

Can a patent medicine store register? Yes. A patent and proprietary medicine store can register a business name in the same way. PCN registration and the approved medicines list are separate.

Can a wholesale drug distributor register? Yes. The CAC process is the same. Wholesale distribution carries its own regulatory requirements, which are handled separately.

Does a diagnostic laboratory register the same way? Yes for the business name. A laboratory’s own professional registration and any health-ministry approval are separate steps.

Can I register a sample collection point or home phlebotomy service? Yes. Describe the business plainly and give the address you operate from or plan to operate from.

What about a shop selling medical consumables and equipment? It registers the same way. Any product-level requirements for what you stock or import are separate.

Would a CAC certificate protect my premises from being sealed? No. Enforcement looks at premises registration, licence renewal, supervision and storage, which are separate from CAC. The certificate does not replace them.

Does registration help with health insurance accreditation? It gives you the registered business name, which is typically a first requirement. Accreditation is a separate process that follows once your premises are licensed.

Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500.

How long does registration take? Usually 5–7 working days once your details and payment are in.

My pharmacy is outside Ibadan. Can you still register me? Yes. We register businesses across all of Oyo State, from Oyo and Ogbomosho to Saki and Ibarapa, at the same price and turnaround.

I haven’t secured premises yet. Can I still register? The application needs a business address in Oyo State and its LGA. If you are still arranging premises, send the address you plan to use.

What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send a backup and we’ll check it straight away. Two or three options keep things moving.

Can I run more than one branch under a single registration? One registration covers your business as a whole. Premises registration is separate for each outlet, so confirm it for every branch.

Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.

Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when it falls due.

Can I upgrade to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many pharmacies and laboratories start with a Business Name and convert as they grow. We can help with the conversion.

When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are building a larger pharmacy or distribution business, sharing ownership with partners, or an investor requires a company structure, the company route is worth considering from day one.

How will I receive my certificate, and do I need to print it? We send a soft copy via WhatsApp. If you want a physical copy, print it at any local business centre.
