A POS terminal on a Lagos street corner is a small business with real rules attached, and so is the phone shop selling airtime, data and accessories next to it. Both are easier to run, and easier to defend when a bank, fintech or supplier asks questions, once they sit under a registered name. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever your kiosk, shop or outlet is in Lagos State, so you can keep serving customers. Send your business name on WhatsApp and consider it handled — that’s genuinely the extent of what’s asked of you.

The 2026 Rules Behind Every POS Terminal in Lagos
POS work has changed sharply in the past two years, and Lagos, with its crowded market streets and commuter hubs, is where the changes show up first. The Central Bank of Nigeria’s consolidated agent banking guidelines, issued in October 2025, set out what an agent must provide to be onboarded, including a certificate of incorporation or business name registration, a physical address and identification details. The same framework ties terminals to registered locations through geo-fencing and, from 1 April 2026, requires each agent to work with a single principal, meaning one licensed bank or fintech, in place of the earlier habit of holding terminals from several providers.
On the CAC side, the commission announced that from 1 January 2026 no POS operator would be allowed to function without CAC registration, and said it would refer fintech companies that enable unregistered operators to the CBN. Reports on that deadline also say the commission expects agent banking to be listed as a business activity, which is why the description of your business matters. Enforcement and details can shift, and your own principal may add requirements, so confirm the current position with the bank or fintech that issued your terminal. What stays constant is the order: register the business name first, then complete your principal’s onboarding for the terminal.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company for a POS or Telecom Business
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |

| Best for | Individual POS agents, airtime vendors and single-shop phone sellers | Larger agent networks, import-heavy phone dealers, and businesses with partners |
For one kiosk or one shop run by one owner, a Business Name is normally enough, and CBN’s agent guidelines treat business name registration as acceptable alongside a certificate of incorporation. A company becomes worth considering when you operate several outlets, hold large stock of phones or devices, share ownership with partners or deal with suppliers who prefer to contract with a company. Many operators start with a Business Name and convert as the business grows.
Where Your ₦35,500 Goes
You pay once. The CAC filing fee and our service fee are both included, so nothing arrives later. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive, for operators who prefer to begin as a company.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Completion and submission of the CAC Business Name application
- CAC government filing/processing fee

- A CAC Status Report confirming your business is active on the public register

- Operating rules under CBN’s agent banking guidelines, such as transaction limits and reporting, which your principal applies to your terminal
- Telecom licences and approvals from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), which apply to operators and certain service providers, and type-approval rules that may apply to some telecom equipment
- Import documentation and customs steps if you bring in phones, accessories or equipment
- Business premises registration with the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) and any local government or LCDA levies
- Market, landlord or plaza arrangements for your stall, kiosk or shop
- Federal and state tax obligations, including VAT and PAYE where they apply
- Printed copies of your certificate — we send a soft copy, and you print it locally

That’s the full extent of it on your part: send the details, make one payment, receive your certificate.
Where in Lagos Your Outlet Can Be
Price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever you operate. These are some of the places POS and telecom businesses register from.
Commercial hubs and gadget markets
- Computer Village and Ikeja — phone dealers, accessory sellers and repair workshops in the well-known gadget market and the capital’s busy streets
- Alaba International Market, Ojo and Amuwo-Odofin — electronics and phone traders in the Ojo axis
- Lagos Island, Idumota and Obalende — agents and vendors working the island’s market streets and transport hubs
- Victoria Island and Ikoyi — agents and service points near offices and business towers
Dense residential and transport districts
- Surulere, Mushin, Shomolu and Oshodi-Isolo — kiosks and phone shops along busy roads and bus stops
- Yaba, Ebute-Metta, Lagos Mainland and Makoko — agents near campuses, markets and waterfront communities
- Agege, Ifako-Ijaye, Kosofe and Agboyi/Ketu — northern-mainland outlets serving large neighbourhoods
- Maryland, Ojodu, Ojota and Magodo — agents and phone shops along commuter routes
Lekki side, west and outer areas
- Lekki, Ajah, Eti-Osa and Ibeju-Lekki — growing neighbourhoods that need payment points and phone shops
- Festac Town, Okota, Orile and Ajeromi-Ifelodun — outlets across the south-western residential belt
- Alimosho, Ikotun/Igando, Egbe-Idimu and Abule-Egba — kiosks and shops in the state’s most populous areas
- Apapa, Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry — agents and vendors serving port workers and the towns at the state’s edges
If your outlet is anywhere in Lagos State, we can register it.
Customers Don’t Queue Politely
The counter is rarely quiet: a queue forms for withdrawals, someone needs airtime before a meeting, a transfer fails and the customer waits for your help, and a delivery of phones or accessories arrives while you’re mid-transaction. You also keep an eye on float, network downtime and the daily limits your principal sets. Between all that, a CAC portal is the last place you want to be. We take that one job off you completely. When it’s finished, your outlet operates under a registered name that your principal, bank and suppliers can verify.
Who This Service Suits Best
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather stay at your counter serving the customers waiting to withdraw, transfer or recharge than work through CAC’s portal between transactions.
- You want room to grow — from one terminal to more outlets, from a kiosk to a shop selling phones, accessories and airtime, where your principal’s rules allow.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You like knowing the full cost upfront — ₦35,500 covers the filing and our fee together, with nothing added later.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to register a POS business in Lagos State? ₦35,500, all-inclusive, for a Business Name, wherever in Lagos you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Do I need CAC registration to run a POS business? CBN’s agent banking guidelines ask agents for a certificate of incorporation or business name registration, and CAC has announced that unregistered POS operators would not be allowed to operate from 1 January 2026. Confirm current enforcement with your principal.
Is a Business Name enough for POS? For an individual agent with one or two terminals, usually yes. The CBN guidelines accept business name registration. A company suits larger networks or businesses with partners.
What should I put as the nature of business? Describe what you actually do, for example “POS and agent banking services, airtime and data sales, phone accessories.” Reports on CAC’s 2026 deadline say it expects agent banking to be listed as a business activity, so include it if you operate a terminal.
Does CAC registration get me a POS terminal? No. Terminals come from a bank or fintech that onboards you as an agent. They run their own checks, including BVN and NIN, and CAC registration is one of the documents they ask for.
Can I still use terminals from several providers? Under the CBN’s agent banking guidelines, agents were required to work with a single principal from April 2026. Ask your principal how the rule applies to you. This is separate from CAC.
Does my terminal have to match my registered address? The guidelines tie terminals to registered or approved locations through geo-fencing. Use the address you actually operate from, and tell your principal if you move.
Do I need to update my fintech account after I get the certificate? Principals commonly ask agents to submit the certificate and update their business details. Follow your provider’s process after you receive your documents.
Do airtime and data resellers register the same way? Yes. We register airtime, data and recharge vendors exactly as we register POS agents.
Do I need NCC approval to sell airtime or phones? NCC licenses telecom operators and certain service providers. Most small resellers buy from authorised distributors, so ask your distributor or the NCC about requirements for your activity.
Can I register POS, airtime and phone accessories under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly so it covers the range of what you sell and do.
Can I register if I operate from a kiosk or a plaza shop? Yes. The application needs a Lagos State address and its LGA. Use the kiosk, shop or plaza address where you operate.
I want to run several outlets. Does one registration cover them? One registration covers your business as a whole. Terminals and premises are tied to individual locations, so confirm the requirements for each with your principal and the relevant state offices.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It’s a small, separate step, and we can help when it’s due.
What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many POS and phone businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they add outlets or partners, and we can help with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start as a Limited Liability Company? If you’re building a network of outlets, importing phones or devices in volume, or bringing in partners or investors, starting as an LLC is worth considering.
Do you register outlets outside Computer Village and Ikeja? Yes. We register POS and telecom businesses across all of Lagos State, from Ikorodu and Epe to Badagry and Apapa, at the same price and turnaround.
