Cash withdrawals, transfers, airtime top-ups, data bundles and phone accessories keep a lot of Ogun State’s small businesses busy, and the rules around them have tightened. If you run a POS kiosk, an airtime and data stand, a phone shop or a business centre anywhere in the state, a registered business name is now part of the standard paperwork. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate, so you can keep the counter open. Give us your business name on WhatsApp and we’ll carry it through to the certificate.

What the Agent Banking Rules Mean for a POS Kiosk
The Central Bank of Nigeria issued new Guidelines for the Operations of Agent Banking on 6 October 2025. Among the documents they ask for from non-individual agents is evidence of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission, either a certificate of incorporation or a business name registration. The guidelines also took effect on a staggered timetable. From 1 April 2026, an agent has to be tied to a single principal, meaning one bank or licensed fintech, and POS terminals have to be registered to a fixed physical address. A report on the changes noted that roaming or itinerant POS operation was no longer permitted.
The Corporate Affairs Commission has pushed in the same direction. It named 1 January 2026 as the enforcement date for registration of all POS operators, and in June 2026 its board chairman said only about 20 per cent of POS operators nationwide were registered. The industry is not united on how far the requirement reaches. One trade body, AMMBAN, has argued that individuals operating in their own names are exempt, while the CBN guidelines clearly list CAC registration for non-individual agents. If you operate under a business name, it’s the document your principal will ask to see.
In practical terms for Ogun, a terminal belongs to a kiosk or shop address, whether that’s in Sagamu, Abeokuta, Sango-Ota or a border-side town like Idiroko, and not to whoever is carrying it around a market. CAC registration doesn’t make you an agent. Your bank or fintech principal does that. It gives you the registered name they will ask for.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Typical fit | A single POS outlet, airtime stand, phone shop or business centre | Super-agents, aggregators, multi-outlet operators and businesses with partners or investors |
For one outlet that you run yourself, a Business Name is usually enough and it’s the cheaper route. A Limited Liability Company becomes worthwhile when you manage a network of agents, hold large float for other people’s transactions, run several locations, or bring in partners. A lot of operators start with the Business Name and upgrade as the business grows.

- Your business address in Ogun State, with the LGA (use the kiosk or shop where your terminal will operate)

Float, Queues and a Network That Drops at the Wrong Moment
Anyone who has run a kiosk knows how a day goes. A customer needs cash urgently, another is waiting to top up, the network wobbles in the middle of a transfer, your float gets low just as the queue grows, and the power goes at the worst time. The people at your counter judge you by how quickly you serve them, not by what’s filed in Abuja. A registered name quietly protects the part they can’t see. It sits on your principal’s records, on your bank paperwork and on the receipts you give out, and it can be arranged without you leaving the counter.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
Before you decide, here’s an honest look at who gets the most from our service:
- You’re behind a kiosk counter all day, with withdrawals, top-ups and transfers coming one after another — and the terminal can’t sit idle while you work through a portal.
- You’re growing from one terminal to several outlets — perhaps a super-agent network under a principal, a phone-accessories shop beside the kiosk, or an airtime and data line — and you want a registered name your principal and bank recognise.
- You want honest advice, not an upsell — if a Business Name covers your stage, that’s what we’ll recommend.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need CAC registration to run a POS business in Ogun State? The CBN’s agent banking guidelines list CAC registration among the documents for non-individual agents, and the CAC has said it expects POS operators to register. Some trade groups dispute how far this reaches individuals, so check with your principal. If you operate under a business name, the certificate is the document they will ask for.
How much does it cost to register a POS or telecom business in Ogun State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company costs ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a POS kiosk? For a single outlet you run yourself, usually yes. If you manage other agents or several locations, or hold substantial float, a Limited Liability Company is worth considering, and we’ll tell you honestly which fits.
Does CAC registration make me a CBN-approved agent? No. You become an agent by being onboarded by a bank or licensed fintech. CAC registration gives you the registered business name they require.
Can I work with more than one fintech or bank? The CBN’s October 2025 guidelines tie an agent to a single principal, with the rule applying from April 2026. Confirm the current position with your principal before you sign anything.
Can I move my POS terminal around the market? The guidelines tie terminals to a registered physical location, so the terminal belongs to your kiosk or shop address. Your principal can tell you what is allowed in your case.
What address should I give? Use the address of the kiosk or shop where the terminal will operate, along with the LGA. If you are still arranging a spot, send the address you plan to use.
Can I sell airtime and data under the same registration? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example POS services, airtime and data sales and phone accessories.
Can a phone shop and a repair stand go under one name? Yes. One registration covers the business as a whole, so you can list sales, accessories and repairs together.
Can I register a cyber café or business centre? Yes. Describe the services you offer, such as internet access, printing and typing.
Do I need NCC approval? Reselling airtime or accessories usually doesn’t need a licence of its own, but providing telecom or internet services or selling certain devices can. Check with the Nigerian Communications Commission for your specific activity.
Can you help with SIM registration or line agent status? SIM services run through the network operators and their dealer arrangements. CAC registration doesn’t cover that, though the certificate is often one of the documents they ask for.
Is the TIN included? Yes. The Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
My principal gives me a dedicated agent account. Do I still need a bank account? The agent account or wallet is for agent banking transactions only. A business bank account is still useful for your other income and expenses, and the certificate helps you open one.
Will the certificate help me get onboarded? Principals usually ask for proof of registration when they onboard agents. The certificate supports your application, but approval is the principal’s decision.
Do I still need BVN and NIN? Yes. Those are part of your principal’s own checks and have nothing to do with CAC. You’ll provide them when you’re onboarded.
Can I run several outlets under one registration? The registration covers the business as a whole. Each terminal is tied to its own location, so check with your principal how multiple outlets are handled.
What if my first-choice name is taken? Send us a backup name or two and we’ll check them promptly. Having alternatives ready saves time.
Can I switch to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many operators begin with a Business Name and convert once they manage more agents or locations. We can help with that.
Do I have to file anything with CAC after the first year? Yes. Registered businesses must file annual returns. We can take care of it when the time comes.
I haven’t secured my kiosk yet. Can I register first? You need a business address and the LGA for the application. If you’re still choosing a location, send the address you intend to use.
Do you register businesses outside Sagamu, Ota and Abeokuta? Yes. We register POS and telecom businesses across Ogun State, from Ipokia and Idiroko to Ijebu Ode and Ogun Waterside, at the same price and timeline.
