Behind every busy POS counter, airtime kiosk and phone shop in Yobe State is a small business that still needs its name on paper. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent, and we register that name for POS operators, airtime and data resellers, phone shops and other telecom-related businesses in all 17 local government areas of Yobe State. We run the name search, make the filing and deliver the certificate. Send your business name on WhatsApp and consider it handled — that’s genuinely the extent of what’s asked of you.
Why POS Businesses Matter in Yobe, and What the CBN Now Expects
Financial services reach Yobe unevenly, which is a large part of why POS agents matter here. EFInA’s 2023 Access to Financial Services in Nigeria survey put national financial exclusion at 26 percent and found it highest in the North-East, at 38 percent. It also reported that every North-Eastern state sits above the national average, and that rural adults are far more likely to be excluded than urban ones (37 percent against 17 percent). Agents such as POS operators and mobile money agents are one of the main ways that gap is being closed.
The rules agents work under have changed too. The Central Bank of Nigeria’s Guidelines for the Operations of Agent Banking in Nigeria, issued on 6 October 2025, replaced the earlier agent-banking and super-agent rules. They require an agent to work with one principal institution at a time, call for regular training on KYC, fraud prevention and customer service, and bar an agent from relocating or closing its premises without the principal’s prior approval. Becoming an agent is a contract with a bank, a mobile money operator or a super-agent, and a CAC certificate does not replace it. What the certificate gives you is the registered business name you bring to that conversation. Principals set their own onboarding requirements, so ask yours what it needs and check the current CBN rules, because limits and conditions can change.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Single-owner POS outlets, airtime resellers, phone and accessory shops | Multi-outlet operators, businesses with partners or investors, larger telecom ventures |
For most one-person POS or airtime businesses, a Business Name does the job: it gives you a legal name for your account, your receipts and your dealings with a principal institution. A Limited Liability Company starts to make sense when you run several outlets, share ownership with partners, hold significant float or stock, or deal with an institution that asks for a company structure. If you are unsure which your principal institution accepts, ask them first. Many owners begin with a Business Name and upgrade later, and we can assist with that.
What to Have on Hand
- Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
- A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Yobe State, with the LGA
- Phone number and email address
- Nature of business, described simply, e.g. “POS and mobile banking services” or “airtime, data and phone accessories”
- If you choose Limited Liability Company instead: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders
How We Get You Registered
- Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal — handled on our end.
- Reserve the name once availability is confirmed.
- Complete the application with your business, director and Yobe address details.
- Upload your ID and passport photograph — a phone photo is fine.
- Pay the ₦35,500 fee, one payment covering everything listed above.
- Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.
That’s the full extent of it on your part: send the details, make one payment, receive your certificate.
Separate From This Registration
A POS or telecom business has several approvals that sit outside CAC. These are arranged separately:
- Printed copies of your certificate (you receive a soft copy and print it locally whenever it suits you)
- Your agent agreement with a bank, mobile money operator or super-agent, which is what actually appoints you as an agent, along with the principal’s own KYC checks and training
- Your POS terminal or other agent device, which comes from the principal institution or its terminal provider
- Nigerian Communications Commission authorisation if you offer licensed telecom services of your own, such as running an internet service
- Distributor or dealer arrangements with network operators for airtime and data resale
- NCC type approval and Standards Organisation of Nigeria requirements, which may apply if you import phones or telecom equipment for sale
- Shop, signage and market-stall approvals from the local government or state revenue authorities
- Federal and state tax obligations that apply to your kind of trade
- A business bank account, opened with your chosen bank once your certificate is in hand
- Annual returns filing in later years, a small separate step we can also help with when the time comes

Registering Telecom and POS Businesses Across Yobe State
Our service covers every one of Yobe’s 17 LGAs, and your outlet’s location changes nothing about the process or the fee. We register businesses in places including those below:
The larger towns
- Damaturu — counters serving offices, traders and travellers in the state capital
- Potiskum — outlets in a busy trading town, from POS desks to phone-shop rows
- Nguru — POS, airtime and phone businesses around the northern commercial centre
- Bade — outlets in and around Gashua
Other district centres
- Fika and Fune — POS and airtime points for the surrounding districts
- Gujba — outlets around Buni Yadi and nearby communities
- Jakusko — agent and phone-service businesses in the town and nearby communities
- Geidam — POS and airtime points serving the town and its neighbours
Smaller communities, where a local agent may be the closest cash point
- Bursari, Karasuwa and Machina — kiosks, POS outlets and phone-charging shops
- Gulani, Nangere and Tarmuwa — airtime sellers and agent outlets
- Yunusari and Yusufari — small outlets serving nearby communities
From Float to Filing: Keep Your Attention on the Counter
Between a morning cash-out queue, a float top-up that cannot wait and a customer whose transfer is stuck on a weak network, there is very little room left for CAC’s portal. Your reputation is built over the counter: how quickly you serve, how carefully you count and whether a customer’s money is where you say it is. Registering the business name is a job that has nothing to do with any of that, so hand it over. When it is finished, your outlet has a registered name to put on receipts, bank forms and the paperwork you give your principal institution.
A Good Match If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’re at the counter from opening time — serving a cash-out queue, topping up float and selling airtime — and you can’t leave a customer waiting while a portal loads.
- You’re moving from one terminal toward several outlets or a mixed shop — POS, airtime and data, phone accessories — and you want a registered name that distributors and principal institutions can deal with.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a POS or telecom business in Yobe State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, in any LGA. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough to run a POS business? For a single-owner outlet, a Business Name gives you the registered name you need to start. Your appointment as an agent is a separate agreement with a bank, mobile money operator or super-agent.
Does CAC registration make me a POS agent? No. Agent status comes from the principal institution you sign with. The CAC certificate gives you a registered name to bring to that process.
Do you supply POS terminals? No. Terminals come from the bank, mobile money operator or agent network you sign up with. We handle the CAC registration only.
Can I work with more than one bank or fintech? The CBN’s October 2025 agent-banking guidelines say an agent works with one principal institution at a time. A registered name does not change that, and you should confirm the current rule with your principal.
Do airtime and data resellers need to register too? You can register an airtime and data business the same way. Your supply arrangement with a network operator or distributor is handled separately.
Can a phone repair shop or phone accessories store register? Yes. Describe the business as “phone repair” or “phone accessories”, or more broadly if you do several things.
Can a cyber café or business centre register? Yes. A café offering browsing, printing and form-filling can be registered under the nature of business that fits it.
Can I register a POS outlet and a phone shop under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as “POS services, airtime and phone accessories”.
Do I need an NCC licence? Only if you provide licensed telecom services yourself, such as running your own internet service. Reselling airtime usually runs through an operator or distributor arrangement, so ask the party you buy from.
Can I register several outlets under one name? One registration covers your business as a whole. Principal institutions generally keep a record of each outlet’s location and expect notice before you move or close one, so tell yours before you add or relocate a counter.
I haven’t finalised my shop location. Can I still register? You need a business address in Yobe State and its LGA for the application. If you are still arranging a shop, send the address you plan to use.
Do you register businesses outside Damaturu and Potiskum? Yes. We register businesses in all 17 LGAs, from Bade and Nguru to Gulani and Yusufari, at the same price and turnaround.
Will a CAC certificate help with banks, distributors or partner companies? Banks, distributors and partner companies often ask for proof of registration, so the certificate is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee that any of them will work with you.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks request, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step and we can help with it when the time comes.
What if my proposed name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Two or three options ready from the start keeps things moving.
