CAC Business Name Registration for Poultry Farm in Osun State

A poultry house, a pig pen or a goat shed in Osun State is a daily commitment: feed, water, vaccines, clean-outs and buyers who want their eggs or birds on time. Putting that operation under a registered business name is one of the first steps that turns a farm into a business that banks, suppliers and bulk buyers can deal with. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We take on the name search, the filing and the certificate for livestock and poultry owners anywhere in Osun State, so your attention stays on your birds and animals.

Registering your business name costs ₦35,500, with CAC’s filing fee and our service fee both included. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

There’s no extra step hiding behind this: message us your business name, and we take it from there.

Osun’s Livestock Sector: Support Exists, and So Does Scale

Livestock has a visible place in Osun’s farm policy. The state has run the Osun Broilers Outgrowers Production Scheme, whose third phase handed more than a hundred livestock farmers 2,000 chicks each, along with vaccines, feed-mills and drugs. It was flagged off at Ede and aimed in particular at youths and women who could not afford to stock their pens. More recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, through its livestock directorate, has also been encouraging residents to take up pig rearing. Schemes like these come and go, and each sets its own conditions, so a registered business name does not guarantee a place in any of them.

What research on Osun poultry farms does show is that scale and costs shape the outcome. A study of egg producers in Iwo LGA found the business profitable but identified feed as the biggest variable cost, while an earlier appraisal of small and medium egg producers in Ife and Ilesa concluded that profit depended on the scale of operation. For a farmer moving from a few hundred birds to a bigger flock, that is where a proper registered name starts to matter: buyers who purchase eggs or dressed birds in volume, feed suppliers who extend credit and banks that open business accounts all tend to ask who they are dealing with.

CAC registration gives you a legal name and identity for the farm. It is not a licence to keep birds or animals, and it does not replace veterinary or state requirements, which are listed further down.

What Falls Outside This Registration

Keeping livestock involves approvals and responsibilities that sit alongside the CAC filing. Depending on what you do, expect to arrange these separately:

A Business Name usually does the job when you own and run the farm yourself and need a legal name for selling eggs or birds, buying feed and opening an account. A company becomes worth considering when the flock and the money involved are large, when relatives or partners own the farm together, or when an investor wants a company structure. A lot of farmers start with a Business Name and upgrade later.

The Birds Don’t Wait, and the Paperwork Shouldn’t Make Them

Day-old chicks arrive on a date that cannot move. Vaccines are due when they are due, feed has to be bought before the store runs low, and the egg crates need to be at the buyer by morning. When a farm runs on a schedule like that, a registration that takes an afternoon of portal-wrestling gets pushed down the list every time. Handing it to us means it gets done without touching a feeding round, and your farm ends up with a registered name to put on delivery notes, supplier accounts and bank forms.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for a poultry farm in Osun State? A Business Name is ₦35,500 all-inclusive, whichever Osun LGA your farm is in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.

What does the ₦35,500 cover? The name search and reservation, the filed CAC application, the government fee, a soft-copy Certificate of Registration, a TIN and a CAC Status Report.

How will I get my certificate? It is sent as a soft copy on WhatsApp. You print it locally whenever you need a hard copy.

Is a Business Name enough for a poultry farm? For most farmers who own and run their own operation, yes. Bigger or jointly owned farms may prefer a company.

Does CAC registration give me permission to rear birds or animals? No. It registers your business name only. Veterinary, state and land requirements are handled separately.

Does registering qualify me for state schemes like the broiler outgrower programme? Schemes set their own conditions, and registration is one document that may be asked for. Check what each one requires, as registering does not guarantee a place.

My farm is in a village. Which address do I use? Give the business address in Osun State where the business is based, such as the farm site or your home, along with its LGA.

Can I register a farm that keeps both broilers and layers under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for instance poultry farming and egg and bird sales.

What about hatcheries and day-old chicks? A hatchery business can be registered the same way. Hatchery operations may carry additional veterinary approvals that are separate from CAC.

Can pig, goat and cattle farmers register too? Yes. Describe the business as livestock farming and animal sales, and it is registered like any other.

I sell feed or veterinary drugs. Is that covered? The business name can be registered, but feed milling and drug sales can carry their own approvals, which are separate.

What are my veterinary and disease-reporting duties? They come from the veterinary authorities, not from CAC. Speak to the Ministry’s livestock and veterinary services about vaccinations, inspections and what to report.

Will restaurants, bakeries and hotels ask for the certificate? Bulk buyers often ask for proof of registration before ordering regularly, so it is a helpful document to hold. It does not guarantee any sale.

Is a poultry association the same as registering my business? No. Joining an association is a separate matter from registering your own business name, and you can do both.

Can I open a business account and get a loan with the certificate? It is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, alongside your ID. Loans are each lender’s own decision, and nothing here promises one.

Is the TIN included? Yes, a Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.

Do I need to file anything with CAC each year? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a short, separate task, and we can help when it falls due.

What if my first-choice name is already taken? Send a second or third choice and we will check it straight away. Backup names keep things moving.

Can one registration cover more than one farm site? The registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe it broadly. Approvals for each site may be separate, so confirm what every location needs.

Can I upgrade to a Limited Liability Company later, and when should I start as one? Yes, many farmers begin with a Business Name and convert as the flock grows or investors join, and we can help with that. Starting as a company from day one is worth considering if you are building a large operation, farming with partners or an investor requires it.
