Layers, broilers, hatcheries, turkeys, goats, pigs and cattle: livestock keeping is everyday business across Oyo State, and a farm that has outgrown the backyard usually needs a registered name sooner than its owner expects. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We take care of the name search, the filing and the certificate for poultry and livestock businesses anywhere in Oyo State, from Ibadan to Saki, so your attention stays on your birds and your stock. Message us your business name on WhatsApp and that is the last thing asked of you on the registration side. We carry it from there.

What Falls Outside This Registration
- Printed copies of your certificate. You receive a soft copy on WhatsApp and print it locally when you need it.
- Any farm registration or data capture the Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development asks poultry and livestock operators for. Check with the ministry or your local agriculture office for what applies to you.
- Animal-health requirements. Vaccination schedules, disease reporting and veterinary oversight are dealt with through your veterinarian and the state’s veterinary services.
- Federal livestock rules, including those of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, where they apply to your type of operation.
- Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service clearance if you import or export day-old chicks, hatching eggs or animal products.
- NAFDAC approval where it applies, for example if you package or process products such as dressed meat or branded eggs for sale.
- Environmental requirements for manure, farm waste, odour and water use, handled with the relevant state or federal environmental authorities.
- Land and site papers for the farm itself, including title documents and any local government or community approvals.
- Association membership, such as the Poultry Association of Nigeria’s Oyo State branch. That is optional and arranged with the association directly.
- State and federal tax obligations for your farm, over and above the TIN issued with your certificate.
- Opening a business bank account, done with your chosen bank once the certificate is in hand.
- Annual returns in later years. It is a small, separate step that we can also help with.
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Single-site poultry or livestock farms run by one owner or a family | Commercial hatcheries, large layer or broiler operations, and farms with partners or lenders |
If you farm on your own or with family and sell eggs, birds or animals to local buyers, a Business Name is usually enough. The company route earns its extra cost when the farm carries real borrowing, when several people share ownership, or when an investor or institutional buyer wants a company on the other side of the contract. Plenty of farmers start with a Business Name and convert later.

- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Oyo State, including the LGA
- A phone number and email address

The Registration Timeline
- Name check. We search CAC’s public portal to confirm your name is available.
- Name reservation. Once the name is clear, we reserve it.
- Application. We complete the filing using your business, owner and Oyo State address details.

- Your documents. Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, usually within 5–7 working days.
Your part in all this stops at sending the details and making one payment; the certificate reaches you without further chasing.
Oyo State’s Poultry Sector and Why a Registered Name Helps
Oyo State has a reputation in poultry well beyond its borders. The Edo State government has noted that its own farmers have often travelled to Ibadan to buy day-old birds and other inputs, which says a lot about where chick and input supply is concentrated in the South-West.
The state government has also made clear that it takes an interest in how the business is run. At a World Egg Day event in Ibadan, the state’s agriculture commissioner said the government wanted to regulate poultry farming so that the ministry would hold accurate data on poultry farmers and quality production could be assured. At the same event he announced a plan to distribute about 11,000 bags of poultry feed to 1,691 poultry farmers as relief after fuel subsidy removal. The chairman of the Oyo branch of the Poultry Association of Nigeria said the association would work with the ministry to curb quackery in the business. Later, the state began handing out maize to the same number of poultry farmers under its Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery programme, aimed at easing the cost of feed.
Support schemes like these depend on knowing who the farmers are. A business that trades under a registered name is easier to identify, to verify and to deal with. To be clear, none of the reports we reviewed say a CAC certificate is a condition for such support, so always check the terms of any scheme you apply to. What registration does give you is a recognised legal name for your farm, which is the usual starting point for ministry records, association paperwork, bank accounts and buyer contracts.
Registering Poultry and Livestock Businesses Across Oyo State
The price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever your farm is located. We register poultry and livestock businesses across the state, including in the areas below.
Ibadan, the state capital
- Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-East and Ibadan South-West — egg distributors, live-bird sellers, hatchery offices and farms in and around the city
Ibadan’s outskirts
- Akinyele, Egbeda, Lagelu, Ido, Oluyole and Lalupon — farms on the edge of the city and along the roads leading out of it
Oyo town and its neighbours
- Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba, Afijio and Fiditi — poultry, goat and mixed livestock farms around the historic town
Ogbomosho and its surroundings
- Ogbomosho North, Ogbomosho South, Surulere, Ogo Oluwa and Ori Ire — farmers selling into one of the state’s busiest trading towns
Ibarapa
- Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, Igbo-Ora and Orita-Eruwa — farm-belt communities in the west of the state
Oke-Ogun and the northern savanna
- Saki East, Saki West, Iseyin, Okeho, Igboho, Igbeti and Kisi — livestock country in the north, including cattle and small-ruminant keepers
- Atisbo, Irepo, Iwajowa, Itesiwaju, Kajola, Olorunsogo, Orelope and Ago-Are — smaller towns and rural areas across the same northern belt
If your farm is anywhere else in Oyo State, including Alapa, you are covered too.
A Flock Keeps Its Own Calendar
Anyone who has kept birds knows the clock never really stops: vaccination dates that cannot slip, feed arriving late, eggs collected at dawn, crates loaded for the market, and a generator working against the power cuts. A herd or a goat pen has its own routine of grazing, watering and buyers arriving at odd hours. None of that waits while you work through a government portal. Registration is the one job on your list that someone else can complete from start to finish. When it is done, your farm has a registered name for the receipts, the feed supplier’s invoice, the buyer’s purchase order and the bank form.
Is This Right for Your Business?
Before you decide, here’s an honest look at who gets the most from our service:
- You’d rather not wrestle with CAC’s portal between feed deliveries, vaccination days and loading crates for the market — you want the filing finished while the farm keeps running.
- You’re planning to grow from selling eggs and birds locally to supplying caterers, supermarkets or institutional buyers — or from layers into hatching, or from one house to a second site — and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want things kept simple — your details, one payment, your certificate.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a poultry or livestock farm in Oyo State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Oyo State your farm is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a poultry farm? For most owner-run farms, yes. It gives you a legal name and registration to trade under. Farm-specific approvals, such as animal-health and environmental requirements, are separate matters.
I’m still setting up my farm. Can I register before the pens are built? You need a business address in Oyo State and its LGA for the application. If the site is not final, send the address you plan to use.
My farm is in a village far from Ibadan. Can I still register? Yes. We register businesses in all parts of the state, at the same price and turnaround, and everything is done remotely over WhatsApp.
Does CAC registration replace approvals from the state ministry or my veterinarian? No. CAC registration gives your farm a registered name. Ministry requirements and veterinary oversight are separate, so check with the relevant office for what applies to you.
Do I have to join the Poultry Association of Nigeria? Membership is handled with the association itself and is separate from CAC. Many farmers find a registered business name useful when they apply, so it makes sense to register first.
Can I register layers, broilers and a hatchery under one business name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as “poultry farming, hatchery and sale of eggs and birds”. Separate approvals for the hatchery may still apply.
Does the same registration cover piggery, goats or cattle? Yes. A livestock business can be registered the same way as a poultry farm, with the nature of business described to match.
Can I include egg distribution or live-bird sales under the same name? Yes, as long as you describe the business broadly when you apply. If you package or process products for sale, other approvals such as NAFDAC’s may apply.
Will a CAC certificate help me get a loan or farm support? Banks and agricultural lenders commonly ask for proof of registration, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee a loan or any support, and each scheme sets its own conditions.
Will it help me supply hotels, supermarkets or caterers? Organisations that buy in volume often ask a supplier for proof of registration. The certificate helps with that request, but it does not guarantee any order.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step that we can help with when it falls due.
What if my first business name is not available? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many farms start with a Business Name and convert once the operation grows or partners join. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start as a Limited Liability Company? If you are building a large commercial operation, sharing ownership with partners, taking on significant borrowing, or an investor or buyer requires a company, the company route is worth considering from day one.
Do you register farms outside Ibadan, such as in Ogbomosho, Saki or Iseyin? Yes. We register poultry and livestock businesses across all of Oyo State at the same price and turnaround.
