Running livestock means answering to animals that keep their own schedule: feeding times, vaccination rounds, eggs to collect and stock to sell before the weekend market. A registered business name gives that work a proper footing with feed suppliers, buyers and banks. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent, and we handle the filing for poultry farms and other livestock businesses anywhere in Plateau State: the name search, the application and the certificate. A Business Name registration costs ₦35,500, with the CAC filing fee and our service fee both included.
It really is this simple: send us your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll handle everything else.

What Your ₦35,500 Covers
Everything below is settled by that single payment. CAC’s filing fee and our service fee are included, so no extra charge appears later. A Limited Liability Company is available at ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- Checking that your chosen business name is available
- Reserving the name once it clears
- Completing and submitting the CAC Business Name application
- The CAC government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration, as a soft copy
- A Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
What Falls Outside This Registration
A CAC certificate gives your livestock business a legal name. It does not approve any animal-health, slaughter or processing activity, and these matters are handled separately.
- Printed copies of your certificate. We send a soft copy on WhatsApp, and you can print it at any business centre.
- Veterinary drugs and animal-health services. If you sell veterinary products or offer treatment, these are regulated separately, so check with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria.
- Slaughter, meat hygiene and sale of meat, which fall to the state and local health and veterinary authorities. Ask them what applies to your operation.
- NAFDAC registration for processed or packaged products such as milk, cheese or packed meat.
- Health or movement certificates, where they are required when you transport live animals between locations.
- Land for your pens, ranch or feedlot, and any arrangement to use grazing or government-managed land, which you settle with the landowner or the relevant government authority.
- Manure, waste and odour requirements for the premises, including whatever the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency asks of operators.
- State and federal tax obligations that apply to your sales and income.
- Opening a business bank account, which you do with your chosen bank once your certificate is in hand.
- Annual returns with CAC in later years, a small separate step we can help with when it falls due.
Business Name or Limited Liability Company for a Livestock Business
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Individual poultry and livestock farmers, feed sellers and traders | Hatcheries, feedlots and feed mills with several owners, and investor-backed ventures |
For an owner-run poultry farm or small livestock business, a Business Name does the job: it gives you a legal name for invoices, buyer dealings and a bank account at the lowest cost. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering when ownership is shared, when you are building something capital-heavy such as a hatchery, feed mill or feedlot, or when an investor or large buyer expects a company structure. You can start with a Business Name and convert later.
Documents to Have Ready
- Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
- A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Plateau State, with the LGA
- A phone number and email address
- Nature of business, described simply — for example “poultry farming and sale of eggs and livestock”
- If you choose a Limited Liability Company instead: names, ID and details of the directors and shareholders
The Registration Timeline
- Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal — we handle this for you.
- Reserve the name once availability is confirmed.
- Complete the application with your business, owner and Plateau State address details.
- Upload your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone photo is enough.
- Pay the ₦35,500 filing fee, one payment covering everything above.
- Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.
Six steps, and only two of them involve you — everything else runs on our end.
Plateau’s Veterinary Heritage and the Push for a Livestock Hub
Few states have a livestock pedigree like Plateau’s. At a livestock stakeholders’ meeting in Jos on 15 June 2026, the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, described the state as a historic centre of livestock innovation and veterinary excellence. He pointed to the National Veterinary Research Institute and the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, both at Vom, as institutions that have made Plateau the country’s livestock knowledge capital for more than a century. The federal roadmap he outlined covered ranching, dairy production, grazing reserve rehabilitation and the development of feedlots for cattle, sheep, goat and pig fattening.
The state’s poultry trade has its own story. A 2024 Daily Trust report found that only a handful of farms in Plateau run working hatcheries, and the state’s poultry farmers’ association said about nine in ten poultry farmers bought their day-old chicks from Ibadan in Oyo State. For anyone thinking about hatching, breeding or supplying feed locally, that points to real demand for well-organised, properly named businesses.
The programmes and roadmaps have their own eligibility rules, and a CAC certificate does not guarantee a place in any of them. What it does is give your farm a registered name to deal under, whether you are buying feed in bulk, selling eggs to a hotel or approaching a buyer who wants an invoice.
Registering Livestock Businesses Across Plateau State
The price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever your pens are.
| Area | LGAs and towns | What is happening there |
|---|---|---|
| Jos and the Vom–Bukuru axis | Jos North, Jos South, Jos East, Bukuru, Vom | A base for poultry around the city, and home to the veterinary institutions at Vom |
| Livestock country | Wase, Kanam, Dengi, Shendam, Mikang, Yelwa, Langtang North, Langtang South | Wase in particular leans toward livestock; farms here range across the southern and eastern parts of the state |
| Mixed farming, north and centre | Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, Mangu, Panyam, Riyom, Bassa, Pankshin, Kanke, Kwolla, Amper | Livestock kept alongside crops on mixed farms |
A pen in a small town is registered the same way as a large poultry house in Jos. If your livestock business is anywhere in Plateau State, it is covered.
Between Feeding Rounds
An animal business runs on a clock that does not bend. Chicks arrive and have to be brooded through the cool nights, feed has to be mixed or delivered, vaccination rounds fall due, eggs are collected and sold, and stock has to reach the market on the right day. There is rarely a quiet hour to sit with a government portal. Registration is one task you can hand over entirely. When it is done, your farm has a registered name for its invoices and bank paperwork, and the paperwork a buyer, supplier or bank asks for is already in your hands.
Is This Right for Your Business?
Before you decide, here’s an honest look at who gets the most from our service:
- You’d rather be at the pens at feeding time, mid-vaccination round or collecting eggs than at a screen — when the animals run on a schedule that won’t bend, you want the paperwork finished without a missed feed.
- You’re thinking beyond your own pens — supplying eggs or meat to hotels and restaurants, adding a hatchery or feed-mixing side, or looking at feedlot and dairy projects — and you want a registered name to go with it.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a poultry or livestock farm in Plateau State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Plateau State your farm is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a poultry farm? For most owner-run farms, yes. It gives you a legal name for invoices, buyer dealings and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering later if you take on partners or build larger operations.
Can I register poultry, cattle, goats and pigs under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example “livestock farming and sale of livestock and animal products”, and one registration covers it.
Can I add a hatchery or feed-selling side to the farm? Yes. List them in your nature of business along with your other activities.
I trade in livestock and keep no animals myself. Can I register? Yes. Describe the nature of business as livestock trading, and use the address you operate from.
Does CAC registration cover veterinary or animal-health approvals? No. Veterinary drugs, treatment services and similar activities are regulated separately, and you handle them with the relevant body.
Does it cover slaughter or meat-sale approvals? No. Those fall to the state and local health and veterinary authorities, so confirm what applies to you.
Will the certificate get me into government livestock programmes? Programmes set their own eligibility rules, and a certificate does not guarantee participation. It is a useful document to hold, because registered businesses are easier to deal with than unregistered ones.
Will it help me sell eggs or meat to hotels, restaurants or institutions? Larger buyers often ask for proof of registration before regular orders, so the certificate is a useful document. It does not guarantee any sale.
Is the price different in Wase or Bokkos than in Jos? No. The cost and turnaround are the same across every LGA in Plateau State.
I keep a small backyard flock. Can I register? Yes. A small operation is registered like any other farm business.
My farm is in a rural area with no street address. Can I register? Yes. Send the best address you have, with the nearest town or landmark and the LGA.
Can I register more than one farm site under one business name? One registration covers your business as a whole. Matters tied to a specific piece of land, such as any local permits, are handled for each site.
Do I need to say how many animals I keep? No. The application asks about the nature of your business, not the size of your flock or herd.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help with it when the time comes.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many farms start with a Business Name and convert once they add partners, a hatchery or investors. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are building a hatchery, feed mill or feedlot, sharing ownership with partners, or an investor requires a company structure, that route is worth considering from day one.
How will I receive my certificate? As a soft copy sent to you on WhatsApp. You can print it locally whenever you need a hard copy.
