From amala joints and bukas in Ibadan to caterers feeding wedding guests in Ogbomoso and canteens serving offices and campuses across the state, food is one of the busiest trades in Oyo State. If you run a restaurant, a kitchen or a catering service, a registered business name is usually the first thing clients, landlords and banks ask to see. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We search the name, file the application and deliver your certificate for restaurants and catering businesses anywhere in Oyo State, for โฆ35,500 all-inclusive. There’s no extra step hiding behind this: message us your business name, and we take it from there.

Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
You pay one price. CAC’s filing fee and our service fee are both inside the โฆ35,500, so nothing gets added afterwards. If you would rather start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is โฆ65,500, also all-inclusive.
- A check that your chosen business name is available
- Reservation of the name once it clears
- Preparation and filing of your CAC Business Name application
- CAC’s government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration, as a soft copy
- A Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing the business as active on the public register
Outside the Scope of This Registration
Running a food business involves approvals beyond CAC. These are handled separately:
- Printed copies of your certificate, which we send as a soft copy for you to print locally
- Certification and inspection of your premises under the Oyo State Ministry of Health, through its Directorate of Food, Water and Laboratory Services
- Medical fitness and food-handler hygiene requirements for your kitchen and serving staff, where they apply
- NAFDAC requirements if you package and sell processed foods, sauces, snacks or drinks
- Registration with an accredited waste contractor and compliance with Oyo State environmental rules on refuse
- Planning, building and fire-safety approvals for your premises, especially if you operate from a converted house or a shop
- Liquor licences if you serve alcohol, and music licences if you play recorded music for customers
- State signage and advertisement permits for outdoor boards and banners
- Local government levies and any state or federal tax obligations that apply to your sales
- Opening a business bank account, done with your bank once the certificate is in hand
- Annual returns in later years, a small separate step we can help with when it falls due
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost, all-inclusive | โฆ35,500 | โฆ65,500 |
| Your own assets kept apart | No | Yes, the company is its own legal entity |
| Documents you receive | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Usually suits | Single restaurants, bukas, small caterers and owner-run kitchens | Multi-outlet operators, firms with partners or investors, large catering firms |
A Business Name usually covers a restaurant or caterer who owns and runs the business, serves walk-in customers and event clients, and needs a legal name for invoices, supplier accounts and a business bank account. A company structure makes more sense once you open several outlets, share ownership with partners, bring in investors, or begin taking on large corporate or institutional catering. Many food businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow.
Food Safety Oversight in Oyo State
Restaurants and caterers in Oyo State are subject to a food safety regime that has been getting more attention. In March 2024, the Commissioner for Health said the state’s Directorate of Food, Water and Laboratory Services is responsible for regulating food business operations and planned to step up the monitoring and inspection of food business premises. At the same forum the state inaugurated a Food Safety Compliance Enforcement Task Force, whose members include the Nigeria Police Force, the Association of Table Water Producers and the Association of Canteen Workers, and the directorate’s head set out the basic requirements food-chain actors must meet to be certified. In the same announcement the state banned styrofoam for packaging food.
Enforcement has not always kept pace. A 2025 study of 600 street food vending sites across the state’s senatorial zones found that about 86% had never been inspected by the authorities, and it recommended registering vending sites so they can be monitored properly. That points towards more inspection and certification of food businesses over time, so it pays to be ready.
CAC registration is not a food-safety certificate and does not approve your kitchen. It gives your business a registered name, which is the identity you will use when you deal with inspectors, landlords, suppliers and clients.
Before the First Customer Arrives
Your day starts before anyone else’s. You are at the market for ingredients early, checking the gas, getting the pots on, and sorting out the staff who didn’t turn up, all before the lunch rush hits. If you cater events, the next hours are spent on headcounts, delivery vans and a client who wants the menu changed the night before. There is very little room in that routine for CAC’s portal. Registering the business is a job you can hand over completely. When a landlord, caterer’s client or bank asks for proof of registration, your certificate is already on your phone.

This Might Be a Great Fit If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent โ this is who we serve best:
- You’re at the market for ingredients at dawn, then at the stove through the lunch rush, and an online government portal has no place in that day.
- You’re growing from one kitchen towards a second outlet, a catering arm for weddings and corporate lunches, or packaged food, and you want a registered name to build that on.
- You prefer being told what you actually need โ if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want one message to actually mean one message โ no chasing documents back and forth, no surprise extra fees once you’ve paid.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a restaurant or catering business in Oyo State? โฆ35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, wherever in Oyo State you operate. A Limited Liability Company is โฆ65,500, also all-inclusive.
What do I get for the โฆ35,500? The name search and reservation, the filing of your application, CAC’s government fee, a soft-copy Certificate of Registration, a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
How long does it take? Usually 5โ7 working days once your details and payment are in.
Is a Business Name enough for a restaurant or caterer? For most owner-run restaurants, bukas and small caterers, yes. Multi-outlet operators or businesses with partners and investors may prefer a Limited Liability Company.
Does CAC registration give me permission to cook and sell food? No. It registers your business name. Food-safety certification, health requirements and other approvals are separate and depend on how you operate.
What does food safety oversight in Oyo State involve? The state Ministry of Health regulates food businesses through its Directorate of Food, Water and Laboratory Services, and a food safety enforcement task force was inaugurated in 2024. Styrofoam for food packaging was banned at the same time. Confirm the current requirements for your premises with the relevant state authorities.
I run a buka or a mobile food stall with no fixed shop. Can I register? Yes. You still need a business address in Oyo State, with the LGA, so use your home or base address, or the place you operate from.
I only cater for events. Is the registration the same? Yes. Describe the business as event catering or food services, and the same Business Name registration applies.
Can a restaurant, a small-chops line and a bakery counter go under one name? Yes. Describe the business broadly, such as “restaurant, catering and food services”. Some products, such as packaged foods, may need their own approvals.
I want to serve alcohol. What else do I need? A liquor licence is separate from CAC registration and should be arranged for your premises. Check the requirements with the relevant authorities before you start serving.
I plan to package and sell food products. Do I need more than a CAC certificate? Packaged foods generally involve NAFDAC requirements, which are handled separately. CAC registration gives you the registered business name those applications build on.
I don’t have a shop or kitchen yet. What address do I use? You need a business address in Oyo State, with the LGA, to file. Use the place you operate from, or plan to use, and send it with your names.
Do you register businesses outside Ibadan? Yes. We register restaurants and catering businesses across Oyo State, from Oyo town, Ogbomoso and Saki to Iseyin and Ibarapa, at the same price and turnaround.
Will a certificate help me win office, school or corporate catering contracts? Organisations often ask for proof of registration before awarding lunch or event contracts. A certificate is a useful document to have, but it does not guarantee any contract.
Is the certificate enough to bid for institutional catering tenders? It is one of the documents usually requested, though tenders often require more, such as tax documents and health approvals. Those are handled separately.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. It is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you get for the โฆ35,500.
What if my first-choice name is taken? Send another and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
How do I receive my certificate? As a soft copy on WhatsApp. Print it locally whenever you need a hard copy.
When does a Limited Liability Company make sense for a food business? If you are opening several outlets, sharing ownership with partners, or an investor wants a company structure, a company may be worth considering from day one.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many restaurants and caterers begin with a Business Name and convert as they grow. We can assist with the conversion.
Do I need to file anything with CAC after registration? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step, and we can help with it when it falls due.
Hungry customers are waiting, and the certificate shouldn’t be. Send your business name on WhatsApp โ
