A broken-down car doesn’t care about your schedule, and neither does the customer standing beside it. If you run a garage, repair vehicles on call or operate a tow truck in Nasarawa State, you already know the work arrives in the middle of everything else. Putting the business under a registered name is the one piece of paperwork you can hand to someone else. Onelove Business Ventures, an accredited CAC agent, deals with the whole registration for you, from a roadside workshop in Karu to a tow-truck yard in Lafia. There’s no extra step hiding behind this: message us your business name, and we take it from there.

Where the Traffic Runs, the Workshops Follow
Much of Nasarawa State’s vehicle traffic funnels through one corridor. The greater Karu urban area is a conurbation of towns and villages along the Keffi–Abuja expressway, including Mararaba, Ado, Masaka and New Karu, and further north the Keffi–Akwanga expressway carries traffic on towards the state’s northern LGAs. In March 2026, contractors on the Mararaba–Keffi road told reporters the 43.65-kilometre reconstruction and expansion project was dealing with heavy traffic around Mararaba. That is the kind of road where breakdowns happen, and where garages, auto electricians and tow operators are never short of calls.
Towing in particular has a formal side. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) publishes a standard operating procedure for towing, and it says privately owned tow trucks engaged by an FRSC command must be registered, roadworthy and carry at least third-party insurance. The corps also keeps a list of private tow operators with their addresses, phone numbers and price schedules. The procedure speaks about the vehicle and its papers and does not make a CAC certificate a condition, so registration here does not replace anything FRSC asks. What a registered name does give you is a proper business identity to put on your invoices, your price list and your dealings with customers, fleet owners and banks.

Separate From This Registration
CAC registration gives your garage or towing business its legal name. These items sit outside it and depend on what you do:
- Printed copies of your certificate (you receive a soft copy and can print it locally)
- Registration, licensing and insurance for tow trucks and recovery vehicles, including at least third-party cover and roadworthiness
- Arrangements to work with an FRSC command or any state traffic agency as a private tow operator, which you make with them directly
- Workshop premises: land or lease documents, local government permits and any signage approvals
- Fire-safety measures for premises that hold fuel, solvents or spray booths
- Used-oil, battery, tyre and paint-waste disposal, which can involve environmental agencies such as NESREA and the state environmental agency
- Trade-test certificates or other skills qualifications, if customers or employers ask for them
- Membership of a mechanics’ association or union, where your market or workshop cluster has one
- Tax obligations that apply to your kind of business
- A business bank account, which you open with the bank of your choice after the certificate arrives
- Yearly CAC annual returns, a modest separate task we can take on for you when it falls due

- A hold on the name while the application is prepared

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Total price, all-inclusive | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal assets kept apart from the business | No | Yes |
| What arrives | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| A good match for | One-owner garages, mobile mechanics and single-truck tow operators | Multi-bay garages, towing fleets, and businesses with partners or financiers |
If you own the workshop or the truck yourself and need a registered name for your invoices, customer receipts and bank account, a Business Name will do the job. A company starts to make sense when several partners share the garage, when you put money into a fleet of tow trucks, or when a lender or fleet customer wants a company on the other side of the contract. Plenty of workshops start with a Business Name and convert later.
Registering Auto Businesses Across All 13 LGAs
Wherever your workshop or yard is in the state, the cost, the paperwork and the timeline stay the same. We register in every LGA, grouped below by the roads and areas you probably know.

- Keffi — workshops and recovery services on the main road through the town
- Akwanga — mechanics and tow operators along the Keffi–Akwanga expressway
Lafia and the southern LGAs
- Lafia — the state capital, with garages, panel beaters and parts-and-repair workshops

If your garage, workshop or tow yard is anywhere in Nasarawa State, we can register it.

Hands in the Engine, Not in the Paperwork
A workshop day is hard to schedule. The bonnet is up, a customer is waiting beside the car, a part has to be fetched across town, and a call comes in about a breakdown on the highway just as you’re closing. Nobody finishes that kind of day with the energy to work through an online portal. Registration is one job you can cross off completely. Once it’s done, your garage or towing business works under a registered name that can appear on your receipts, your job cards, your price list and your bank paperwork.
A Good Match If…
Before you decide, here’s an honest look at who gets the most from our service:
- You’d rather not wash the grease off just to fill in CAC’s portal — with a car up on the jack, a tow call coming in at night or a parts run waiting on you.
- You’re aiming to grow from one workshop into a bigger garage, a mobile-mechanic service or a tow-and-recovery truck, perhaps serving fleet owners and transport companies, and you want a registered name behind you.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want things kept simple — your details, one payment, your certificate.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a garage in Nasarawa State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, in every LGA. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name check and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, a soft-copy Certificate of Registration, your TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a garage or mechanic workshop? For most owner-run workshops, yes. It gives you the registered name for invoices, receipts and banking. A company is worth considering once partners, lenders or a bigger build come in.
I work as a mobile mechanic and have no workshop yet. Can I still register? Yes. The application needs a business address in Nasarawa State and its LGA, which can be where you operate from. Send us the address you plan to use.
Can auto electricians, panel beaters and tyre specialists register too? Yes, and so can truck mechanics, motorcycle and keke repairers and AC specialists. Describe the work in plain words.
Can a garage and a towing service go under one name? Yes. Describe the business broadly, for example “auto mechanic, repair and towing services”.
Can I sell spare parts from the garage under the same registration? Yes, include it in your description of the business. If you stock or import particular parts, check whether any product requirements apply.
Does the registration cover my tow truck’s registration or insurance? No. Registration, licensing, roadworthiness and insurance for your vehicles are separate matters.
Will the certificate let me work with FRSC as a private tow operator? No. FRSC’s published towing procedure sets its own conditions for private trucks it engages, and any arrangement is made with your local command. The certificate gives the business its registered name only.
Do I need a trade-test certificate to register? No. CAC registration doesn’t ask for one. Some customers and employers may, so keep your qualifications handy.
What about waste oil, old batteries and tyres? Disposal and environmental requirements for a workshop are separate from CAC. Check the current rules with the relevant environmental agencies.
Do I need permits for my workshop premises? Premises approvals, such as local government permits and signage, are separate from CAC registration.
Do you register businesses in every Nasarawa LGA? Yes, all 13, from Karu, Keffi and Akwanga to Doma, Toto and Wamba, on the same terms.
Can two or more of us own the garage? A Business Name is built around one owner. If the workshop has co-owners, let us know and we’ll tell you whether a company is the better fit.
Will a CAC certificate help me win fleet or company jobs? Companies and transport operators often ask for proof of registration before giving regular work, so the certificate is useful to hold. It doesn’t guarantee any job.
Will a bank accept the certificate for a garage account? Yes. It’s normally the first document a bank asks for, together with your identification.
Does the TIN cost extra? No, it’s included in the ₦35,500.
Do I have ongoing CAC obligations after registration? Yes. Annual returns fall due every year. They’re handled separately from this registration, and we’re able to do them for you later.
What happens if my preferred name is already registered? Give us an alternative and we’ll run it through the search immediately. A second and third option on hand saves time.
Can I switch to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes, and we can assist with that. A company from day one makes sense for larger garages, towing fleets, or businesses with several owners or investors.
