What Your ₦35,500 Covers
A single payment pays for everything below, with the CAC fee and our own fee rolled together. Starting as a Limited Liability Company instead costs ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- A name search to check the venue’s name is free to use
- The name reserved for your business
- Your Business Name application, prepared and lodged by us
- The CAC filing/processing fee
- Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- CAC Status Report showing the venue as active on the register
What Falls Outside This Registration
A CAC certificate gives your venue its legal name. The permissions that let a bar actually trade are separate:
- Hard copies of your certificate, which you print yourself from the soft copy
- Your liquor licence from the local government council, which is separate from CAC and can differ from one LGA to another
- Licences to play recorded or live music and show films in public, which typically come through the Nigerian Copyright Commission and its approved collecting societies
- Premises approvals: lease or ownership papers, building and land-use permits, and signage approvals
- Fire-safety, noise and environmental requirements for a venue that hosts crowds and amplified sound
- Food-handling and hygiene approvals if you run a kitchen or sell food
- State and local government taxes and levies that apply to bars and entertainment businesses
- Any security arrangements and local clearances your area expects for late-night venues
- A business bank account, opened with your own bank once the certificate is in hand
- CAC annual returns in later years, a small, separate step that we can help with when it falls due
Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Total price, all-inclusive | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Separates your personal assets from the venue | No | Yes |
| Documents you receive | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best suited to | Owner-run bars, small lounges, games joints and viewing centres | Larger clubs and lounges, multi-outlet operators, and venues with partners or investors |
If you own and run the bar yourself and want a registered name for your supplier accounts, receipts and bank, a Business Name will do the job. A company becomes the better choice when partners put money into the venue, when you open more than one outlet, or when you want the business to stand apart from your own assets, which matters more in a trade where crowds, equipment and late hours raise the stakes. Plenty of bar owners begin with a Business Name and upgrade as the venue grows.
Documents to Have Ready
- Two business names you’d like, preferred one first
- A valid ID: National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Where the venue is: its address in Nasarawa State and the LGA
- Your phone number and email address
- A short note on what the venue does, such as “bar and lounge” or “nightclub and entertainment centre”
- If you’d rather register a Limited Liability Company: the names, ID and details of each director and shareholder
The Registration Timeline
- Availability: we look the name up on CAC’s search portal.
- Reservation: if it’s free, we reserve it for you.
- Filing: we fill in the application with the venue’s details, yours, and its Nasarawa address.
- Documents: you upload your ID and passport photograph, and a quick phone snap is enough.
- Payment: the ₦35,500 filing fee, paid once, covers everything above.
- Delivery: your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, typically within 5–7 working days.
Your part ends with sending the details and paying once; the filing, the follow-up and the certificate are ours to deal with.
In Nasarawa, Your Liquor Licence Comes From the Local Government
Liquor licensing in Nasarawa State is handled at local government level, so the rules can differ from one council to the next. A published legal summary of Karu LGA’s Liquor Licensing Bye-Law (No. 2) of 2018, gazetted in the Nasarawa State Gazette in November 2018, shows how detailed they can be. According to that summary, selling liquor in Karu without a licence is an offence, and a licence is tied to the premises and cannot be passed to someone else. It expires on 31 December each year and must be renewed annually. The bye-law lists licence classes including tavern, wine and beer on-licence, hotel, club and restaurant/bar, and it restricts sales outside set hours, with exceptions for hotel residents and club members. It also bans sales at places such as schools, motor parks, markets, residential quarters, worship centres and hospitals, and lets council officials inspect licensed premises.
That summary was published in 2020 and last updated in 2023, so fees and details may have changed, and the other LGAs may have rules of their own. Check the current position with your council. A CAC certificate is not a liquor licence and does not replace one. What it does is give the licence application, and the rest of your paperwork, a registered business name to work from.
Registering Venues Across All 13 LGAs
Price, paperwork and turnaround stay the same wherever your venue is. We register in every Nasarawa LGA, and since each council sets its own liquor rules, it helps to confirm those with yours after registration.
The larger urban centres
- Karu — bars, lounges and clubs in the dense Mararaba–Masaka–New Karu belt
- Keffi — bars, viewing centres and entertainment venues in the town
- Lafia — the state capital, with lounges, clubs and games venues
Across the rest of the state
- Akwanga, Nasarawa Egon and Wamba — bars, viewing centres and joints in the northern LGAs
- Doma, Awe, Keana and Obi — beer parlours, lounges and open-air bars in the southern LGAs
- Kokona, Nasarawa and Toto — bars, games lounges and entertainment venues in the western LGAs
A bar, lounge or club anywhere in the state can be registered through us.
The Night Shift Doesn’t Leave Time for Paperwork
A bar’s week has a rhythm of its own: a crate delivery on a slow afternoon, a DJ’s soundcheck in the early evening, a quiet Tuesday followed by a packed Friday, and a closing routine that leaves you wide awake and the offices long shut. Between stock counts, staff schedules and a speaker that chose tonight to fail, sitting down with a registration portal is the last thing you’ll feel like doing. This is a job we can take from your list completely. When it’s done, your venue trades under a registered name that appears on supplier invoices, event bookings and bank paperwork.
Who This Service Suits Best
Not every registration service is the right match for every business owner, and that’s fine — here’s who tends to get the most out of working with us:
- You’re up late and asleep when the offices open — your mornings go on stock counts, supplier calls and catching up, not on CAC’s portal.
- You’re aiming to grow from one bar into a lounge with a kitchen, a second outlet or regular event nights, and you want a registered name for suppliers, landlords and event partners.
- You’d rather hear what fits your venue than what pays us more — if a Business Name covers you today, that’s what we’ll suggest.
- You want one message to actually mean one message — no chasing documents back and forth, no surprise extra fees once you’ve paid.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to register a bar or lounge in Nasarawa State? A Business Name is ₦35,500, all-inclusive, in any LGA. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, all-inclusive.
What am I paying for with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the application itself, CAC’s own fee, your certificate as a soft copy, a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Will a Business Name be enough for a bar? For most owner-run bars and lounges, yes. It gives the venue a registered name for suppliers, receipts and banking. A company is worth considering once partners, several outlets or heavier investment come in.
Does the certificate give me a liquor licence? No. A liquor licence comes from your local government council and is applied for separately from CAC.
Is liquor licensing done by the state or by the local government? In Nasarawa it is handled by local government councils, and the rules can differ from one LGA to another. Karu has a published bye-law of 2018. Confirm the current rules with your own council.
Will my council ask for CAC registration when I apply for a liquor licence? Requirements differ between councils. Many licensing applications ask for business documents, so it is sensible to register first and confirm exactly what your council wants.
Does the certificate set my opening and closing hours? No. Trading hours are set by the rules and licence conditions that apply to you. Check them with your council.
Can I register a bar, lounge and club together? Yes. Use a broad description, such as “bar, lounge and entertainment services”.
I run an open-air bar with no building. Can I register? Yes. The application needs an address in Nasarawa State with its LGA, which can be where the bar operates. Tell us the location.
What if the premises are rented? You can still register. The business address is what the application needs, and your lease is a separate matter between you and the landlord.
Are games lounges, viewing centres and sports bars covered? Yes, describe what you offer in plain words. Any permits for the venue itself are separate.
Do I need a licence to play music or show films? Public performance of music and films usually needs separate licences, typically through the Nigerian Copyright Commission and its approved collecting societies. That is separate from CAC registration.
Can I serve food at my bar? Yes, include it in your description of the business. Food-handling and hygiene approvals are separate.
Is an off-licence liquor store covered too? Yes, it can be registered as a business. The liquor licence for it, like any other, comes from the council.
Do you cover every LGA in the state? Yes, all 13, with one price and one timeline. Liquor rules, though, are set by each council.
What if a friend or partner co-owns the venue? A Business Name suits a single owner. If two or more people share the bar, tell us and we’ll say whether a company is the better fit.
Will the certificate help with suppliers, landlords or event partners? They often want proof that the business is registered, so it is a useful document. It doesn’t guarantee any deal or booking.
Will a bank take the certificate for the venue’s account? Yes. It is generally the first thing banks ask for, along with your ID.
Is the TIN billed separately? No, it’s part of the ₦35,500.
What does CAC require from me after registration? Annual returns, filed every year. They’re separate from this registration, and we can help when they’re due.
What if the name I want is already registered? Bar names tend to overlap, so have a few choices ready. Send us another and we’ll search it straight away.
Can I move up to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes, and we can help with the change. If you already know you’ll have several outlets, partners or investors, starting as a company is worth thinking about.
