Drinks businesses start early and finish late: fruit to wash and squeeze while it’s fresh, batches to cool, bottles to fill and label, and shops and customers waiting on supply. Whether you press juice in Lafia, brew zobo in Karu or run a water-and-drinks depot in Keffi, putting the business under a registered name is a job you can pass on. Onelove Business Ventures is a CAC-accredited agent that handles the whole registration. Send us your business name on WhatsApp; the searching, filing and follow-up all happen on our side.
Drinks in Nasarawa Come Under Close Watch
Beverage makers in Nasarawa trade under active regulatory attention. In October 2024, NAFDAC’s North-Central director met table water producers and master bakers in Lafia and warned that every manufacturer of regulated products must renew registration within the set period or face sanctions, including closure and prosecution. In 2025, the agency’s Lafia office shut a licensed water factory after inspectors found it producing several other brands that were not registered to it. In the MararabaβKaru belt, NAFDAC’s FCT directorate urged the local branch of the Association of Table Water Producers to use the agency’s digital registration system, and SON’s Nasarawa coordinator explained that SON certifies products while NAFDAC registers them. In November 2024, NAFDAC also raided wine shops around Mararaba Market, New Nyanya and Masaka over counterfeit drinks.
None of that is a reason to hold back. It is a reason to start with the paperwork in the right order. A CAC certificate is not a NAFDAC registration, and it does not make a product approved for sale. What it gives you is a registered business name, which is the identity you build the rest on and the name that typically appears on your supplier invoices and regulatory applications. Check NAFDAC’s current requirements for your product before you begin.

The Full Breakdown of Your β¦35,500
Everything below sits inside one payment, which already includes the CAC fee and ours. A Limited Liability Company, if you’d rather begin as one, is β¦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- A name search to confirm your chosen name is available
- Reservation of the name
- Your Business Name application, prepared and filed by us
- The CAC filing/processing fee
- Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- CAC Status Report showing the business as active on the register
Choosing Your Structure
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Total, all-inclusive | β¦35,500 | β¦65,500 |
| Personal assets kept apart from the business | No | Yes |
| What you get | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Often chosen by | Small juice makers, drink vendors, juice bars and single-owner depots | Packaged-drink and water producers, larger distributors, and businesses with partners or investors |
A Business Name is usually enough when you own the business, sell your own drinks and need a registered name for receipts, supplier accounts and a bank account. A company is worth considering when a packaged-drink business takes on partners, when equipment and stock represent real money you’d rather keep apart from your own, or when a financier asks for it. Plenty of drink makers start small under a Business Name and move up when volume grows.

- Delivery: your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, typically within 5β7 working days.
After the first message and one payment, the rest of the work, and the waiting, is ours.
Separate From This Registration
Your CAC certificate gives the business its legal name. The approvals that let you make and sell drinks are separate:
- Hard copies of your certificate, which you print from the soft copy
- NAFDAC registration of your production premises and of each packaged product, including renewals, which falls under NAFDAC’s own digital registration process
- SON certification where it applies to your product
- Your production premises: lease or ownership papers, building approvals and a layout that can pass inspection
- Water-source testing and treatment, where you produce or use water in your drinks
- Labels, packaging approvals and barcodes if you plan to sell through supermarkets
- Environmental requirements for waste and effluent, which can involve NESREA and state agencies
- Fire-safety arrangements and health checks for staff who handle drinks
- State and local government levies that apply to drink production and sales
- Tax obligations for your type of business
- A business bank account, which you open with the bank you choose once the certificate arrives
- Annual returns at CAC in later years, a separate and modest task that we can take on when it falls due

From the First Squeeze to the Last Delivery
A drinks business has a short clock. Fruit that arrives in the morning has to be processed that day, a hot afternoon sends customers to the cold shelf, and every crate has to be on its way before the shop closes. In between there’s cleaning, bottles to sort and a supplier who needs an answer now. Learning your way around a registration portal in that rhythm is a poor use of an hour. We can take that job off you completely. Once it’s done, your business sells under a registered name that appears on your invoices, your supplier accounts and the paperwork your bank asks for.
Is This Right for Your Business?
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so β here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’d rather not wait on CAC’s portal between a delivery of fruit that must be processed today, a batch cooling and bottles waiting to be filled.
- You’re aiming to move from selling at your gate and to neighbours toward supplying shops, schools or distributors, and maybe later a packaged range, and you want a registered name behind you.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size β not the biggest package by default.
- You want a process without back-and-forth β send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If any of that rings true, you’re likely a good match for how we work.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it cost to register a juice or drinks business in Nasarawa State? A Business Name is β¦35,500, all-inclusive, in any LGA. A Limited Liability Company is β¦65,500, all-inclusive.
What’s covered by the β¦35,500? The name search and reservation, the application, CAC’s own fee, your certificate as a soft copy, a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a juice or drinks business? For most owner-run businesses, yes. It gives you a registered name for sales, receipts and banking. A company is worth considering once partners, bigger production or outside funding come in.
Does the certificate let me sell packaged drinks? No. It registers the business name only. Packaged drinks and water are regulated separately, mainly by NAFDAC.
Do I need NAFDAC for juice, water or soft drinks? NAFDAC registration generally applies to packaged drinks, water and juice sold under a label. It is separate from CAC, so check the current requirements for your product.
Should I register with CAC before applying to NAFDAC? That’s the usual order, because product registration applications typically ask for proof of business registration. Confirm the current checklist with NAFDAC.
What does SON do, compared with NAFDAC? According to SON’s Nasarawa coordinator, SON certifies products while NAFDAC registers them. Which of them applies to you depends on your product.
I sell fresh juice from a stall or a juice bar. Can I register? Yes. Describe what you do in plain words. Any food-handling or premises approvals that apply are separate.
Can zobo, kunu and tigernut drink sellers register? Yes. Traditional drink makers are registered the same way as any other business.
Are soy milk and other soy drinks covered? Yes, describe them in your nature of business. Product approvals are handled separately.
What about sachet and bottled water? A water business can be registered like any other, but water production has its own NAFDAC registration, inspection and renewal rules.
Can I make juice and also distribute other drinks under one name? Yes. Describe the business broadly, for example “fruit juice production and drinks distribution”.
I don’t have a factory yet. Can I still register? Yes. The application needs a business address in Nasarawa State and its LGA. If you’re still setting up, send the address you plan to use.
Will my registered name go on my labels? It can, and many businesses use it. Labelling and packaging rules are set elsewhere and are not part of this registration.
Do you cover every LGA in Nasarawa State? Yes, all 13, at one price and one turnaround.
What if someone co-owns the business with me? A Business Name fits a sole owner. If two or more of you share it, tell us and we’ll advise whether a company suits better.
Will the certificate help me supply supermarkets, schools or hotels? Buyers like these often want proof that a supplier is registered, so it’s a useful document. It doesn’t guarantee any contract.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. It’s normally the first document a bank asks for, alongside your ID.
Is the TIN charged separately? No, it comes with the β¦35,500.
What does CAC expect from me each year? Annual returns. They are separate from this registration, and we can prepare them when they fall due.
What if the business name I want is taken? Drink names often overlap, so have a couple of alternatives ready. Send us the next choice and we’ll search it straight away.
Does a registered business name protect my drink brand? No. A business name is not the same as a trademark. Protecting a brand name is handled through the trademark process, which is separate.
Can I move to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes, and we can help with the change. If you already expect partners, investors or a packaged-drinks plant, starting as a company is worth considering.
