When a hotel, school, bank or shop in Ondo State needs cameras fitted, the question it usually asks first is who it can trust to do the job and still be around for the service call six months later. A registered name is part of the answer. It tells the client that the person fitting the cables is a business with a name, an address and a record, and not just a technician with a phone number. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever your security and safety business is based in Ondo State. Reach us on WhatsApp with your business name, and from that point we manage the filing, the follow-up and the certificate.

The CCTV Order That Changed Demand in Ondo State
Few states have given the security installation trade a clearer push than Ondo. In June 2022, the then governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, signed an Executive Order making it compulsory for owners, occupiers, managers and operators of public and private institutions in the state to install, use and maintain CCTV devices, with particular attention to monitoring people and vehicles entering and leaving a premises. The order also required installed systems to have data storage hardware, with the stored footage to be made available to security agencies when required, and it named the Nigeria Police, the NSCDC, the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) and the DSS as enforcers.
The state’s own announcement listed financial institutions, restaurants, hotels and other lodging, bars, nightclubs, educational institutions and places of worship among the premises expected to comply, with enforcement by Amotekun set to begin from 1 August 2022. The order also said violators would be prosecuted under Section 203 of the Criminal Code (Cap. 37) Laws of Ondo State.
For an installer, that means a ready list of clients who need cameras, recorders and sensible maintenance arrangements. It also means those clients will increasingly ask who they are dealing with. CAC registration doesn’t make you an approved installer, since no such licence is created by it, but it does give your business a legal identity to quote, invoice and sign service agreements under. Because the order dates from 2022, check the current enforcement position with the state government or Amotekun before you advise clients on it.

What’s Not Usually Included
Security work sits next to several rules that CAC registration does not cover:
- Printed copies of your certificate — you receive a soft copy and print it locally
- NSCDC licensing, if you also supply guards rather than only equipment and installation
- Standards and import requirements for cameras, recorders and electrical security equipment, including any SON requirements on imported products
- Fire-safety standards and approvals for fire alarm and extinguisher work
- Data-protection duties that can apply when you set up systems that record and store images of people, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023
- Any registration or pre-qualification that large institutions or government bodies require of their suppliers
- State and federal tax obligations for contractors and equipment sellers, including VAT where relevant
- Business bank account opening, done with your chosen bank once your certificate is ready
- Annual returns filing in later years — a small, separate step we can help with when it falls due
What’s Included in the ₦35,500
Your ₦35,500 is a single all-inclusive payment: CAC’s filing fee and our service fee are both built in. If you would rather start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Completion and submission of your CAC Business Name application
- CAC government filing/processing fee
- Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Independent installers, small equipment shops and one-crew service outfits | Firms with several crews, institutional supply contracts, partners or outside investors |
A Business Name suits most technicians and small shops starting up: it gives your work a legal name for quotations, invoices and a bank account. A company becomes worth considering when you take large installation contracts, run several crews, or share ownership. Many security businesses register a Business Name first and convert when the work calls for it.

Cables, Ladders and Call-Outs Don’t Wait for Paperwork
A security installer’s week rarely goes to plan: a site survey that runs long, a ladder and a cable run in the afternoon sun, a recorder that has to be configured and tested before the client leaves, an inverter that decides to fail on the day of handover, and a call-out that arrives at night. Learning CAC’s portal is not the thing to squeeze in between those. Handing it to us means the time goes to the work that earns your reputation, and when it’s done your business has a registered name to put on quotations, service agreements and the documents a client’s finance team asks for.
A Good Match If…
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’d rather not sit through CAC’s portal while a crew is pulling cable, a recorder is waiting to be configured, or a client’s call-out has just come in.
- You want to move from household installs to larger clients — banks, schools, hotels and restaurants that need systems fitted and serviced — and you want a registered name to quote and sign maintenance agreements under.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want things kept simple — your details, one payment, your certificate.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a CCTV or security business in Ondo State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same in every part of Ondo State. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a CCTV installer? For most independent installers and small equipment shops, yes. It gives you a legal name for quotations, invoices and a bank account. If you grow into larger contracts or take on partners, you can move to a company later.
When does a Limited Liability Company make more sense? When you run several crews, take large institutional contracts, share ownership or bring in investors. Otherwise a Business Name usually covers you for now.
Does CAC registration give me a licence to install security systems? No. CAC registration gives your business a legal name and a place on the public register. Sector-specific rules, where they apply, are handled separately.
Is CCTV compulsory in Ondo State? In June 2022 the state governor signed an Executive Order requiring public and private institutions to install and maintain CCTV, with enforcement by security agencies including Amotekun. Because that order is from 2022, check its current enforcement position with the state government or Amotekun.
Did the order say anything about recording and storing footage? Yes. It said installed systems must have data storage hardware and that stored footage should be made available to security agencies when required. This is a point worth explaining to clients when you quote.
Will the certificate help me supply banks, schools and hotels? Institutions often ask for proof of registration before awarding supply or installation work, so the certificate is a useful document. It does not guarantee any contract.
I also supply guards. Is that covered? Registration covers your business name only. Supplying guards is a different activity, and licensing with the NSCDC may apply. Check the current requirements before you start.
Do fire alarms and extinguishers need separate approvals? Fire-safety equipment is subject to its own standards and, in some cases, approvals. These are separate from CAC registration.
I import cameras and recorders. Is that covered by this registration? No. Imported electrical and security equipment can come with standards and customs requirements, including SON requirements, that sit outside CAC registration.
Do I need to think about data protection when I install cameras? Systems that record and store images of people can raise data-protection duties, such as those under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Check how it applies to your services.
Can I register an installation and equipment-sales business under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example “CCTV installation, security systems and equipment sales”.
I work from home and have no shop yet. Can I register? You need a business address in Ondo State and its LGA for the application. Send the address you plan to use.
Do you register businesses outside Akure? Yes. We register security and safety businesses in all 23 areas of Ondo State, from Owo and the Akoko areas to Okitipupa, Ilaje and Ese Odo, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when it falls due.
What if my first business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many installers start with a Business Name and convert once the work grows or partners join. We can assist with the conversion.
