Across Ondo State, a lot of homes, shops, schools and offices have stopped treating the public supply as their only source of power. Inverters, solar panels, batteries and generators now sit beside the meter, and the people who size, supply, install and service them are building real businesses. A registered name is one of the first things a customer, supplier or bank will ask you for. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever your power or solar business is based in Ondo State. The first move is small: tell us your business name on WhatsApp, and we take on everything that comes next.

Why Ondo’s Power Market Now Looks Different
Electricity in Ondo State is no longer regulated entirely from Abuja. After the Electricity Act 2023 allowed states to regulate their own intrastate electricity markets, NERC issued an order in April 2024 transferring regulatory oversight of Ondo’s electricity market to the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Bureau (OSERB), the state’s own regulator. NERC reported in January 2025 that the transfer for Ondo, along with Enugu, Ekiti and Imo, had been completed. One law-firm commentary on the reform notes that state regulators in this position are empowered to grant licences and set frameworks for mini-grids and independent distribution networks within their states.
For a solar or power business, this matters at the edges of your work. A technician fitting a system for a single customer is doing something different from a company that wants to sell power to several customers or build a mini-grid, and the second kind of activity is where state regulation is most likely to come in. Check with OSERB which rules apply to what you do. CAC registration is a different step. It gives your business a legal name and identity, which is typically what any licensing application, supplier account or contract will ask for first.

💰 Cost: ₦35,500 (All-Inclusive) ⏱️ Turnaround Time: 5 – 7 Working Days ✅ What You Get: Official CAC Certificate + Certified Status Report + TIN 🚚 Delivery: Soft Copy Sent via WhatsApp (Print Hard Copy Locally)
Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Individual installers, equipment shops and single-crew power contractors | Firms with several crews, larger project work, business partners or outside investors |
A Business Name fits most installers and equipment sellers starting out: it gives you a legal name for quotations, invoices and a bank account. A company starts to make sense when you take on large installations, build projects that need outside investment, or share ownership with partners. Many power and solar businesses begin with a Business Name and convert when the work grows.
What Your ₦35,500 Covers
One all-inclusive payment covers CAC’s filing fee and our service fee together, with nothing added later. If you would rather start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Completion and submission of your CAC Business Name application
- CAC government filing/processing fee
- Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
What Falls Outside This Registration
Power equipment sits next to several rules that CAC registration does not cover:
- Printed copies of your certificate — you receive a soft copy and print it locally
- Any licensing or permission from the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Bureau that your activity may need, particularly if you go beyond installing for individual customers into selling power or running a mini-grid
- Standards and import requirements for panels, inverters, batteries and other electrical equipment, including any SON requirements on imported products
- Engineering or professional registrations that may apply to certain kinds of electrical and power work
- Safe handling and disposal of used batteries and other equipment waste
- Any registration or pre-qualification that institutions, estates or government bodies require of their suppliers
- State and federal tax obligations for contractors and equipment sellers, including VAT where relevant
- Business bank account opening, done with your chosen bank once your certificate is ready
- Annual returns filing in later years — a small, separate step we can help with when it falls due
Documents to Have Ready
- Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
- A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Ondo State, with the LGA
- Phone number and email address
- A short description of what you do, e.g. “solar installation and power equipment sales” or “inverters, batteries and generator servicing”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders
The Registration Timeline
- We check name availability on CAC’s public search portal.
- We reserve the name once it is confirmed available.
- We complete the application with your business and address details.
- You upload your ID and passport photograph — a phone photo is enough.
- You pay the ₦35,500, one payment covering everything above.
- You receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.
Two things are asked of you — your details and one payment. The rest of the road to the certificate is ours to walk.

Sizing Systems, Waiting on Shipments, Fixing Faults
A solar and power business has a rhythm of its own: a site survey to measure the roof and list the customer’s appliances, a battery bank to size so the system lasts the night, a panel shipment that arrives a week late, an inverter that trips on the day of handover, and a customer who calls on Sunday because the lights went out. Between all of that, there is rarely a free hour for CAC’s portal. Handing it to us means your attention stays on load calculations and installations, and when it’s done your business has a registered name for quotations, equipment invoices, warranty documents and the forms that suppliers and banks send you.
Who This Service Suits Best
Not every registration service is the right match for every business owner, and that’s fine — here’s who tends to get the most out of working with us:
- You’d rather not learn CAC’s portal during a site survey, a roof installation or a day spent chasing a panel shipment.
- You’re heading from household systems toward bigger work — shops, schools, estates, solar street lights, or small shared-power projects — and you want a registered name to quote and invoice under.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a solar or power business in Ondo State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same in every part of Ondo State. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a solar installer or equipment seller? For most individual installers and small shops, yes. It gives you a legal name for quotations, invoices and a bank account. If your projects grow or partners join, you can move to a company later.
When does a Limited Liability Company make more sense? When you run several crews, take large installation or project work, share ownership, or bring in investors. Otherwise a Business Name usually covers you for now.
Does CAC registration let me generate or sell electricity? No. CAC registration gives your business a legal name and a place on the public register. Activities such as selling power or running a mini-grid fall under electricity regulation and are handled separately.
What changed with electricity regulation in Ondo State? Under the Electricity Act 2023, NERC transferred regulatory oversight of the intrastate electricity market in Ondo to the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Bureau (OSERB) in 2024, and reported the transfer complete in January 2025.
Do I need an OSERB licence to install solar systems? It depends on what you do. Fitting systems for individual customers is a different activity from selling power to several customers or running a mini-grid. Check with OSERB which rules apply to your activity.
Can I register installation and equipment sales under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example “solar installation, inverters, batteries and power equipment sales”.
I import panels, inverters and batteries. Is that covered? No. Imported electrical equipment can come with standards and customs requirements, including SON requirements, that sit outside CAC registration.
What about used batteries and old equipment? Batteries and electrical waste need careful handling and disposal. This is an environmental matter separate from your CAC registration.
Will the certificate help me win contracts with schools, estates and organisations? Institutions often ask for proof of registration before awarding supply or installation work, so the certificate is a useful document. It does not guarantee any contract.
Can I use it to bid for government or NGO projects? It is usually one of several documents required. Public bodies and organisations often have their own pre-qualification steps, which are separate from CAC. Check the requirements for each.
Do I need engineering registration to install solar systems? Some kinds of electrical and power work can come with professional or engineering registration requirements. Check what applies to your services.
Can a generator dealer or servicing workshop register the same way? Yes. Generator sales, repairs and servicing can be registered under a Business Name, with the nature of business described accordingly.
I haven’t rented a shop or workshop yet. Can I register? You need a business address in Ondo State and its LGA for the application. Send the address you plan to use.
Do you register businesses outside Akure? Yes. We register power and solar businesses in all 23 areas of Ondo State, from Owo and the Akoko areas to Okitipupa, Ilaje and Ese Odo, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when it falls due.
What if my first business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many installers start with a Business Name and convert once the work grows or partners join. We can assist with the conversion.
