Chemicals reach almost every corner of daily life in Taraba State: the fertiliser and pesticides farmers apply each season, the detergents and disinfectants used in homes, clinics and hostels, and the industrial and laboratory supplies that keep workshops, schools and water works running. If you sell, blend or distribute any of them, trading under a registered business name is an important first step towards doing it properly. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We take care of the name search, the CAC filing and the certificate for chemical businesses in every part of the state, so you can focus on your stock, your storage and your customers.

- A search confirming that your chosen business name is available
- Reservation of the name once it clears
- Completion and submission of your CAC Business Name application
- The CAC government filing/processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business is active on the public register
Separate From This Registration
Registering the name is the first step for a chemical business, and regulators care a great deal about this trade. These items are handled separately and are not part of the ₦35,500:
- Printed copies of your certificate, since you receive a soft copy and print it locally
- NAFDAC requirements for chemical, pesticide and agrochemical products, including product registration and any listing or accreditation NAFDAC requires of dealers and distributors
- NAFDAC permits and import documentation if you bring in bulk chemicals yourself, plus customs duties and clearing agent charges
- Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) requirements, where they apply to your products
- Authorisation for controlled or restricted chemicals, which may be required from federal authorities
- Safe storage, fire-safety and environmental requirements for your premises, including the handling and disposal of containers and waste
- Rules for transporting chemicals, including any vehicle and driver requirements
- Taraba State and local government levies, shop or market fees and any permits that apply to your premises
- State and federal tax obligations, including VAT where it applies
- Opening a business bank account, done with your chosen bank once the certificate is in hand
- Annual returns in later years, a small separate task we can also help with
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Agro-input shops, small chemical retailers and small-scale soap makers | Manufacturers, importers and bulk distributors, or businesses with partners or investors |
If you run a single shop and need a legal name for receipts, supplier accounts and a bank account, a Business Name is usually enough. If you plan to manufacture or import chemical products that need NAFDAC registration, ask NAFDAC what it requires and consider a Limited Liability Company from the start, because company registration is often expected for product registration. A company also keeps the business separate from your personal assets, which matters more in a trade that carries storage and safety risks. Many owners begin with a Business Name and upgrade as they grow.

- Reserve the name once it is confirmed available.

That’s genuinely the whole process from your side: one message, one payment, one certificate.
Farm Inputs, NAFDAC and the Case for a Registered Name
Farming is central to Taraba’s economy. Under a 2026 Renewed Hope programme, the Bank of Agriculture and Japtini Food & Retail Company began distributing fertilisers, agrochemicals and improved seedlings to more than 15,000 smallholder farmers in the state, with the flag-off held in Jalingo. Farmers in Takum have said that rising prices of fertilisers and agrochemicals are one of their biggest worries this season. All of that adds up to steady demand for the dealers and distributors who supply farm inputs.
It also puts the sector under close regulation. NAFDAC’s pesticide registration rules say that no pesticide may be manufactured, imported, sold, distributed or used in Nigeria unless it has been registered. NAFDAC has also said that sales of crop protection products should go through dealers it lists and accredits, so a dealer who stocks agrochemicals needs to check what listing applies. A registered business name does not replace any of that, but it is the starting point: it gives you a legal identity to put on your applications, supplier accounts and invoices. Always confirm the current requirements with NAFDAC before you stock or sell a regulated product.

Careful Work Behind the Counter, Simple Work for Us
A chemical business runs on care. Drums and sacks must be received and counted, containers labelled correctly, stock kept in the right place and customers advised properly on what to buy and how to handle it. That is skilled, responsible work, and it already fills the day. Registering the business name is the one job on the list that does not need your attention. Leave it to us, and your business will have a registered name for supplier accounts, invoices and the applications you will make to the regulators who matter in your trade.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
Before you decide, here’s an honest look at who gets the most from our service:
- You’d rather not break off from receiving a delivery, labelling stock or advising a farmer to fight with CAC’s portal — safe storage and accurate stock records already fill the day.
- You’re heading from selling small packs over the counter to supplying farms, cooperatives, institutions or other shops, or adding fertiliser, cleaning products or laboratory supplies to your range — and you want a registered name ready before bigger buyers ask for it.
- You’d like to be told honestly where a Business Name stops being enough — and if you plan to manufacture or import chemical products yourself, we’ll say so early rather than sell you the cheaper option for the wrong reason.
- You want the price settled before you start — one all-inclusive ₦35,500 payment, with no extra fees to follow.
If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a chemical business in Taraba State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same in every LGA. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
How long does it take, and how do I receive the certificate? Usually 5–7 working days. We send the soft copy to you on WhatsApp, and you print it locally.
Is a Business Name enough for a chemical shop? For an owner-run shop or small retailer, usually yes. It gives you a legal name for receipts, supplier accounts and banking. Product registration, permits and safety rules are separate matters.
When should a chemical business start as a Limited Liability Company, and can I upgrade later? Consider a company from day one if you plan to manufacture or import products that need NAFDAC registration, or if you have partners or investors. Otherwise you can start with a Business Name and convert later; we can help with that.
Does CAC registration let me sell chemicals or agrochemicals? No. CAC registration gives you a registered business name only. NAFDAC and other regulators set the rules for the products themselves, so check their current requirements before you stock or sell.
Do I need to be a NAFDAC-listed agro-input dealer? NAFDAC has said sales of crop protection products should go through dealers it lists and accredits. That listing is separate from CAC, so ask NAFDAC what applies to you.
Can I register fertiliser and agrochemicals under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as sale of agrochemicals, fertilisers and general chemicals, and both fit under one registration.
Can I register a soap, detergent or cleaning products business? Yes. Small producers and sellers of soaps, detergents and cleaning products register the same way. Any product registration or labelling requirements are handled separately.
Can I register a supplier of laboratory or industrial chemicals? Yes. Describe your lines plainly. Some chemicals may need authorisation from federal bodies, which is separate from CAC.
What about water treatment chemicals? Sellers of water treatment products can register under the chemicals category. Product and storage requirements are separate.
Can I register a business that stores or transports chemicals? Yes, for the CAC part. Premises approvals, storage safety, and transport and vehicle rules are separate and depend on what you handle.
What if I import chemicals myself? Import permits, customs duties and clearing are separate from CAC registration. Your certificate is a useful document to have, since banks and clearing agents often ask for proof of registration.
Do you register businesses outside Jalingo? Yes. We cover all 16 Taraba LGAs, from Ibi and Wukari to Takum and Sardauna, at the same price and turnaround.
Do I need a shop or store address before I apply? You need a business address in Taraba State and its LGA for the application. If you are still arranging premises, send the address you plan to use.
Can I register before I have stocked anything? Yes. You need a name, an address and a description of the business. Stock and storage can come after registration.
Can I run more than one store under a single business name? One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe it broadly. Approvals for each location may still apply, so confirm them for every store.
How should I describe the nature of my business? Use plain words that match what you will sell, such as sale of agrochemicals and fertilisers, or production and sale of cleaning products. Send us your list and we’ll help word it.
Will the certificate help me supply farms, cooperatives or institutions? Buyers and organisations often ask for proof of registration before opening an account or ordering in volume, so the certificate is useful to hold. It does not guarantee any order.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number comes with the ₦35,500.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses must file annual returns. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when the time comes.
