Beauty and adornment are personal businesses: a necklace chosen for a wedding, a shade matched to a customer’s skin, a bride’s makeup finished before the photographer arrives. If you sell, make or apply any of it in Taraba State, a registered business name gives that work a proper footing for suppliers, customers and banks. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, whichever LGA your shop, studio or stall is in. Your business name, sent over WhatsApp, is the only thing we need to get going.

What Your ₦35,500 Covers
Your ₦35,500 is paid once, and CAC’s own fee is counted in it, as is ours. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, all-inclusive.
- A check that your chosen name hasn’t already been taken
- Securing that name for you
- Filling in and sending off your CAC Business Name application
- The government filing and processing fee charged by CAC
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report confirming your business is active on the public register
What Falls Outside This Registration
CAC registration gives your business a legal name. Beauty and jewellery businesses have several approvals that sit outside it:
- Printed copies of your certificate — you receive a soft copy and can print it at any business centre
- NAFDAC registration for cosmetics you make, package or import under your own brand; products you resell are expected to carry their own NAFDAC registration numbers
- Keeping your shelves compliant with NAFDAC, which means checking for expired, banned or unregistered stock
- Licences under the mining laws if you buy, sell or export gold, gemstones or other minerals
- Customs duties and import documents for jewellery, beads, hair or cosmetics you bring in, and exporter registration with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council if you sell abroad
- Trademark protection for your brand name, logo or product labels, which is handled separately through the federal Trademarks Registry
- Shop, stall, salon and signage permits, and any hygiene approvals your local government council requires
- Your tax filings, including VAT where it applies to your sales
- Employer obligations such as pension and employee-compensation contributions, once your staff numbers reach the level where they apply
- Opening a business bank account, done with your bank after your certificate arrives
- Annual returns in later years — a short, separate filing that we can also handle
Which Suits a Beauty or Jewellery Brand: Business Name or Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (all-inclusive) | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Keeps personal assets separate | No | Yes |
| Documents delivered | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Often chosen by | Makeup artists, jewellers, boutique owners and small cosmetics shops | Product manufacturers, wholesale distributors, and brands with partners or investors |
A Business Name is enough for most makeup artists, jewellers and cosmetics shops: it gives you a legal name for invoices, supplier accounts and a bank account. If you plan to manufacture your own products, go through NAFDAC registration, supply other shops in bulk or bring in investors, a Limited Liability Company is usually the better fit, and we’ll say so when it applies. Many owners start with a Business Name and convert later.
Documents to Have Ready
- Two business names, in the order you prefer them
- A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Taraba State, with the LGA named
- A phone number and an email address
- A short description of what you do — for example “jewellery, cosmetics and makeup services” or “sale of cosmetics, perfumes and hair products”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, IDs and details of the directors and shareholders
The Registration Timeline
- We check your first-choice name on CAC’s public search portal.
- We reserve it as soon as it is confirmed as free.
- We fill in and file the application, using your details and your Taraba address.
- You send photos of your ID and passport photograph — a phone camera is fine.
- You pay ₦35,500 once, which covers every item above.
- Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report reach you, generally within 5–7 working days.
Past the point where you’ve sent your details and paid, there’s simply nothing left on your to-do list.
Skin Products, Metalwork and NAFDAC: What Taraba Sellers Should Know
Taraba has crafts that sit close to this trade. Britannica notes that cottage industries in the state produce metalwork, leather goods, pottery and dyed cloth, so jewellers and accessory makers are working in a state with its own tradition of making things by hand.
On the cosmetics side, the regulator that matters most is NAFDAC. In an earlier briefing in Jalingo, NAFDAC’s Taraba coordinator reported impounding unregistered drugs in Gembu, said the agency was continuing to mop up banned skin soaps and other mercury-containing products, and advised the public to check expiry dates and NAFDAC registration numbers before buying. Elsewhere, a NAFDAC enforcement official has said that a regulated product without a registration number is considered fake and that retailers and suppliers can both be sanctioned. In 2025, NAFDAC urged people to use its decentralised registration process to verify and register their products.
CAC registration does not register your products, and it will not clear anything with NAFDAC. If you plan to put your own creams, soaps or oils through NAFDAC, you will be applying as a business, so it makes sense to have the registered name in place first. Ask NAFDAC for its current checklist. For jewellers, makeup artists and resellers, the certificate is simpler: it is the registered identity that suppliers, customers and banks look for.
Beauty and Jewellery Registration Across Taraba State
The price and the turnaround are the same in every local government area. We register jewellery, cosmetics and makeup businesses in all 16, grouped here by senatorial district.
Taraba Central
Jalingo, Ardo Kola, Karim Lamido, Lau, Yorro and Zing. In Jalingo, the state capital, that means jewellers, beauty shops and makeup studios; the same registration is available for stalls and home studios in the other five.
Taraba North
Bali, Gashaka, Gassol, Kurmi and Sardauna. This includes shops in Gembu, in Sardauna on the Mambilla Plateau, where NAFDAC has previously impounded unregistered drugs, so a registered name and properly registered stock are worth having.
Taraba South
Donga, Ibi, Takum, Ussa and Wukari. Whether you run a makeup studio in Wukari, a jewellery shop in Takum or a beauty stall in Ibi, the process is identical.
If your business is anywhere in Taraba State, we can register it.
From Bridal Makeup at Dawn to Stock Checks at Night: Let Us Handle the Form-Filling
A bride booked for 5 a.m., a display case that needs polishing, a customer asking for the exact shade, a batch of lotions whose expiry dates you check before they go on the shelf — your work depends on detail, and none of it waits. The paperwork behind the business is one thing you can pass on entirely. Once it’s done, your brand has a registered name for receipts, supplier invoices, social-media pages and bank forms.
This Might Be a Great Fit If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather not be stuck on CAC’s portal while a bride is waiting in the chair, a customer is trying on a necklace or a delivery needs checking against its expiry dates — you want the paperwork finished while the work carries on.
- You’re planning to grow from a stall or a home studio into a proper shop, wholesale supply to other sellers, or your own product line — and you want a registered name to build the brand on.
- You’d like the cheaper option when it’s enough — we’ll say so plainly rather than steer you toward a Limited Liability Company you don’t need yet.
- You want things kept simple — your details, one payment, your certificate.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a jewellery, cosmetics or makeup business in Taraba State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, whichever Taraba LGA you are in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I receive for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a makeup studio or cosmetics shop? For most owner-run studios, shops and stalls, yes. If you later manufacture products, supply in bulk or bring in partners or investors, you can move up to a company.
Does CAC registration give me NAFDAC approval? No. NAFDAC registers products separately. CAC registration gives your business its legal name and nothing beyond that.
I only resell products made by other companies. Do I need NAFDAC registration? Products you resell are expected to carry their own NAFDAC registration numbers, and NAFDAC has said that sellers of unregistered goods can be sanctioned. Check that your stock is registered and in date.
I make my own soaps, creams or oils. What do I need? Products you make and sell under your own brand generally need NAFDAC registration. Contact NAFDAC for its current requirements. A Limited Liability Company is often a better fit for manufacturers, and we’ll tell you if it applies to you.
I’m a makeup artist who works from home or at clients’ venues. Can I register? Yes. You need a business address in Taraba State with its LGA, and a home address is acceptable if that is where you operate.
My jewellery uses gold, silver or gemstones. Is there anything else I need? Buying, selling or exporting gold, gemstones and other minerals can fall under the mining laws, which require separate licences. Check the position with the relevant authority for what you trade.
Can I register as a maker of handmade beads and accessories? Yes. Describe what you make, for example “handmade beads, jewellery and accessories”.
I import cosmetics, hair or jewellery. What changes? Customs duties and import documents apply, and imported cosmetics also need to meet NAFDAC’s rules. Those are separate from CAC registration.
I run a salon and also sell beauty products. Can I register? Yes. Describe both parts of the business, for example “salon services and sale of beauty products”. Any hygiene or premises approvals for the salon are separate from CAC registration.
Can I register jewellery, cosmetics and a makeup studio under one name? Yes. Describe the business broadly, for example “jewellery, cosmetics and makeup services”. Each activity may still need its own approvals.
Will a certificate help me get stock on credit from distributors? Suppliers and distributors often ask for proof of registration before extending credit or opening a trade account, so it is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any terms.
Does the certificate protect my brand name and logo? No. CAC registration gives your business a registered name, but trademark protection is handled separately through the federal Trademarks Registry.
I sell on Instagram and WhatsApp and have no shop. Can I register? Yes. You need a business address in Taraba State, which can be your home address if that is where you operate.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a short, separate step, and we can help when it falls due.
What if the name I want is already taken? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many beauty and jewellery businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow, and we can help with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you plan to manufacture products, supply other shops in bulk, share ownership or take on investors, the company route is worth considering from day one.
Can one registration cover a studio and a shop? One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe it broadly. Permits usually attach to each premises, so check what applies to every location.
Do you register businesses outside Jalingo? Yes. We register jewellery, cosmetics and makeup businesses in all 16 LGAs of Taraba State, from Sardauna and Gashaka to Wukari and Takum, at the same price and with the same turnaround.
