Electrical and electronics is a trade where customers judge you quickly: the breaker that doesn’t trip, the television that comes back from repair working, the cable that matches what you promised. If you sell appliances in Akure, wire buildings across the Akoko towns, or repair gadgets from a small shop in Ondo town, putting the business under a registered name is a sensible first step. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever you operate in Ondo State. Send your business name on WhatsApp and consider it handled — that’s genuinely the extent of what’s asked of you.

Ondo’s New Electricity Law and What It Means for the Trade
Ondo State has just reshaped the rules around electricity. In August 2026, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa signed the Ondo State Electric Power Sector (Amendment) Law, 2026, which amends the state’s 2020 power law to line it up with the federal Electricity Act, 2023. Under it, a State Electricity Regulatory Commission takes charge of licences, tariffs, mini-grids and renewable energy, and consumers face compulsory metering. For anyone selling or installing electrical equipment, the more relevant provision is the new Equipment Standards and Competence Certification Agency (ESCCA). It is set up to inspect, test and certify electrical equipment and installations, and to license and accredit electrical installers, technicians, contractors and operators working in the state. The law also gives legal protection to transformers and lines funded by communities and private individuals, which is the kind of project electrical contractors are often hired to build.
None of this replaces CAC registration, and the detail of how the new licensing will run is something to confirm with the state’s authorities. But a registered business name is typically the first thing a contractor, dealer or repairer needs before applying for licences, quoting for jobs or opening accounts with suppliers. Register the name first, then deal with the licences that apply to your type of work.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company for an Electrical Business?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost (all-inclusive) | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Separates you from the business’s debts | No | Yes |
| Documents you receive | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Usually suits | Wiremen, repair workshops, appliance shops and sole-trader dealers | Contractors bidding for larger jobs, distributors with partners, or firms with investors |
If you run a shop, a workshop or a small team of wiremen, a Business Name normally covers what you need: a legal name for receipts, quotations and your bank account. A company starts to make sense once you carry heavy stock on credit, take on larger installation contracts, share ownership with partners, or bring in outside money. Many electrical businesses begin with a Business Name and convert later.

Skilled Hands Shouldn’t Be Held Up by Forms
You already know how to read a faulty board, size a cable for the load, and tell a customer honestly whether a repair is worth the money. Your days are spent on ladders, behind counters and in the middle of jobs that can’t wait, with parts to source and prices that shift from one supplier visit to the next. Filing for a business name is a job that adds nothing to that skill, so it is one we can lift off your hands. When it’s done, your work carries a registered name on quotations, receipts and supplier accounts.
Is This Right for Your Business?
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’re on a site with a half-finished wiring job, or behind a counter explaining cable sizes to a customer, and the CAC portal is the last thing you can stop to open.
- You’re aiming to move from retail and small repairs into installation contracts, supplying schools, offices and estates, or becoming a distributor for electrical and appliance brands around Akure and beyond.
- You prefer being told what you actually need: if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You’d rather not chase anyone: one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for an electrical or electronics business in Ondo State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
How long does registration take? Usually 5–7 working days from the point your details and payment are in.
Is a Business Name enough for an electrical shop, repair workshop or small contracting business? For most owner-run operations, yes. It gives you the registered name to trade under. If you’re taking on larger contracts or sharing ownership, a company may fit better.
Does CAC registration replace the installer or contractor licence under the Ondo electricity law? No. Licensing and certification for installers, technicians and contractors are handled by the state’s electricity authorities, and the details should be confirmed with them. CAC registration gives you the registered name to apply under.
Do I need to register with COREN? It may apply if your work involves engineering practice that requires it, and it is handled separately from CAC. Check the current requirements for your kind of work.
Do I need SON approval for the products I sell? Standards requirements may apply to certain electrical goods, especially imported ones. That is a separate process from CAC registration.
I sell appliances and also repair them. Do I need two registrations? No. One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe both activities in the nature-of-business field.
Can I register if I trade from a shop in a market or plaza? Yes, as long as you can give a business address in Ondo State and its LGA. Send the shop address you use.
Can I register before I open my shop or workshop? Yes. You need an address and LGA for the application, so send the premises you plan to use.
Do you register businesses outside Akure? Yes. We register electrical and electronics businesses throughout Ondo State, from Owo and the Akoko towns to Okitipupa and the coast, at the same price and turnaround.
What if my business name isn’t available? Send a backup and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Will the certificate help me win contracts or supply to institutions? Offices, schools and contractors often ask for proof of registration before awarding work or placing regular orders, so the certificate is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any job.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks require, alongside your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I get a printed certificate? We send a soft copy by WhatsApp, and you can print it at any business centre when convenient.
Are there CAC filings to do in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when the time comes.
Can I move from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many electrical businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow or take on partners. We can assist with the conversion.
When should I start with a Limited Liability Company instead? If you’re building a larger contracting or distribution business, sharing ownership, or a client or investor expects a company structure, it’s worth considering from day one.
