What Your ₦35,500 Covers

Everything below sits inside one all-inclusive payment: CAC’s filing fee and our service fee together, with nothing added later. If you prefer to start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is available at ₦65,500, all-inclusive.

What Falls Outside This Registration

Farming covers many activities, and some carry their own approvals that sit alongside CAC registration:

Best forOwner-run farms, fishing businesses and small produce or input tradersLarger farms, processors, partner-owned ventures and businesses seeking investors

A Business Name fits when you run the farm or fishing business yourself and need a legal name for sales, supplier invoices and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company becomes more attractive when several people own the venture, when you invest in mills, cold storage or large acreage, or when a buyer or financier prefers to deal with a company. Many farmers start with a Business Name and upgrade as the operation grows.

Documents to Have Ready

  1. Two proposed business names, ranked by preference
  2. A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
  3. A passport photograph
  4. Your business address in Taraba State — with its LGA
  5. A phone number and email address
  6. Nature of business — in plain words, e.g. “crop farming and produce sales” or “fish farming and fish processing”
  7. If you choose Limited Liability Company instead: names, ID and details of directors and shareholders

The Registration Timeline

  1. Check availability of your proposed name on CAC’s public search — we do this for you.
  2. Reserve the name as soon as it clears.
  3. Complete the application with your business details, your own details and your Taraba address.
  4. Upload your ID and passport photograph — a phone photo is enough.
  5. Pay the ₦35,500, a single payment covering everything above.
  6. Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.

Six steps, and only two of them involve you — everything else runs on our end.

Serious Money Is Heading for Taraba’s Farmland

Taraba’s lowlands support yam, rice, cassava, millet and maize, while its highlands suit crops such as tea and coffee, and the state has been drawing attention and financing to farming. In June 2026, the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development and the Taraba State Government signed financing agreements worth about $268 million for an integrated industrial park, 10,000 hectares of irrigated rice production and processing, and a 50-megawatt solar plant in Jalingo. Smaller farmers have been in view too: in late 2025 the federal agriculture ministry began distributing farm inputs to 200 cooperative groups of smallholders across the state. We can’t say what any given scheme, processor or lender will require of you, and registration does not promise a place in any of them. But when programmes, processors and financiers reach out to farmers, they deal with named, identifiable businesses, and a registered name makes yours one of them.

Farm Work Doesn’t Wait for Office Hours

The agricultural year sets its own pace. There are fields to clear and plant before the rains settle, weeding that cannot be put off, fishing runs before sunrise, and a harvest that has to be dried, bagged and moved before the weather turns. Then comes the trip to market, the haggling with buyers and the wait for payment. No part of that leaves a free afternoon for a registration portal. Having your farm or fishing business entered on the CAC register is one job you can hand over completely. Afterwards, your business has a name that can go on your sales records, supplier invoices and bank forms.

A Good Match If…

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for a farming business in Taraba State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Taraba State you farm or fish. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.

What do I get for the ₦35,500, and how long does it take? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report. It usually takes 5–7 working days, and everything is sent to you on WhatsApp.

Is a Business Name enough for a small farm or fishing business? For most owner-run farms, fishing businesses and small traders, yes. It gives you a registered name to trade under, and if it covers your stage, that’s what we’ll recommend.

Do I have to register before I can farm? CAC registration is not what permits you to farm. It gives your business a legal name for buyers, banks and programmes that want to deal with a registered business. Your land and any other approvals are separate.

Does registering with CAC replace cooperative registration? No. Cooperative societies register through state cooperative authorities. A Business Name is a different registration, for a business owned by an individual or a few partners.

Can a farmers’ group or association register as a Business Name? A Business Name belongs to its owners rather than to a membership body. Associations and groups usually register differently, such as through the cooperative route or as an incorporated body, and those are separate from the registration described here.

Can I register a fish farm or a fishing business? Yes. Describe the nature of business as fish farming, fishing or fish processing. Fishing permissions and other approvals are separate and handled with the relevant authorities.

Can I register a tree nursery or forestry business? Yes. You can register the business under a name, and any forestry rules for felling or selling timber sit outside CAC registration. Check them with the state’s forestry authorities.

I mill and package rice. Do I need anything besides CAC? If you sell packaged, branded food, NAFDAC registration is a separate requirement. CAC gives the business its legal name, which is typically the first step before such approvals.

Can I list farming, trading and processing under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as farming, produce trading and processing. Each activity may have its own approvals.

Do I need to own the land before I register? Not for the CAC registration itself. You need a business address in Taraba State and its LGA. Land documents are a separate matter.

Which address do I use if I farm far from town? Send the address you want on the certificate, together with the LGA it falls under. Many farmers use a town or home address for the business.

Will banks, input suppliers or buyers ask for my registration? Some do. Banks commonly ask for a certificate when opening a business account, and buyers or suppliers may want proof of registration before regular dealings. Requirements differ from one to another.

Will registration help me join government or donor programmes? Programmes and buyers sometimes ask for proof of registration, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee support, and each programme sets its own conditions.

Do you register farms outside Jalingo? Yes. We register businesses across all of Taraba State, from Sardauna and Gashaka to Wukari and Ibi, at the same price and turnaround.

Can family members or partners register a farm together? A Business Name can be held by one or several owners, and each person’s ID and details are needed. With several owners or investors, a Limited Liability Company may fit better, and we’ll tell you honestly which suits you.

Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.

Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.

Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help with it when the time comes.

What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it right away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.

Can I use words like “Farms”, “Agro” or “Agric” in my business name? Often yes, but CAC checks every name against its register and naming rules, and similar names may already be taken. Send two or three ranked options and we’ll test them.

Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many farms start with a Business Name and convert when acreage, processing or investors come in. We can assist with the conversion.

When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are planning a larger farm or processing unit, sharing ownership, or expect a buyer or investor to insist on a company, the company route is worth considering from day one.
