Farming in Zamfara State runs on the seasons: the rains, the dry-season rice near the dam, and harvests of millet, sorghum, maize and beans. A farm that sells to buyers, deals with banks or applies to programmes is simpler to work with once it trades under a registered name. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for farmers, fish farmers, tree growers and agribusiness owners anywhere in Zamfara State, so your time stays on the land. You don’t need to learn CAC’s portal: send your business name on WhatsApp and we’ll do the rest.

Bakolori and the Farmer Groups: How Zamfara Farming Is Organised
Farming in Zamfara is organised around water and around groups. The Bakolori Irrigation Scheme, fed by the dam at Talata Mafara, serves farmers in Talata Mafara, Bakura and Maradun LGAs. In July 2017 the federal government flagged off a World Bank-backed project to rehabilitate 8,000 hectares of the scheme and convert or expand another 5,560 hectares under TRIMING. The same three LGAs were picked for the state’s 2017 Fadama III dry-season farming project because of their closeness to the dam: 129 farmer groups, 1,290 farmers registered through their groups and associations, with rice and sorghum as the chosen crops and farm inputs supplied. Today the Bakolori Water Users Association speaks for farmers on the scheme, and in July 2026 its chairman reported a bird invasion across more than 250 hectares that affected over 1,500 farmers.
Those programmes and associations are one thing; your farm as a business is another. Group registration gets you into a programme where one is on offer, while a CAC registered business name gives your own farm an identity to put on invoices, buyer agreements and bank paperwork. Both Fadama III and TRIMING are older programmes, so ask the state agriculture ministry or your local association what support and rules apply now. We handle the business name; the rest is separate.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company for a Farm?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (all-inclusive) | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Protects personal assets? | No | Yes |
| What you receive | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Typically suits | Smallholders, family farms, fish farmers and farm-service providers | Large commercial farms, input suppliers and aggregators with partners or investors |
A Business Name is usually enough when you farm or trade under your own name and need a registered name for buyers, receipts and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company becomes worth considering when the operation grows, several people share ownership, or a funder or large buyer expects a company structure, since the business then stands apart from your personal assets. Many farmers start with a Business Name and upgrade later.

The Season Waits for No Form
A farmer’s year is set by the weather, not the office calendar. There is land to clear before the rains, seed to buy, weeding to finish, grain to guard as it ripens and a harvest that has to be dried, threshed and sold before the price drops. A fish farmer is feeding and checking ponds; a nursery owner is watering seedlings; a tractor-hire operator is booked from field to field. Registering the business name is one task you can hand over entirely. Once it is done, your farm has a recognised name for buyer agreements, input purchases and bank paperwork.
You’ll Probably Like Working With Us If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- Your days start before sunrise and follow the season — land preparation, planting, weeding, keeping birds off ripening grain — so a CAC form can’t wait for a quiet hour that never comes.
- You want to grow beyond the farm gate — from selling at the roadside to supplying millers and aggregators who ask for a registered supplier, or from one plot to a larger dry-season operation.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that sounds like how you like to do business, you’ll probably enjoy working with us.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a farm in Zamfara State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration as a soft copy, a TIN and a CAC Status Report. Nothing is charged after the payment.
How long does registration take? Usually 5–7 working days once your details and payment are in.
Is the price the same in every LGA? Yes. The price, documents and turnaround are identical anywhere in Zamfara State.
Is a Business Name enough for a farm? For most owner-run farms, fish ponds, nurseries and service businesses, yes. It gives you the registered name you need to start. Other approvals depend on what you grow, sell or process.
When does a Limited Liability Company make more sense? If you are building a large commercial farm, sharing ownership with partners, or a funder or large buyer wants a company structure, the LLC route is worth considering from day one.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many farmers start with a Business Name and convert as the business grows. We can assist with the conversion.
I’m a small farmer. Is registration worth it? It can be, if you want a registered name for buyers, a business bank account or programmes that ask for a registered business. It does not guarantee any sale, loan or support.
Does a CAC registration replace my farmer group or association membership? No. Group membership is separate. CAC registration is for your own farm business. Farmer associations and cooperatives usually follow other registration routes, so tell us what you are setting up.
Do I need land documents to register? No. CAC registration needs a business address, not land title. Land documents are handled separately through the land authorities.
What if I don’t have an office? A farm address or a home address in a Zamfara State LGA works, as long as you can give the LGA.
Are fishing and forestry businesses included? Yes. Fish farmers, fishers, tree nurseries and woodlot growers can register the same way as crop farmers. Any permits for those activities are separate.
Can I register an input supplier, farm-service business or produce aggregator? Yes. These businesses can be registered under the same Business Name price.
Do I need NAFDAC approval? It may apply if you sell agrochemicals or package and sell processed produce. It is a separate step handled by NAFDAC, and we do not do it for you.
What about seeds or exports? Seed production and sale and the export of produce can involve the National Agricultural Seeds Council and the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service. Check the current requirements for your activity.
Can I put farming and other activities under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example “farming and produce sales”. Some activities may have their own approvals.
I have more than one farm or plot. Do I register each? One registration covers your business as a whole. Any permits or arrangements tied to particular land or water are separate, so confirm what each location needs.
Will the certificate help with buyers, millers or lenders? Buyers, banks and programmes often ask for proof of registration, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any order, loan or grant.
I farm under the Bakolori scheme. Does registration change anything there? Your water-user arrangements and association membership are separate and stay as they are. A registered business name is for your own business paperwork.
I only farm seasonally. Can I still register? Yes. A seasonal farm can be registered, and the registration stays in place through the off-season.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Will I get a printed certificate, and how is it delivered? You receive a soft copy on WhatsApp, which you can print locally whenever you like.
What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it right away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
What should I write as the nature of business? Keep it simple and broad, such as “crop farming and produce sales” or “fish farming”. We can help you word it when you send your details.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Yes, registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step and we can help with it when the time comes.
Do you register farms outside Gusau? Yes. We register agricultural businesses in all 14 LGAs of Zamfara State, from Talata Mafara and Bakura to Zurmi and Anka, at the same price and turnaround.
