Taraba State

CAC Business Name Registration for Fashion Design in Taraba State

Across Taraba State, a lot of good work starts with a tape measure and a length of cloth. Tailors, designers and embroiderers turn fabric into wedding outfits, school uniforms, festive-season gowns and everyday wear, often from a small shop or a room at home. Putting that work under a registered business name is a sensible early step, and it is one you do not have to do yourself. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We run the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, whichever local government area you work in. Start by sending your business name on WhatsApp; from that point, the work is ours.

Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For

One payment of ₦35,500 settles everything below, including the government’s filing charge and our own service fee. If you would rather start as a company, the Limited Liability Company route is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

Outside the Scope of This Registration

Registration gives your business a legal name. The items below sit outside it, and some may apply to your kind of shop:

For a tailor or designer running their own shop, a Business Name is usually enough: it gives you a legal name for invoices, a bank account and customer paperwork. A Limited Liability Company starts to make sense when several people own the business, when you take on large contracts that put real money at risk, or when an investor asks for a company structure. Plenty of fashion businesses start with a Business Name and convert later.

Before You Reach Out

  1. Two business names you would like to use, in order of preference
  2. A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
  3. A passport photograph
  4. Your business address in Taraba State, with the local government area named
  5. A phone number and an email address
  6. A short description of the business — for example “fashion design and tailoring” or “bespoke clothing, uniforms and embroidery”
  7. For a Limited Liability Company only: the names, IDs and details of the directors and shareholders

From Message to Certificate

  1. We check name availability on CAC’s public search portal, so you don’t have to.
  2. We reserve the name as soon as it is confirmed as free.
  3. We complete the application, using your details and your Taraba address.
  4. You send a photo of your ID and your passport photograph — pictures taken on a phone are accepted.
  5. You make the ₦35,500 payment, which covers every item listed above.
  6. Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, normally within 5–7 working days.

Once you have sent your details and made that one payment, all that remains for you is waiting for the certificate to land on WhatsApp.

Taraba’s Cloth Tradition, and Why a Registered Name Helps

Fashion in Taraba has deep roots in the cloth itself. Britannica lists dyed cloth among the cottage industries of the state, next to leather goods, pottery and metalwork, and names the Jukun and Mambilla as its main peoples. Museum records show how old the textile tradition is: the British Museum holds Jukun strip-woven pieces from the 1920s, made from cotton and silk with indigo and magenta patterning, and an American folk-art museum holds a Mumuye apron sewn from strip-woven indigo cotton. A designer in Jalingo or Wukari who blends strip-woven or indigo-dyed fabric into a modern cut is working with a heritage the state already owns.

The professional side of the trade has a structure too. The Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria describes itself as the recognised body for the profession, incorporated in 1989 and organised through state chapters. Registration with CAC is not the same as joining it, but joining an association, applying for a training or funding scheme, or quoting for a school or office order often starts with one question: is the business registered, and under what name? A CAC certificate is the answer to that question. It does not replace trademark protection for your label, which is a separate step.

Fashion and Tailoring Registration Across All 16 Taraba LGAs

The price, the paperwork and the turnaround are the same wherever your shop or studio is. Here is where we register fashion and tailoring businesses across the state.

Taraba Central

Taraba North

Taraba South

If your shop is anywhere in Taraba State, we can register it.

You Know the Cut. Leave the Paperwork to Us.

Your day is measured in centimetres: shoulder width, sleeve length, a hem that has to be right before Saturday’s wedding. You know which fabric frays, which seam puckers, and which customer will want the outfit finished yesterday. Between the machines, the pressing and the fittings, there is not much room left for a government portal. Registration is the one job in the shop that doesn’t need your tape measure, and it can be taken off your hands completely. When it is finished, your business has a recognised name that you can print on receipts, quotations, labels and bank forms.

Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:

If that sounds like you, send your business name and we’ll get started.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CAC registration cost for a tailor or fashion designer in Taraba State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, regardless of which Taraba LGA you work in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.

What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.

Is a Business Name enough for a tailoring shop or fashion studio? For most owner-run shops and studios, yes. It gives you a registered name to trade under. If you later take on partners, investors or large contracts, you can move up to a company.

Do I need a special licence to run a tailoring business in Taraba? Requirements differ by local government and by market, so we can’t list them all here. Ask your council or market association about shop, signage or stall permits. CAC registration is a separate step from those.

Does a CAC certificate protect my brand name or logo? No. CAC registration gives your business a registered name, but trademark protection is handled separately through the federal Trademarks Registry.

I sew from home. Can I still register? Yes. You need a business address in Taraba State and the name of your LGA. Your home address is acceptable if that is where you work.

I rent a shop or market stall. Can I use that address? Yes. Use the address where the business operates, and tell us the LGA it falls under.

Can I register as a fashion designer and also sell fabric or accessories? Yes. Describe the business broadly, for example “fashion design, tailoring and sale of fabrics and accessories”.

Will a certificate help me win uniform orders from schools or offices? Organisations often ask for proof of registration before placing a bulk order, so it is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any contract.

Can the certificate help me apply for a loan or a grant? Lenders, grant programmes and cooperative schemes commonly ask for proof of registration. The certificate meets that part of the requirement, but approval depends on the scheme and is never guaranteed.

Can I open a business bank account with it? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks request, together with your ID and other details.

Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.

Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a short, separate filing, and we can help you with it when it is due.

What if the name I want is already taken? Send us your backup name and we will check it straight away. Keeping two or three options ready speeds things up.

Can I switch from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many fashion businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow, and we can help with the conversion.

When should I start with a Limited Liability Company instead? If you plan to share ownership with partners, produce at large scale, or an investor wants a company structure, it is worth considering the company route from the start.

Do you register businesses outside Jalingo? Yes. We register fashion and tailoring businesses in all 16 LGAs of Taraba State, from Sardauna and Gashaka to Wukari and Takum, at the same price and with the same turnaround.

Do I have to come to an office or travel anywhere? No. The process runs on WhatsApp: you send your details and photos from your phone, and your soft-copy certificate comes back the same way.
