Frozen foods and meat is a trade won on small details: how long the cold room holds through a power cut, how quickly the cartons move, and whether the fish, chicken and beef on your shelf are what buyers have learned to trust. Whether you run a freezer shop in Akure, a cold room in Ondo town or a stall selling fish brought up from the coast, a registered business name is the first piece of paperwork that makes the trade official. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever your shop or cold room is in Ondo State. It really is this simple: send us your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll handle everything else.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company: Which Suits a Frozen Foods Business?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost (all-inclusive) | β¦35,500 | β¦65,500 |
| Protects your personal assets | No | Yes |
| What you receive | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Typically suits | Freezer shops, meat stalls, small cold rooms and sole traders | Bulk distributors, businesses with partners, or those chasing institutional buyers |
For a single shop, a stall or a modest cold room, a Business Name usually does the job: it gives you a legal name for your invoices, your bank account and your suppliers. A company becomes more attractive when you stock heavily on credit, share ownership with partners, bring in investors, or want to supply larger buyers who prefer dealing with a company. Many traders start with a Business Name and upgrade later.
Before You Reach Out
- Two proposed business names, in order of preference

- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Ondo State, with the LGA it falls under
- A phone number and email address
- A short description of what you do, for example “frozen fish and poultry retail” or “cold-room supply of frozen foods and meat”
- If you choose the Limited Liability Company: names, ID and details of each director and shareholder
From Message to Certificate
- Name check: we search CAC’s public portal to confirm your name is available.
- Reservation: once it is clear, we reserve the name for you.
- Application: we complete the form with your business and address details.
- Documents: you send your ID and passport photograph, and a phone photo is enough.
- Payment: you make the one β¦35,500 payment covering everything listed above.
- Delivery: your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive by WhatsApp, usually within 5β7 working days.
Six steps, and only two of them involve you: everything else runs on our end.
Between Akure’s Abattoir and the Ilaje Coast
Ondo State supplies the frozen foods and meat trade from two very different directions. On the meat side, the state government built a semi-mechanised abattoir on the Ado-Ekiti road in Akure, reported at β¦528 million and inaugurated in early 2017. Press coverage at the time noted that land for the project had been set aside as far back as 1983, and described a facility with 78 slaughter slabs, a laboratory and a meat quality-control section. The state government said the aim was to move away from around 70 scattered local slaughter slabs, which it described as unhygienic. Meat inspection is the statutory work of veterinary professionals in Nigeria, so whether your beef and goat meat comes from Akure’s abattoir or another approved source, the traders who keep paperwork and sourcing in order tend to be the ones buyers trust.
On the fish side, Ondo has the longest coastline of any Nigerian state, put by researchers at roughly 180 kilometres, with Ilaje and Ese Odo forming its core coast. The Ilaje have long been known as one of the country’s most skilled fishing peoples. Much of that catch is smoked, dried or sold fresh, and a share of it passes through freezers and cold rooms before reaching shops and restaurants in Akure, Ondo town, Owo and beyond. Whichever end of that chain you work at, a registered business name is the thing that lets your trade be recognised by banks, suppliers and bulk buyers. The licences and inspections that govern food and meat handling are separate steps, and they are easier to approach once the business has a legal name.
Registering Frozen Foods Businesses Across Ondo State
The price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever you trade. We register frozen foods and meat businesses in all 23 areas below.

- Okitipupa and Irele: shops, stalls and suppliers in the southern towns

If your shop, stall or cold room is anywhere in Ondo State, you are covered.
You Know the Freezer; Leave the Filing to Us
Your day is already run by things the paperwork can’t fix: a delivery truck arriving before the market opens, cartons to count and stack, a thermometer you check more often than you’d admit, and a generator to keep fuelled when power drops. Customers want the right cut at the right price, and restaurants and caterers want stock that is there when they call. Registering the business name is one job on that list we can take off you completely. Once it is done, your trade has a recognised name to put on receipts, supplier invoices and bank documents.
A Good Match If…
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so. Here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’d rather not wrestle with CAC’s portal while a delivery of fish cartons is being offloaded, a customer is haggling over a turkey, or the freezer temperature needs checking during a long power cut.
- You’re looking to grow from one shop or stall into supplying restaurants, hotels, caterers and other retailers across Akure, Ondo town or Owo, perhaps with a second cold room.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size, not the biggest package by default.
- You want a process without back-and-forth: send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a frozen foods business in Ondo State? β¦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in the state you trade. A Limited Liability Company is β¦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the β¦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
How long does it take? Usually 5β7 working days from the point your details and payment are in.
Is a Business Name enough for a frozen foods shop or cold room? For most single-location shops, stalls and small cold rooms, yes. It gives you the registered name you need to start trading properly. A company becomes worth considering when you have partners, investors or larger institutional buyers.
Does CAC registration replace NAFDAC registration? No. NAFDAC rules may apply if you package, repackage or import frozen products under your own brand, and that is handled separately. Check the current requirements for your type of product.
Does the certificate cover meat inspection or abattoir approvals? No. Veterinary inspection and abattoir requirements are separate from CAC registration. The certificate simply gives your business its legal name.
I sell frozen fish, chicken and beef together. Do I need separate registrations? No. One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe it broadly in the nature-of-business field.
Can I register if I trade from a market stall? Yes, provided you can give a business address in Ondo State and the LGA it falls under. Send the stall or shop address you use.
I haven’t bought my freezers yet. Can I still register? Yes. You will need an address and an LGA for the application, so send the premises you plan to use.
Do you register businesses outside Akure? Yes. We register frozen foods and meat businesses across all of Ondo State, from Owo and the Akoko towns to Okitipupa and the Ilaje coast, at the same price and turnaround.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it right away. Two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Will the certificate help me supply restaurants, hotels or caterers? Larger buyers often ask for proof of registration before placing regular or bulk orders, so the certificate is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any order.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. The certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the β¦35,500.
Do I get a printed certificate? We send a soft copy by WhatsApp, and you can print it at any business centre when convenient.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step and we can help with it when the time comes.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many traders begin with a Business Name and convert as the business grows or partners join. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are building a larger distribution business, sharing ownership with partners, or an investor or large buyer expects a company structure, the Limited Liability Company route is worth considering from day one.
